Individual lightning Lane return time

At Disney World in January, we could go to the ride where we purchased an individual lightning Lane any time after the start time. The return time ending was not enforced. Is it the same at Disneyland?

It's definitely enforced. What you are referring to only works for Multiple Experience passes where a ride had broken down prior. There IS a 15 minute grace period at the back end.

So what if you can’t get there in time? You were just out that money? Can you modify the time after you reserve it if you can’t get there in time?

On my last visit to DL we bought ILL passes for Rise. It went down at our return time so our ILL's got turned into MEPs. We couldn't get back there again so we were able to get them refunded (through chat the next day). Not sure about if you just don't show, but I'd think you'd be out the money in that case.

I can't say for DLR for sure, but at WDW, if you had a conflict, like a dining reservation that overlapped or something, that was easier to get the CMs to still let you through. But there is less reservation dining at DLR compared to WDW.

So what if you can’t get there in time? You were just out that money?

Yeah, pretty much. When you purchase the ILL, if the time doesn't work for you, wait for it to change to a later time. If you are held up by something out of your control, like a ride breakdown, you can explain that if you show up late.
