Hi! My parents, sister and I all all going to WDW in two weeks! :cheer2:
My sister is nervous about taking her 8 month old on rides. This will be the first time we go w/ kids. Can you take an 8mo old on rides like small world, peter pan's flight, Jungle cruise????? Obviously we would only take him on rides for kids. I think it's ok??? What do you think? :confused3

She can ride many rides with the baby in her lap. small world, peter pan, dumbo, etc. etc. even Haunted Mansion as the baby doesn't know that it is supposed to be scary. At least my infant didn't know! Enjoy!

When we took DD for the first time she was 10 months old. We took her on; smallworld, peter pan, buzz, pooh, snow white, carousel, etc. Basically anything that moved fairly slow with no major changes in direction. We would have taken her on Dumbo but the line was crazy. We even took her into Mickeys Philharmagic and she feel asleep during the show. :rotfl:

She can safely go on anything without a height restriction, I think. :)

I really think that once you're there your sister will not worry about taking her daughter on rides one bit... ;)

eta: I would also suggest that your sister bring a baby carrier (front style, Baby Bjorn style) to put her child in, this might help to alleviate any fears she might have about her falling overboard. :thumbsup2

We took my ds when he was just 5 months old (we were celebrating my dd's birthday.) We went on all the rides posted above and many more. When he started getting cranky we made a beeline for the TTA at MK and it put him to sleep every time. Nice and cool, slow and very relaxing!

I totally agree with all the other posters! She will be fine - the rides mentioned are all "tame" enough for an infant.

I also wanted to point out that the first thing she should do upon entering the parks is to find the baby care center and utilize it!!!! We loved them and used them often when DS was a baby and toddler!!!

This is a good source of info for her;

What are the baby stations?
Baby stations are cast member staffed areas in each of the four major parks that are set up for helping you to care for your child. They have changing areas, high chairs for feeding, breast feeding rooms, adult restroom, hot water, sinks for washing, and a room with toys and videos for your older children. These amenities are free for guest of the parks.
In addition, the stations can supply, for a small charge, emergency items that you may have forgotten to take to the park that day. Things such as, formula, diapers, Disney baby clothes, children's medicines, and other small necessities to help you get through the day. Use these stations often to get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks and to get off your feet.

These are not day care facilities so there is no place for your child to nap, but they are a great place to get your baby out of the sun for a few minutes. You will love these stations once you use them.

Where are these Baby Stations?
Magic Kingdom -- at the end of Main Street, behind the Crystal Palace Restaurant on you way to Adventureland. It is tucked away in a small courtyard near the first aid station.
Epcot -- on the backside of the Odyssey Restaurant on the walkway from Test Track to Mexico. This is a very neat station as many times the workers from the Mexican Pavilion come over to relieve the cast members. It is great to talk to them about their travels and country while you are taking a break.

MGM-Studios -- just inside the entrance near guest services on the left as you enter.

Animal Kingdom -- near the Creature Comforts gift shop in the Safari Village on the left side of The Tree of Life.

Hope this helps her feel better about the trip!!!! Good Luck!!!

Thank you for all your help!!!!! I will pass this info on to my sister!!!!!!!!!!

my daughter is 13 months and we just returned. We did not have promblems with her on any of the rides with no height requirements. safari, peterpan, small world, haunted manson, too many others to list. she also enjoyed the 3d movies.

You're welcome :)
When you get back, make a post and let us know how they fared.

Oddly enough, when my son was a lot younger, maybe 2ish, I took him to the Magic Kingdom. He absolutly loved Pirates of the Caribbean, and laughed his way through the Haunted Mansion, but he was totally terrified of It's a Small World! Go figure.

I've been taking my kids since they were small infants. We've always been able to go on anything that didn't have a height restriction and they've enjoyed them!

I took my son for the first time when he was 6 months old. There was so much for him to do and he rally enjoyed it!

My dgd will be 6 1/2 months old on our next trip. Do you think she'll be too young for the Safari at AK, or the Buzz ride at MK?

I'm thinking the Safari will be too bumpy for her, and the Buzz ride spins too much and there really isn't that much room on the seat to hold an infant.

What do you think?

I like the idea of bringing a cranky baby on TTA to fall asleep!! I can see me and my dgd on TTA and BOTH of us snoozing away while the rest of the family is off on the big rides...lol.
