Has anyone ever traveled with a 2 month old to Magic Kingdom? We are a family of 8 adults and 5 children ages 1 - 4. We want to go to Disney to celebrate grandma's 60th birthday, as we really enjoyed Grandpa's birthday two years ago, when the grandchildren were ages 1 and 2. A new baby is expected in February and we want to go in April. The mom says she can do it as long as it's not too hot, but I am not so sure. We thought about going early before the baby is born but it would have to be soon because the mom would be too pregnant later on, and we can't all agree on a date in October or November. Any advice would be appreciated.

From just the few months I have been reading the Disboards I have seen several threads on this topic with the entire range of opinions represented. People will post saying that younger is better as the babies are easier when they are tiny. People (I am in this camp) will post saying that the risks of exposing a newborn to heat, germs, and overstimulation aren't worth it. Additionally, the new parents will probably still be adjusting to the new addition. It truly is a personal decision that the parents will have to make for themselves. Best of luck getting it all worked out! :)

We took our 5 month old DS in Jan. '05. I thought that was a great age babywise as he was not crawling yet and was easy to carry around in the Baby Bjorn carrier. He was only breastfeeding so I didn't have to worry about bringing or preparing solid foods. He was out of the sleeping/crying/fussing newborn stage and had settled into our family well so the trip was easy.

I don't think I'd personally would have taken him at 2 months. Those newborn months can be so intense. Plus I would not have wanted him to be around sooo many people with such a young immune system. Depending on the birth the mom or baby might still not be fully up to 100%. This was the case with myself and DS. With his older sister I had an easy birth experience and she was in good health. DS's birth did not go so well and he and I both needed extra medical attention. We also needed extra recovery time and for the first few months had a few more check-ups than normal. You just never know what those first few months will be like. I think its better to plan for when the baby is older or go in the fall or early winter before the baby is born.
