Looking for any recommendations for an inexpensive hotel near MCO for a one-night stay for the night before our 6:45 am flight departure. I am guessing we will need to be at the airport between 5 and 5:15 to play it safe (flying SWA and my youngest ds will be 5...no more preboarding!!). We were hoping for a hotel with a free shuttle that operates very early in the am.

Has anyone gotten any good deals at the hotel right at the airport? We will probably only be in the room for about 6 hours so I want to go the cheapest and still most convenient route possible.

Many thanks!!

I would try Priceline. There are probably around 25 motels/hotels near the airport.

Looking at the Bidding for Travel website, here are a few recent PL wins:

3 star Marriott Airport $31 for 5/14/04
" " " " " " " " " $32 for 5/28/04

3 star Renaissance Airport $42 for 5/30/04

3 star HI Select $46 for 6/3/04

2.5 Star Wingate Inn $41 for 5/23

According to that website, it's best to wait intil close to your stay to get the best prices.

Hope you get something at a good price!!!

Thank you both for your replies. I have never used Priceline or done any travel bidding...yet. But, those prices are what I was hoping for. We will be at POR 10/1 - 10/9 and would need the room at/near MCO for 10/9/04. So I guess I am a bit early...can you point me to any info for Priceline or bidding "strategies"?

Many Thanks!!

I'm staying at the Econolodge at the airport (1-1/2 miles away) next Friday, May 28. Got it for $33 and some change. Free airport shuttle and continental breakfast. Am guessing it will be fine for a few hours of sleep and a shower. It's not Disney, but when your plane gets in at 1 a.m., one hates to pay WL prices for 5 or 6 hours. ::yes::

You might also try www.Orbitz.com -- they usually have prices that are pretty good for airport hotels.

The Days Inn Airport has some pretty good rates 33.71 before tax. They have a complimentary shuttle, no free breakfast but there is an I-Hop connected to it, I do not know the hours it is open though.

If you decide to do Priceline and hate the unknown of not having a hotel room then make a backup CANCELABLE reservation at a hotel that fits in your price range then bid on PL when the time approaches and if you win a PL bid then you can cancel your other ressie.

You can always make an Econolodge cancelable ressie and then big a 3* and hopefully get a much nicer hotel for the same price or lower.

prncess674....the back up is a great idea...I was worried that the unknown with Priceline might be a bit nerve-wracking...thanks

helenk and Disney_Freak56....those are rates I'm hoping for for October...thanks for the info and have a wonderful time next week Disney_Freak56 and in June helenk....(wish I didn't have to wait all the way until Oct!!!)

It is really not too early to bid on a Priceline airport hotel. I would try a bid of $38 for a 3* hotel in the MCO area for the night you want. If you don't get it then you can wait a week or so and try again.

We got the Hyatt right inside the airport for $37 or 38 for our arrival night for a trip we took in April, but I bid back in December. You just never know with Priceline, but it seems to me some of their best bargains in Orlando are in the MCO area.

There is nothing to lose by bidding early if you are fairly certain your dates won't change.

I think that the rate at the Days Inn may be in effect during your trip. Try their website
