"Inferior" camera users UNITE! Inspd by WM Alex's do you worry about your camera thrd

I probably have one of the cheapest cameras here, lol. It is also a point and shoot - Panasonic Lumix LZ2. It only cost a little over $200 and I hated it when I got it and missed my old Olympus D 450 Zoom. I have sinced learned to work with it and get what I believe are some great pics! The major downfall is that it does not take good pics in low light. Outdoor shots are the best.

Action shot of my green belt, lol.

These are just some of my examples not my best ones but most of my pics are stored on discs not conveniently in my computer.

The limitations in photography are usually those of the photographer.

Like Muushka, I have a Kodak DC4800 that is almost 6 years old and I still use it (and like it). Here's one from the Kodak:

Great crab pic! And I agree with your statement about the limitations of photography being with the photographer. We pretty much used the DC4800 in manual mode. We could make it do wonderful things!

Anywhoo, I just wanted to tell you that if you ever have problems with batteries for that camera, we have a lot (5 I think) and 2 chargers. If you ever need any, just PM me!

Great thread! Photography is exciting when you get out of "auto" :thumbsup2

I have a Canon S2-IS which I love, but yes, I do covet a DSLR - for better ISO and no shutter lag.. now that I understand all that stuff!

I have always love photograpy, but never learned the "technical" end - I just would use whatever camera I have and take photos that I liked.

I had various instamatics growing up. My Dad loved photography as well, and had 35mm cameras - he took many photos on our many many camping vacations all over North America.... it is one of my fond memories of my Dad - camera in hand!

I had a Canon SLR in the 80s, and then moved to digitial with various HP cameras, which all took good pics. My last before my Canon was a small HP that I loved - but it was limited in the zoom department - which I love having.... fast forward to one February night when I was "Dising", with some extra cash in the bank..... I saw so many pics with the S2-IS that looked fabulous that I impulsively purchased one on line....

I have taken over 5,000 photos since February - obvioulsy not all keepers, but practice material. Like Kyle who as small children and has been to Disney - I LIVE near DISNEY, and spend a great deal of time in the parks - so there is ALWAYS something to photograph. My DD9 will never be able to say she has no pictures of her childhood - some weeks a day does not go by that I don't take her picture. Having lots of pets helps too!

I have purchased a teleconverter & wide angle converter for the S2 (haven't used them yet - I had to order the adapater tube - as the one I already use for my filters is too short I assume and I get the dreaded Canon E18 error.... my adapter is shorter than the specs of the Canon adapter - so I hope this will solve the problem - it should be here the beginning of the week!)

I am enjoying taking the not so normal photo.... that this board has helped me explore... after all how many pictures of Cinderella's castle head on can one really take!!!

Here are a couple of my recent favorites.

Busch Gardens (since I usually post Disney photos..)

I read another photography board, and there is a signature from a person who posts there that is very apropos (and I apologize to said person in advance because I don't know his/her name). Anyway, it goes something like:

"Thanks for preparing that meal for me. It was really good. What pots and pans did you use?" :)

In the end, it's not about the equipment, it's about the photo...the story it tells, the moment it captured, the thought it induces.

Love reading the DIS Photography Board! Happy picture taking!

Well, I am still learning to live with the camera my husband bought me, had one I loved, it died through many years of good service with 3 small children.
So now I learn to live with a Nikon Coolpix, it has it's goods and bads, here is a pic with it.
My favorite things to photograph are my children:

And then there's the ever constant battle to get good pics for my website of my work:

all the photos are GORGEOUS.....thanks so much for taking the time to post them. Hubby bought a kodak p 850 before we went to DIsney in May. We got some awesome photos . We love it. Our granddaughter asked hubby to take some photos of her for her senior pictures and he did....We love some of them so much and also learned about the sun in her face and shades on her face too.....We are going to go out with her again when it is overcast and get more. I have already picked out two of her pictures that we love........For many years we had a Minolta Maxxium and it could do everything but the dishes. We love this new age of Digital but still hold onto the old version of film.......thanks for your photos everyone
I do not know how to post photos .....but some day I will learn......

These pictures came out awesome! :thumbsup2 Did you use a tripod? I'm still debating on what setting to use to take firework shots in Disney next month. Thanks!

Loving all of your stories and pictures. I also take a lot of pictures of my kids and dogs. Here is the first picture I took with my new camera - she's always a willing subject! paw:

gabbyrosebud, I agree those are great fireworks shots! Speaking of tripods, I am going to make it a point to carry mine with me from now on with my new camera. I've been known to set my camera on just about anything to get a good shot (boy, I'm going to miss that relic). In fact, I just [got up the nerve and] posted this on the low light thread. I never used any special settings, that will be something new for me.

I've really enjoyed seeing all of your beautiful pictures! I also don't feel worthy :worship: but WTH, here are some of mine.

We have two main cameras. An Olympus compact digital and Canon D300 (rebel).
While the rebel does not make me take better photos I tend to thing about them more so I am more pleased with result.

Another very happy Kodak user here...just replaced my 6440 with a P850 (and haven't gotten to use it in the world yet)...but here's an older shot of MNSSHP without a tripod on just a general nightscape mode (my 6440 didn't have a fireworks setting):

and yet another on auto mode:

This is a thread I'm glad to see because I've always been afraid to post too much on this particular board because of the "Kodak backlash". I have always been very happy with my older choice and I feel the same about my newer one. I did look at the Canons, but in the end I thought they were too much camera for me. Maybe one day I'll put forth the effort to learn about photography, but until then, I want the camera to do all the thinking for me!

My wife and I both have new point and shoot lightweight cameras for our trip to WDW in late october. She also has a nice digital slr but way too heavy for her to carry around all day. Its funny how many features you can find on these little cameras just by reading the manual that comes with them. I'm not the photo nut I used to be so my wife will take many more photos than I. I plan on the unexpected when she isn't looking my way and I can show her having some fun.

canon A530 for me and the sony 100 something for her

Pea-n-me, I love your low light photos, especially the one at MGM! It's beautiful!!! I think on my trip I'll bring one of those pocket tripods with me, just in case. Thank you for this thread! :thumbsup2

I have a great Olympus SLR, but was not going to lug it around the World (way too heavy), so I got a Sony Cybershot DSC-W70 at the suggestion of a couple of Dissers. It is really small, but takes wonderful pictures both outside and in.

I'd show a couple, but don't know how to post to the board.

Thanks for the thread and the great pictures.

Took my new HP P&S camera out last night to shoot my first set of photos with it. I thought they came out pretty good. Still getting comfortable with the camera. I'm not sure if it was the wind or what, but when I tried to use the various settings and flashes, my photos came out blurry. Had the best luck with the auto settings, same ones I've always used. Oh well, I'll play with them some more, but maybe I'm just meant to be an "auto focus" kind of gal. :confused3

Wow!!! I love the perspective and colors here.

I kept my Canon G3 when I upgraded to a dSLR (Canon Rebel 300). It takes great pictures and fits in my shorts pocket. Underwater enclosures are much cheeper for smaller cameras too.
