Every year my family and I all meet at my parent's winter home in the south. We only see each other at Christmas time (I'm in the midwest, brother on the west coast, sister in the south). My mom likes to have a gift under the tree (from Santa) for everyone..that may be the only gift for the adults, kids get lots more. I have been that "santa" person forever. I never have problems with something for my parents, sister and sister-in-law, nor the kids. The men have usually received a fleece top from old navy or a sweater from someplace that was having a good sale. My brother-in-law has a ton of clothes so last year my sister had requested no more clothes. So, last year I purchased LLBean personal organizer toiletry bags for each.

This year I am at a lose! Truly the gifts are rather impersonal because even though we are family, we don't see each other during the year. I don't know if someone is a coffee drinker or a complete techie....no clue! And the gifts are usually fairly inexpensive (maybe $25 each). Any ideas would be soooo appreciated!

Could you ask your sister what her husband might like? Is a bottle of wine a possibility with one of those new bottle cushion thingies (technical term :lmao:) for packing in luggage? Something for the car, like a car emergency kit? Marshmallow shooters (assuming something silly like that would go over)? Heavy duty flashlights? Screw driver set?

Unless you know them, I think guys are hard to buy for. Good luck!

Merry Christmas :santa:

In my family the guys always end up with lots of practical gifts. Think about things like an LED Flashlight, a laser level, small tools of some sort, a hand cranked weather radio, something for the car like a car wash kit, a travel mug filled with snacks or candy, gloves, some kind of organizing gadget for the garage, etc. A walk thru your local hardware store would probably give you a good starting point (ask the clerk to make some suggestions)

What about a sports cap, key chains, koozies, wallets, slippers? My husband always welcomes another Ole Miss or Saints anything. :)

My DH loves iTunes or any kind of GC like that. Those gloves with the fingers for 'smart' phones are popular this year.
Any kind of food is always a nice gift-chocolates, Pepperage Farm, marinades.

One of the multi-tools knife "type" items. I keep one in my glove compartment.

edited to add:
I just checked the Kohls link posted in a pp. I thought it was just a flashlight. It's exactly what I was suggesting.

Do the people you're buying for fly? You can probably get a digital luggage scale. Places like Target, maybe Kohls.

If the recipient doesn't have to fly home, a bottle of scotch, whiskey, etc. - whatever their preference is. (If they have to fly, they can't bring it in carryon.) Or a couple of great beers (e.g. Fin du Monde) and some glasses.

Shirt/hat/whatever of their favorite sports team.

Stack of books - bestsellers, a coffee table book, most recent Onion book, whatever.

Barbecue apron, hat, tools, thermometers, sauce.

Have fun shopping

My MIL bought these for my kids last Christmas. The kids LOVE them, probably the best gift they have ever gotten from Grandma! Great for camping or when the power goes out.

I got one for dh a few years ago and he uses it all the time. I especially like it because now I don't have to hold a flashlight for him ;)

I was in Eddie Bauer the other day and they had a down ice scraper mitt that looked nice. It has very good reviews on their website and there is a code for an extra 20% and free shipping. It is BHGDEC. They have the regular ones and then an extended one for SUV's. Here are the links:

Also an extra 6% back through ebates.

Those ice scraper mitts from eddie bauer are awesome!! I bought one for myself, and then ended up getting my parents each one for christmas. Then the ladies that work with my mom saw it and asked for them too!

What about a gift card to Home Depot/Lowes? I have never had a guy not be excited about it. It is my go to gift if I can't think of anything else. :santa:

I can't add anything to this, as I have the same problem, but wanted to take a second and say this is exactly why I like coming here. I love seeing people suggest something then to see someone else say oh I have that or I gave that to so and so and they love it.

Thanks for all the ideas!

Thanks to everyone! This is why I posted here! Disboards is my go to for EVERYTHING!!! I had been thinking about a multitool thing and I had also looked at that flashlight with the tripod! Maybe I can do them both! DH and my brother-in-law are definitely tool gadget guys. I am ashamed to say that I have NO CLUE when it comes to my brother! I don't think we've lived anywhere close to each other in a good 20 years!!!

Most appreciated!

I just ordered my BIL an assortment of English muffins from Wolfermans, since he loves to have a light snack in the evenings. My DH likes those yard-o-beef sticks from Hickory Farms, and I ordered some really nice looking pears from Harry & David for my two uncles. It gets hard year after year to find gifts for them and I hate falling back on the Amazon gift cards (even though everyone likes them) because I've done that so many times already!

We do a tricky santa exchange every year, and we do bring a "guy's gift" every year for this one.

In the past - we've gotten: Bungie cords There are many different styles/sizes available. This has been a HUGE hit.

Do any of them have propane gas grills? What about a tank nanny:

This year - we are bringing something we got a Menards - something similar to the tank nanny, however it is specifically for gas cans.

Last week I picked up a KEY LOCATOR at Kohls for dh. It has two key chains and a base unit. When you misplace your keys, you just hit the button on the base unit and your keys beep. Should be good since this always happens in our house! After coupons and discounts, it was like $12.

Looking for more ideas .....
