My BF and I are looking to go on vacation in October. We were thinking of Europe but with the terrorist stuff going on and some issues with my passport we decided against that. We thought Vegas might be fun for a few days. I started pricing things and for 4 days it is coming out to be around $1600 for just hotel and airfare. I keep thinking I could do a week at Disney for less then that! We just went to Disney in March so that is not an option. The BF wasn't thrilled at the time :rotfl: Does anyone have any suggestions?? We are pretty open to doing anything. I was thinking on maybe a cruise to Bermuda but I run into the passport issues again. Anyone know anything about passports?? I got my passport under my maiden name. I had it amended to my married name. I have since gotten divorced and need to get a new passport just in my maiden name. I am waiting on documents from the court before I can do that. Since I don't even have these documents yet I doubt I will have the passport by October. Thanks!!!

You should be able to "do" vegas for less than that. When I went to Vegas with my boyfriend last time we spent very little time at the hotel. You are allowed to freely roam other hotels, casinos, buffets etc, (just not swim in the pools.) You can save some money by staying at a mid-range hotel and visiting the fancier hotels like the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace. The Flamingo and Imperial Palace are both mid-strip and decently priced. Now, i'm not sure about the airfare situation because so many of the discount american airlines don't fly out of calgary but i'm sure if you keep your eyes peeled you can score a great deal. Vegas is a great vacation and there is plenty of free stuff to do once you get there. One advantage it has over any Disney vacation.... fewer children, fewer strollers, and you can imbibe in a potent potable anywhere you see fit! Have fun!!

If you are going before the end of the year, Cancun would be an option. You won't need a passport for that if you are back before Dec 31st.

You could do Vegas for a lot less then what you are coming up with unless you need to be on the strip in one of the more expensive hotels. Check with some travel agents, there are package deals to Vegas ALL the time. You could also try to priceline your airfare and hotel out there. I would also make sure you aren't going during a major convention (know of one in October for sure) the prices skyrocket during the large conventions.
