Hey! We were wanting to take the kids this summer to Hershey Park. (We are in Kentucky). Anyone have any tips on other things to do in the area or any good places to stay? We have two boys 13 and 15 and an 8 year old girl. Is it feasible to drive to Philadelphia a few days? THANKS!!

Another DIS member has this site. Plus do a search here and you will find out lots. We went last summer for the first time and loved it. The first thing we did was the trolley tour which gives you a nice idea of what is in Hershey. And we loved the chocolate tasting experience. There was a young girl, about 6, at our table and she enjoyed it too.

I think it is 3 or 4 hours to Philadelphia. We went to Gettysburg, Pittsburgh and Shanksville.

Have fun!

You should absolutely go to Philly! Check out the Liberty Bell, The Lets touch Museum, Ride the Ducks tour of South Street, have a cheese steak and a water ice! :cool1:

Thanks for this site! I'll be going with my DS's class in May. I'll be sure to check out helpful hints and tips. I haven't been to the park during the summer since I was in HS. We only stop by the chocolate world tour on the way home from my sister's house or we go to Christmas in Hershey.
Thanks! Any ideas where to stay in Hershey?
There is a Holiday in at the Grantville Exit off of I81. If you want to go ultra-ritzy, you can stay at the Hershey Hotel. My sister likes to go there for a spa day at least once a year.

We love the Hershey Lodge. It's like a smaller version of the WL.(IMHO ;) ) Ask for a room in the main building so you can be right next to the restaurants there. Also they have a free shuttle that will take you to the park. Onsite pool, mini golf and a lot more. You can buy discount tickets at the Giants food store in Hershey which seems to be the best discount on park tickets. Some fast food chains give coupons for money off tickets too as well as money off the 3D show and other things at Chocolate World. Chocolate World offers a free chocolate tour ride and they also have a trolley tour that leaves from there, the 3D show, bakery, food Hershey Factory Works. It's great!

Lancaster and PA Dutch country are an easy drive from Hershey too.
