Indy Jones has a height requirement of 46 inches. My son is 45 inches. What are the odds of him making it on? Any suggestions on what I can do?

Thing is, he's missed this ride everytime we go and has to wait for big sister. He really wants to go this year because of the most recent Indy movie (no - he didn't see it, but got excited because of the commercials and he knew we were going to DL this year).

Any tips?:flower3:

You can do the thick soled shoe thing but be aware, cm's have been known to make kids take off those types of shoes and measure them bare footed. Since this is really about safety, you can't blame them. Also try first thing, as the day progresses I believe your body compresses a bit and can shrink up slightly.

I know on that same ride, my dd had to take off her shoes a few years ago. She made it but most every time they checked and rechecked her. Even if you make it in the line, even if the first cm measures and lets you through, a later cm can remeasure and turn you away. So totally prepare your son right up to the point you get on (if you do) that they might turn him away. Soem cm's take their jobs more seriously than others. Which is a good thing but it can sure disappoint a little kid so close to the heigh requirement!

I hope he grows an inch, its such a cool ride! Good luck!

Make sure when they measure him that he stands with his feet together not spread apart. Practice standing tall at home before hand. And good luck! We have been waiting years to get on this ride and I think DD is finally tall enough.

What I don't understand is why Dinosaur at WDW has a shorter height restriction when it is the same ride technology? That one is puzzling to me.

OOOH! so exciting. My littlest just measured at 46" and we still have 8 months until our next trip, unless I can sneak another one in.

They are pretty tight with height.

Yes they are. My son is 46" and got stopped every time at Indy in April by a number of cast members. Rolled up tissue in the soles of his feet may give him the inch he needs.

Please be careful trying to "get around" height restrictions - they are there for the safety of your child...if he/she is under the height requirement then they possibly won't be held snugly in the seat which could lead to injury.

Believe me, I know how sad kids can be when they are too little, but I know we all want to keep them safe and happy!!!

Oh I wouldn't try the tissue thing myself  the OP just asked for tips ;)

And again, they may have him/her remove the shoes with thick soles, rolled up tissue etc. My daughter had to remove her sketchers several times our first trip to DL in 2003 when she was close to the height requirement. I wasn't trying to pull one over with those thick soled shoes and if I had been, it wouldn't have worked.

I too am puzzled why this ride has a different height requirement than Dinosaur. Which is the same vehicle and feels jerkier (thereby tossing everyone around more) than Indy.

I still am hoping for a nice growth spurt for the OP's son!

Wow! Indy is 46"? Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom is 40". I thought they were the same basic platform. Why the difference? Is it possible that Indy shakes you more than Dinosaur?

im praying my son grows to this is one ride he was so bummed he couldnt go on. He looked at me wanting to go, he couldnt. I went but while i was gone he meet aladin and jasmin lol

Oh and make sure that he stands with his feet against the post (and like another poster said, feet together). When we were on BTMRR on the 26th a little boy who was tall enough was being measured, but because he was standing with his legs apart and not against the post he was like2 inches short. He finally got it right and was allowed to get on. But make sure he does it right. The cm really wanted to let him on though, she was helping him stand correctly. it was pretty cute.

To me it feels like Indy isn't so much rougher (as in up and down), but you do get flung around alot. I love to seat in one of the outside seats and as it goes around corners, etc. have 1/2 my body get flung outside the vehicle. As far as your son being 1" shorter than the requirement, I too have had to deal with my DD8 being too short to ride many rides. She's small for her age, and just recently top 48" which is another milestone for some rides (Screamin; for one). I remember when she was just 46" that if she wore sandals, then she didn't make the cut for Indy, etc. It's my understanding that the measuring guides are adjusted for shoes so your child needs to be 46" flatfooted. When she wore cowboy boots or crocs, she made it fine.

Just prepare your DS for the fact that he may not get to ride. And, if he does get in with one CM the next time he may not. This has happened to us a few times. Remind him that there are rides that only kids can go one-take him to Redwood Creek Challenge trail and have him do the zip line. (Sequoia Smoke Jumpers Training Tower - hang onto the rope as you sit and swing zip-line style down an overhead cable. (Must be at least 42" tall).) Adults can't do the zip line, I think the max. hieght is something like 5'. I would so love to ride the zip line.

Ditto-what alot of PP said, have him stand with feet together, as straight as he can.

Have a great time.

We practiced standing before we went to DL in March since our DS 3 was just barely tall enough for some of the rides. Sometimes because kids are nice they will duck down a little to allow the CM to get their hand under the measurer. I was glad we practiced with both of our little boys, so they could go on the rides they were tall enough for and knew how to stand right. Feet together, back straight and don't duck to let the CM put a hand on their head.

The height requirement for Indy is 46" with shoes. We were just there in May and my son is under 46 inches with barefeet, but with shoes on just barely makes it. Although they measured him multiple times, he did make the cutoff and didn't have to remove his shoes. He wore his Heelys, so that gave him a little extra height.

Good luck! We were in the same situation. I wasn't sure exactly how the bar was set before we left, so I prepared him that he may not be able to ride it.

I'm guessing the Dinosaur vs. Indy height restriction has to do with CA's restrictions. CA has some really tight amusement park safety regulations and tests. There's no "manufacturer's" height restriction like on Mulholland Madness or Maliboomer. That's my guess.

I thought Indy was closed for refurb until Sept. Or did that change? I'm going in about three weeks and was so bummed!
