I'm looking for ideas through the Summer for my SO and I to do without spending a fortune. Just one day or evening a week probably...we both want to be able to save money for a while, but still have fun doing things together.

My list is lackluster so far:

Camping
I have bought a couple Groupon deals - restaurant, movie tickets that ended up being 50% or more off of regular cost.

Soooo...any ideas? :) Thanks!!

Stuff we are doing this summer, lots of movies, museums, the zoo, mini golf, hiking, bowling. This weekend we are going to tour a brewery.

We do in house movies. Pick up a redbox (usually with a code so it's either $1 or free), pick up a take and bake pizza (usually from Costco for $6) and we have dinner and a movie for under $10!

We are also lucky that we have a friend who manages an AMC theater so he gives my husband a "friends & Family" card that is good for 2 tickets to any movie (even 3D and IMAX) for free 2 hours before the showing. We see A LOT of movies, lol.

Our town and the surrounding towns do free concerts in the park.

Those are fun. You can bring your own food and drinks and a couple of lawn chairs and enjoy the music and outdoors. :)

My Husband and I have Happy hour every Friday and have done this since we first started to date. I make all kinds of appetizers and we make drinks ( if you drink) and we just talk. We try it do it in a different room in the house or outside when the weathers nice. Some times we even play games but, that's our day to reconnect with each other.....

How about a dessert-only date?
Tapas and wine
Cook at home together and eat by candlelight
Free concerts on the town green
Go jogging or take a walk together and just chat
At-home movie night marathon
Go swimming together
Hiking
Act like a tourist in your own town - go see those things everyone else visits that you've never been to
Take a Sunday drive to nowhere and bring a picnic
Have a game night, perhaps with another couple, and call it a double date
Take in a local sporting event

nice ideas.....:thumbsup2 last week DH and I picked up a pizza to go and ate it by our pretty riverfront, and the took a nice walk, a band was playing at the riverfront restaurant which made it extra nice!
I like redbox movie and takeout together(banish the kids for a couple of hours;))
a relaxing walk with the dogs.... a visit to the library.....visit local attractions that are free or cheap,or on certain days when they are:thumbsup2
buy groupons for a dinner out, last week I got a restaurant.com certificate- $10 for $100 worth of certs- bought 5 certs to use with that $10, and will use over time as we want locally...
sometimes we go to the 5.00 movie night at a local theater to see a big new release......

I like the Happy Hour idea. My husband loves to make up new drinks (we have a huge selection of liquors because we stock up when we cruise) and have cocktail time! lol. I need to call it happy hour, make a few tapas and we have a date!

I second this idea. There must be a free concert in the park every night of the week in the surrounding towns where I live. Check out groupon or your local towns discount website. I found that each local news station website has there own discount daily deal. I purchased a family membership to the Naval Park at a very inexpensive rate. Do you have a bike. A lot of parks have bike paths. You can take a small picnic in a backpack and stop whenever you would like.

Google free activities in your city. Go to your city's visitor center website and see what they have listed - also see if there is an outdoor venue that has shows/music/movies - we have one in Houston that has something going on all the time and it's a cheap fun night out.

A membership to the Zoo (and here in the Detroit area, the Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village) is some of the best money we spend all year. A trip to the Zoo anytime we want to go costs us a whopping $79 a year for our family membership. We go between meal times, so we don't feel the need to buy overpriced food there, and we can go to the Zoo for hours and hours for nothing more than the gas money to get us there.

Do you like watching sports? You could go watch a rec league play somewhere.....

State parks - hiking, biking and swimming

Go to garage sales on Saturday mornings.

:thumbsup2 This. Check out your public library as well -- they often have speakers or recitals in the evenings.

I enjoy going to Little League games as well -- you don't have to know the kids to have fun watching and rooting with the parents.

DW and I like to sit on the porch, after DD is asleep, with music playing (Pandora) and a bottle of wine. It really gives a chance to relax and "just talk".

Does your library offer free passes to museums?

Does your town/school district offer adult ed classes? cooking? art? whatever you are into!

Minor league baseball?

We used to love playing pitch n putt golf (non miniature golf) before we had kids! I really want to get back into that!

Ice skating? Roller skating?

Do you live by the water? Fishing?

whatever you do...have fun!!!

DBF and I have a date night every week! It's our tradition.

We love, love, love Groupon! Even if you think you'll never go to that place, it comes in handy when your broke and want to go out.

Check out parks for concerts. A park close to our house has concerts every weekend, and 1 dollar beer and a taco truck. Costs us about 10.00 for a fun night!

Zoo

Camping

Waterparks or Public pools, a lot of them have grills you can use to!

Thank you to everyone for the ideas! I made a list and if I find anything else I'll add it here. :)
