We finally made reservations for SSR this summer, super excited, 1st time home, we are taking our new son and was wondering if there are any suggestions as to what to pack, not pack, must haves for an infant in SSR and WDW.

Appreciate the input!

I haven't brought a baby before, but we just brought my 2 year old. There is a pack and play in the room, but there weren't any pack and play sheets (I didn't call and ask if they were available, we just used a bed sheet for it). I would make sure to bring their blankets - my son didn't like having something other than his regular blankets :)

If you're planning on doing laundry, and you use specific soap for the baby's clothes, bring that.

There was a high chair in the room, but it was one of the restaurant style wooden ones, so if your son isn't sitting up really well, it probably won't work well for you. We saw a few families with babies bringing in the collapsable chairs that clamp onto the table. I bet they're a pain to fly with, but who knows? :)

Pak-n-play sheets or Crib Sheets (the resort will supply you with a crib free of charge)

Infamil powder pack - If you use formula these are great to throw in your diaper bag for the parks. They are single servings that you can mix in the bottle. I purchased a box of these from amazon.com

Stroller w/ wind, rain cover. We have a jeep 3 wheeled stroller and the cover we bought for rain was a blessing. It can rain at any moment in disney and this will keep the little one dry and comfortable. You will also find yourself pushing the stroller directly into the sunlight at different times of the day and the cover helps with that as well.

Bottle strap for baby bottle - connect it to the stroller you so you won't be chasing any bottles down the hills in disney.

Clip for pacifier - the ones that attach to baby's clothing. You DO NOT want your child's pacifier touching the ground in disney.

We've taken our baby at 4 months, then again at 10 months. I found that he was most comfortable in a stroller with plenty of shade. Our Maclaren didn't really cover him adequately, so I bought the umbrella accessory that clips onto it. We also bought a battery operated fan that clips onto the umbrella as well. We got lots of looks for his great 'set up'!

I was also breastfeeding him and I LOVE my Bebe au Lait Nursing Cover. I found that WDW was very baby friendly and in fact, I felt more comfortable breastfeeding at WDW than I do in my hometown. This nursing cover is very discreet, and has piping that forms sort of a 'tent' that allows you to look at your baby. WDW also has a baby care center in each park which are great. It's a nice air-conditioned place to feed your baby, freshen him up, and relax, even if just for 15-30 minutes. If you're nursing, there's a private room for that too.

Congratulations on your new baby, and have a great time!

Thank you all, these are great suggestions, exactly what I needed! I want to make sure the trip is comfortable for him as well...

I suggest using www.gardengrocer.com You can order diapers, baby wipes as well as other items to be delivered to your villa.

Be sure to use the baby care centers in the parks. Especially in the Magic kingdom... nice, quiet place for changing diapers and feeding.

When our second daughter was 7 months old, I was so glad to have brought my front carrier for when she was tired of sitting in the stroller.

Speaking of stroller I would bring my own since I know my girls are comfy in it. If it is a really hot time of year, I have also had a clip-on battery operated fan to clip onto the stroller. That combined with a light weight blankie draped on the hood of the stroller makes it cooler.

Sunscreen/swim diapers

We have used the grocery delivery services for formula, milk, yogurt and water! I can't stand paying $2.50 for a bottle of water (or using my snack credits).

As mentioned, the baby care centers are great place to relax, feed or change the baby.

A brush to clean bottles or sippy cups

Baby wash/shampoo

I have also shipped a package to myself at the resort with diapers, wipes, baby food, dish soap, etc. It gave us more room in our luggage (and lighter luggage, too). I bought the return label, too and then shipped the extras back to myself at home.

We were at WDW when our son was 4 months, 6 months, and 1 year. If your little one will be sitting in a high chair (I see that he is 2 months now, but not sure when you are going in the summer), I strongly suggest buying the stick on placemats (you can get Disney ones at Babies R Us). You just peel and stick to the table - eliminates the need to wipe the table, and helps with clean-up.

I always take my own pack n play sheet so that I don't have to worry about my son's sensitive skin coming into contact with the harsh detergents that the resorts tend to use.

I also agree that the Baby Change stations are lifesavers - except the one at Hollywood studios isn't that big.

Good luck:)

We have been with our dds at the ages of 5m, 9m and one year. I would definitely bring a sling as it works out great to take baby on rides. Especially at the MK, you can just carry baby around and get on and off of rides without waking bay if he's sleeping. You also don't have to worry about getting baby in and out of a stroller at every ride.
I agree with the nursing cover. I used mine for nursing around the parks, and would also use it to cover up dd when she was sleeping in the front sling to cover her head.
Other than that, I would just bring the typical stuff you are using at home. Disposable place covers and sippys are nice as well.
Have fun. We love WDW when our dds are little. They are so portable at that age, and will sleep great in a sling rather than having to run back to the hotel for naps.

We used the Purex 3 in 1 sheets this past December.(detergent/fabric soften/dryer sheet) They worked great... our DD was 20 months old then.

If you will hve a car there is a super-walmart not too far from wdw. We found it was much easier to pack the essentials for the flight and then go to walmart to stock up for the trip. Also if you are concerned about your son sleeping in a pack n play, we rented a full size crib from abbf.com. Have a great trip

we took our grandson @ 6 months. Besides all the things mentioned, he was very much into the "exersaucer" at that time. We rented one from A Baby's Best Friend. It was great to have for him instead of putting him on the floor all the time. Kept him quite occupied in the room. I would recommend renting anything from them, check out their web site to see what's available. I also second bringing a crib sheet from home, every "security" scent and feel will help him feel more at home when he's not home. You will very much enjoy this trip with him!:thumbsup2

We went in December when our daughter was 10 months old and will be going again when she is 15 months. We had an AWESOME time. Make sure you bring your own stroller (such a comfort to the babe) and I would also suggest renting a car. We did this and it really was a wonderful thing. We were able to keep clean clothes and extra baby food in the car while traveling lightly in the parks...not to mention we had a quick escape if our babe had a meltdown...which did not happen. Enjoy, relax and have fun! Disney with a baby is great!

We do this too. Its so much easier to go buy the diapers, formula, etc than it is to pack everything down there. If you plan on going to the pool, make sure you buy some swim diapers. We forgot them a couple of trips ago and they were $1.50 EACH at the resort store. :scared1:

I am glad to have stummbled upon this thread. Our little munchkin will be 6 months old on our trip planned for this May. I have been worrying (first time mom)about the trip with him being so young. I hadn't even thought of the rain cover for the stroller, that is ABSOLUTELY a must, thank you!

One thing I personally will be taking to make life easier is an inflatable tub for bath time. I was thinking I could also take it poolside so he can have his own space to spash around in right next to my lounge chair.

Hope you have a great trip !!!!!
