Are there any other indie music fans out there?
Or does anyone have any suggestions for rarely-heard-but-good music? I'm growing kind of sick of the music I listen to now, and I'm always on the search for new bands/artists that are good. Any suggestions?

I really do listen to anything. Like on my ipod I have people like Kenny Chesney to Josh Groban, to Britney Spears, to Frank Sinatra, to Aerosmith, to Hawaiian and African chant music. I'm open to anything! :teeth:

Thank you!!

Depends on what you call indie. If it's something that not too many people have heard of in the alternative genre, Citizen Cope is a good band. Landon Pigg is good too. Klaxons and The Veils and Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS).

I've listened to Citizen Cope and Landon Pigg, and I looove them!
But I'll check out the other bands.

So far, I've listened to and enjoyed:
Josh Kelley
Mercury Rev
William Fitzgerald
Joshua Radin
Loudon Wainwright III
Sufjan Stevens (LOVE HIM!)
Matt Costa
The Weepies
Ray LaMontagne
The Shins
Yael Naim
Broken Social Scene
Wilco (AMAZING!)
and lots of others. lol

I loooooooves me some indie music!

my favorites (which is a lot because I listen to music 24/7):

alphabetically, cause then I can just look at my itunes and tell you haha.

aberdeen. aberfeldy. aeroplane pageant. the american analog set. amy millan/stars (amy millan has solo stuff, but she's also in stars and they're both amazing). Animal Collective. Annuals. The Apples in Stereo. Architecture in Helsinki. Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Autumn People. The Battle Between Land and Sea. Beirut. Beulah. Bishop Allen. The Blow. Cake Bake Betty. Calexico. Camera Obscura. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Coconut Records. CocoRosie. Cold War Kids. The Decemberists. El Oso (if you go to their myspace, you can download their new EP and the song "deer teeth" is too amazing). Elliott Smith (duh). Eux Autres. Gregory and the Hawk. Grizzly Bear. An Horse. I Love Math. I'm From Barcelona. Jim Guthrie. The Last Shadow Puppets. The Long Goodbye (michael cera's band). Lydia. M. Ward. Margot & The Nuclear So and So's. The Microphones. Minus the Bear. Mirah. Morrissey/the smiths. Mount Eerie. The Mountain Goats. Okkervil River. The Old 97s. Owen. Page France. Parachute Musical. Park Ave. Pete and the Pirate. Q and not U. She & Him. Sons and Daughters. Teitur. The Thermals. Winterpills. Wolf Parade. xoxo, Panda.

I like how some are randomly lowercased, haha. Anyway, if you want more eclectic, experimental, or electronic indie, I have a whole suitcase full of bands that are superb in those categories.

Ooohh! Thank you ohdisco!!! I checked a few of them out already (The Decemberists, Morrissey & Elliott Smith) and they're amazing!
I'll definitely check the rest out.

And I've never really listened to electronic/eclectic/experiemental stuff before, but I'm definitely willing to give it a try! :teeth:

Hahaha, I got all the covered. My brother got a collection called "Classic Crooners" and it has all of that stuff on there, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Al Jolson, Tony Bennet, Ray Charles, Perry Como, all the goodies. So I made a copy of all 3 CDs.
And Vera Lynn is fantastic! I only have 3 of her songs though. I'll definitely add her to my list. I need more of her.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm definitely checking all of them out tonight! :thumbsup2
