Info for Canadian travelers..

Hooray:cheer2::cool1:

We flew down here last week while the no carry on was being enforced and Continental didn't get our bags here with us. They showed up the next morning. Which meant we had no toiletries, extra clothes, nothing.

What's funny about the new regulations is that they call the 1 bag limit a "small" carryon, but the dimension of 9 x 16 x 22 are the "published" limits for carryon on a lot of airlines. Of course, the airlines don't seem to enforce this, so I guess the standard could be considered "small."

What I do like is that it will be CATSA enforcing carryon size and not airline discretion, which should create enough space for carry-ons for everyone.

It's good to know they are letting Canadain travellers once again bring carryon bags back on their flights, even with the new rules on how much they can weigh.

Followed bavaria's mention of this thread over here. :)

I'll be sending the links to DH, who is traveling to and from Canada soon! He's a product tester and to not be able to carry the items on with him would be baaaaaad. Even while coming home.

So I'm really glad, for him, for this!

And yeah, like someone else noticed, the dimensions are the same, aren't they? "which is equivalent to the size of a small gym bag"...um, no, not any of MY gym bags! The fact is it's bigger than the size of the Rick Steves bags (9" x 21" x 14" and weighing just 3 lbs) we buy to use as checked bags (though we've carried it on once or twice). It's a nice, generous, size.

Yay for them!

That's good, and only logical if you think about it. They never put those limitations on US only flights, as if a terrorist couldn't fly into the US with explosives in his checked luggage (or drive, or buy it locally), and then take it as a carry-on on a domestic flight!

I don't see either where the carry-on size is "limited". It is the size of a small rolling suitcase. I even think some charter flights like Air Transat are less permissive than this.
