Info needed on watermice rentals....

What is a sea raycer? Is it like a jet-ski? I 'm looking for the prices for the little boats...not the pontoons, the ones that look like little speed boats....are they what they call water mice? or is a water mouse a kind of jet ski???

I'm not looking for info on the jetskis or the pontoons, DH would like to drive his own little boat with DD by his side.....Is that possible?

Thanks for clearing it up...

Sea Raycer is the new name for the new two-person watercraft--replacements for the Water Mice. They were just put into service last Spring.

You should have no problem with DH and DD in the boat together, as long as they don't exceed the weight limit.

Ok--I just got off the phone with WDW.

239 dollars plus tax for the length of stay. If you are staying at 2 resorts--then you go to back to where you originally bought package from.(for up to 5 guests)

Which marina did you speak with? I called 2 different ones to see if the info on the cast portal was wrong. I was told that the only 2 packages that they are promoting are for the family plan and the captains plan.

I called 1-407-WDW-PLAY and transferred to a CM and he had the info. He called the marina directly--and he confirmed the discount--could not answer the second part of my question and I think it was the WL. Not sure. But was told that the package was the same at poly--that was the other marina I was looking into.

They told me that the package price was the same--You had to get your rentals at the marina you bought at.

She told me that the 10 day plan was now a length of stay. hope it helps you.

Debbidoo,
I want to apologize for the mis-info. I called around to several marinas and found the one that was still giving old info. He put me on hold and then came back and confirmed what was on the cast portal. There is no "length of stay". It is a max of 10 days @249.00+ tax, as was posted earlier. I did find that I was only "partially correct" about the age of solo drivers. MK area resorts require a licensed driver to be in the boat--mainly because of the size of Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon, and our transportation boats. The other resorts, OKW, POR, DTD, etc still have the 12 yr old minimum age w/5' min. height. All resorts have the Sea Raycer boats.

If anyone else decides to call, and they receive length of stay info, mention the 10 day max. and have them check.

apology accepted

I did mention to the CM about the 10 day deal and she told me is was a length of stay--maybe she meant 10 day max. I will give a full report upon return and hopefully a price sheet for the Dis boards to help future guests.

Thanks for the information. We will be going to WDW in June and were thinking about doing the plan. There will be 9 of us and I thought this would be a fun alternative to the parks. Does anyone know if you can still get a pontoon boat on the plan? I know we used to be able to get this. Annmarie

So, they have these water sprites at POR--not just "manual" boats? :cool1:

If you are at POR, do you just go up and down the river or can you go to the lake at DTD? (I've never stayed at this resort before, so I don't know if the distance would work with the time restraints for rental).

Also, how difficult are these boats to drive? (for someone who cannot even drive a manual transmission :goodvibes )

Last time we were there DS rented a Watermice (mouse in the singular?) from Capn Jacks at DTD, and was really disappointed because it was set much slower than the boats from the resorts. It just chugged along. They came back early.

Are the Sea Raycers from DTD still so slow?

Bumpity, Bump, Bump Bump!!

We would like to know how fast the Sea Raycers, compared to the Watermice!! Has anybody rented them lately?

Also, we were wanting to find out if the Captain's Plan is 4 hours Per Day or just 4 hours total?

Thanks!!

I think the SeaRaycers by the lagoon are faster - which is another reason why someone 18 or over needs to be in the boat.

I was able to "drive" it around and got the hang of it in no time. It's amazing how quickly the time goes by.

I'd like to know how far, etc. you can go at POR as we're staying there this summer - I know my 15 yo DS will want to drive one of them by himself. Of course, we'll be over at the MK resorts driving the raycers too.

Thanks everybody for your time and providing the info!!! Love these boards!!

The boats are all the same speed. Someone 18 does not need to be in the boat. Someone 18 has to "rent, pay for, be responsible for, etc." Only at the MK resorts does a licensed driver (meaning someone 16 or over with a drivers license) have to be in the boat.

but you don't have to do a package, right? you can rent one or two for an
hour or so? can you rent them at the YC?? anyone know the daily or hourly
rate? :boat:
