I haven't found much info on tis topic, I would like to know how you go about renting these watercrafts....What is a water mouse anyway?

DH would love to buy a boat someday so I thought it would be nice for him to give it a try while in WDW...

I am interested in the DTD rentals...where do you rent these? Do we do this ahead of time? ( before leaving home?) how much $ for how long?

We are not interested in the jetski types....the small 2 place boats I've assumed were the water mice....

Any help would be greatly appreciated....even if you have only experienced this in the resorts....I would like to know which ones offer this.

I rented water mice boat about 7 years ago now when I was staying at the Ft. Wilderness campground. From what I remember, my friends and I just walked up to the dock and rented them. There was no need for reservations. I plan on renting one again when I stay at the Wilderness Lodge in August, I know they are availible to rent there also.

We rented the Water Mice from the Grand Floridian last month. It was $35 for an hour...I think. I personally like renting from one of the monorail resorts because you have both Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake to cruise around. In addition you have great views of the MK and all the resorts around the lakes.

I can't find much info on these either. Here's what I've found here at the DIS on Water mice.

At Captain Jack's Marina at MKTPL you can rent individual water craft--called "Water Mice. The marina opens at 10:00 am and closing time is seasonal. Rental is around $20 for half hour.

Grand Floridian.... Mercury WaterMouse: $21.59 (plus tax) per 1/2 hour/
$27.23 (plus tax) per 45 min./$30.05 (plus tax per hour)

The water sprite boats can basically be rented from any hotel that has water around it. My family always does it from the Contamporary Resort. It is just kind of our tradition because we have had great memories at that hotel. Oh and water sprite boats are what the water mice used to be called. I will always call them water sprite boats.

I think if I remember right rental was $35 a hour when we rented last year from OKW. :goodvibes :wizard: :) :earsboy:

Here's the deal--straight off of the cast website :earsboy: The water mice/water sprites... are now all Sea Raycers by Sea Ray boats. They were new as of last spring.
Sea Raycer by Sea Ray®: (2 guests maximum)
$22.53 (plus tax) per 30 minutes
$30.05 (plus tax) per 45 minutes
$35.68 (plus tax) per 60 minutes

You must be 18 to rent them, however, A child must be at least 12 years old and at least 5-feet tall to drive a Sea Raycer by Sea Ray® alone. There is a maximum combined weight of 320 lbs. permitted for a Sea Raycer by Sea Ray®. Drivers of pontoon boats and canopy boats must be 18 years of age.

I thought you had to be 16 w/a valid drivers' license to drive one of these boats from the MK resorts. From POR docks OK to be younger because the boats aren't that fast, not as much traffic?

Wrong/right? Either way - can't wait to get down there & drive one of them around again!!!

Well, come on down--we're waiting for you! :teeth: I just got off of the phone with the marina at POR and they confirmed my original post. The person who first posted that POR had the old boats must have been there before they got the sea raycers. A 12 year old can drive alone(a parent must sign a release), and you do have to be 18 to rent one.

There is a 10 day deal for the bikes and boats for a family of 4 or 5 for one price--it is around 250 dollars--have this question on the resorts boats and no luck--I am going to call the marina directly and I will post the rate.

Family Plan- $249 plus tax (non-refundable) - Includes use of boats and bicycles for up to 5 Guests for 10 calendar days. This offer is valid only for registered WDW Resort Guests. Boats/bicycles are available on a first come, first serve basis. Boats/bicycles included in this offer must be rented from the Wilderness Lodge Marina only. Please call or visit the Wilderness Lodge Marina for further details. Other restrictions may apply. (Cruises and excursions are not included.)
Captain's Plan- $130 plus tax (non-refundable) - 4 hours of rentals (any combination) of boats and bicycles. This offer is available to all Guests, and boats/bicycles included in this offer must be rented for the Wilderness Lodge Marina only. Boats/bicycles are available on a first come, first serve basis. Please call or visit the Wilderness Lodge Marina for further details. Other restrictions may apply. (Cruises and excursions are not included.)

This happens to be for WL. What they are saying is that when you choose the resort that you are going to be renting from, you have to rent from that resort the entire 10 days. You can't rent a boat for a few hrs at WL, then go to BW, etc.

We have a "grown up" Sea Ray, and are really looking forward to renting these! :boat: is there a AP discount, and can you use this discount for all in your party (I'm passholder, DH :smooth: is not)

When we tried to rent a "water mouse" from the Poly last December, they wouldn't allow my 16yr old to drive without a 18yr old in the boat...So we decided to rent a pontoon boat so the whole family cruised around.

My son was only 12 yrs old when he drove a "water mouse" alone at the CBR in Dec of 2000.

Ok--I just got off the phone with WDW.

239 dollars plus tax for the length of stay. If you are staying at 2 resorts--then you go to back to where you originally bought package from.(for up to 5 guests)

There is a 15% discount for AP holders
15% discount for DVC members for all activities.

can the AP discount be used for your non AP DH if you are both together, but in separate boats???

Not sure bugsby--I did not ask that question. I would think that whoever is paying for the bill. Everyone in my family has AP's and I did not ask. You can call 1-407-WDW-PLAY and ask to speak with a marina directly.

What is a sea raycer? Is it like a jet-ski? I 'm looking for the prices for the little boats...not the pontoons, the ones that look like little speed boats....are they what they call water mice? or is a water mouse a kind of jet ski???

I'm not looking for info on the jetskis or the pontoons, DH would like to drive his own little boat with DD by his side.....Is that possible?

Thanks for clearing it up...

"Captain Bill" and Debbiedoo thanks for all the info.I hunted around online yesterday and couldn't find much.I was going to call WDW mYself this afternoon but y'all saved me the trouble!!!

THANKS!!!! :cool1:
