Hey all, I'm having a small dilemma. I would like to try to find somewhat inexpensive dresses for my girls for a home wedding. They can both afford it, but I have a nontraditional BM who has said if she's going to spend the money, she'd like to be able to wear the dress again, which I totally understand. I'm having somewhat of a traditional wedding, white dress, outside in a gazebo. I have found dresses already with my MOH that we liked, just has to take other BM to try dresses on. They are all long and formal-ish. Short dresses are cute, more likely to be worn again, but not as formal as I would like. We already tried some on.

We've only been to David's Bridal so far. That is where I got my dress.

The dresses will be chocolate brown/truffle. My date is October 4, outdoor wedding. I guess maybe looking for something around $125. I don't want them to spend alot, want to keep everyone happy. Any help is appreciated!

JCpenney has a dress thats $99 http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50434&CatID=52064&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1249d9d&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CmCatId=50434|50453|51650|52064

don’t forget to ask for a discount...we always got at least 10% off when we asked....sometimes they want a deposit that day...but it was well worth it

I definitely recommend trying a regular store over a bridal store. Of course, this is easier with fewer bridesmaids (especially if they're closer in size to each other). I only have my matron of honour (my sister) and we got her dress at the mall for $130 and didn't have to spend a dime on alterations. Alternatively for her wedding, I spent $250 on the dress and then had to spend another hundred having it altered. Plus if you get them at the mall, they're more likely to be reusable. Good luck!

A suggestion about chadwicks, make a special request that they be pulled from the same lot. A friend I knew got dresses from them and a few were off shade from the others. Customer service was ale to handle it. Just mention its for a wedding.

Definitley hit the department store clearance racks. I've worked department stores for almost a decade, you'd be amazed what you can get on those racks. Plus, with a ready to wear dress chances are it'll be fully rewearable.

I got my bridesmaid dresses from Alfred Angelo. The dress I got was only cost $120 (style 6471)and my bridesmaids said they will DEFINITELY wear it again!

if your BMs don't mind not trying on the dresses before hand I'd check out ebay. or houseofbrides.com
If they absolutely need to try the dresses on, Sears actually sells BM dresses. I saw some in their summer catalog they were really nice and very decently priced.
