It has probably been almost 10 years since I have booked any flights. We are traveling to WDW in April 2013 out of Austin, TX. JetBlue opened its flights at noon today. One the price is pretty high compare to what I was seeing for this year. Two is the nonstop flight out of AUS are at an awful time especially compared to what I was seeing for flights this year. We wouldn't arrive until almost 10pm with 2 small children. So here are my questions...

1. Do prices typically go down? SWA also does a nonstop flight out of AUS so I was hoping that once they open their flights for that time period JetBlue might go down.

2. Right now, they only list the one nonstop flight, do you think they will open others? I can't imagine flying in that late with the kids.

3. Why are the flight times so different from what they currently have out of AUS like for September or October?

Thanks for helping an inexperienced flyer!

1. Airfare fluctuates constantly. For my RDU to MCO flight this fall I tracked flights for two and half months, a one way fare ranged from $124 to $376. I checked every few days. I bought my ticket at $131, nonstop, early morning flight.

2. New flights do open sometimes, equipment (planes) changes too.

3. Flight times change for many reasons. Capacity, demand, trends, etc.

You have plenty of time to get a baseline fare so you can purchase when the price is right for you. Be sure to sign up your email address with any airlines you might fly. That way you can be made aware of any sales.

1. I would hold off until Southwest comes out with their schedules.

2. Typically additional non-stops are not added.

3. Airlines adjust their schedules seasonally. It's not just your flight, they have to schedule the plane's route for the entire day.

Southwest will almost never add additional flights once their schedule is extended and announced. Airlines are reducing the number of flight to MCO in order to attempt to match capacity with the number of passengers willing to pay a profitable fare. That means fewer N/S flights.

And SW has significantly reduced flights as well :(, both direct and indirect to MCO.
