Indianapolis DIS Meet - 2nd Annual - All Welcome

It is in Union Station in downtown Indy. I stayed there a couple of years ago at a conference. Nice Hotel.

I would say if you are going to downtown Indianapolis make sure to check out the NCAA Hall of Champions (NCAA Hall of Fame), the Indiana State Museum, The Eiteljorg (sp) Museum, and the riverwalk. You may also want to check out the Children's Museum.

I always recommend the Children's Museum! It is great, even if you do not have kids. The whole museum is world class. The Dinosphere is amazing! If you have any interest in Egyptian culture or King Tut, you must go see the King Tut exhibit at the CM. (It does require seperate admission). The museum is also opening a new Egypt exhibit this summer that is supposed to be a great look at present day Egypt.

Sooze - I asked about the Sidewalk chalk. Because they just repaved the sidewalks around the facility they said no to the chalk.

Well, boo! That stinks!! My kids love that stuff. Oh well.. we'll stick to bubbles... I'll bring all kinds of bubble-y stuff. Thanks for looking into it!

Hi Aaron,
Sorry I didn't get back to you so quickly. There will be four of us:me, DS(9), DD(9) and my dad(who always goes to Disney with us!) I think we will be bring some salads-maybe macaroni or potato salads? Will that be OK?

Hi
That will be great. I'll mark them on the list and the macaroni or potato salad.

Make sure to take a look at the link to last years meet in the first post. It will give you a good idea what to expect this year.
Looking forward to seeing you guys there.

BTW - Our daughter Anna is 9 also.

We booked a room here:

Spring Hill Suites Indianapolis Carmel
11855 N. Meridian Street
Carmel, IN 46032

We're driving down Friday night and staying until Monday.

:cool1:
That's super Ann! That hotel is right next to where I work. It's a nice location with easy access to Downtown Indianapolis. There are good restaurants nearby. N. Meridian Street connects downtown Indy to Carmel.

Carmel is the city right next to Noblesville. The drive from the hotel to the meet site should be about 15 or 20 minutes. Let me know if I can get anything for you from the hotel.

Aaron~ Thanks for doing this again! Count us in; me, DH and Dkids (16, 15, 13) I'm not sure what food we're bringing yet.

Hi Noni!
I'm glad you are coming back again. It will be nice to see you guys.

Don't worry about your food item. We are still a ways out. You can let me know the closer we get to labor day. :)

See you guys soon!

I'd really like to come but will be unable to let you know for sure if I can make it or not until a couple weeks before at best . . . would either be just me or myself and wife coming from Chicago . . . is that feasible or would it mess up your planning? I don't know what my work situation will be like right now. Let me know what I should do. Looks like you guys put on a great event last year and that many new friends were made!

Brad

Hi Brad,

No, it wouldn't mess us up at all. Just let us know when you can make it for sure. It could be 2 weeks before the meet or a spur of the moment thing. Either way we'd love to meet you guys.

Just an FYI for some of the out of towners...there is a new hotel that will be open by the time the meet rolls around in Noblesville. It's called Cambria Suites and it's located at the new Hamilton Town Center mall right off of exit 10 on I-69. This is about 5 miles from my house...and makes for a really easy drive to the meet location! For anyone who may be traveling with pets, this is not a pet-friendly property...

Here's the link for the hotel...

Well, it took a bit, but I read through all 8 pages of the thread. (Boy, I'm exhausted!:lmao:)

I'd like to come. It will be me, my DD14, and possibly DH. Not sure about him. Not sure what we'll be bringing, but we want to be on the guest list.

Sounds fun!

Hi Marie! I'm glad you will be coming. There is a lot to read through on this thread; especially if you looked at last years meet thread (the link is located in the first post).

Check back here periodically for information and updates to this years meet. When you know what you will be bringing to the meet just post it here.

See you soon!

Hi all, looking forward to seeing everyone in September :goodvibes
Got a question, though. We are going to be making an extended weekend out of this trip and I'd like to know what are the 'must-do's' for a newbie? Shanan has been to Indy before, but this will be my first time. The zoo looks cool, but what else must I visit?
Thanks for any help! :flower3:

If there's a game in town that day, the Indianapolis Indians (AAA baseball) play downtown at Victory Field. I don't know when their season ends...It's one of my favorite things to do. You can get lawn seats and bring a picnic lunch if you'd like. And I've gotten a sneak peak (of slides, at least) at an educator's workshop of the Tut exhibit, and it looks REALLY cool. I think we're the only Children's Museum to get it (though it's more of an art exhibit). You can easily spend a whole day there. Just walking (or surrey biking or pedalboating) around the canal downtown is fun, as well.

OK I hope I will make it to the meet. I have to wait for a bit to ask off from work. But it looks like I will be there along with my brother-in-law. As we are the only big Disney fans in the family.

No clue what to bring as of yet. Perhaps queso if there will be a place to plug in the crokpots. Will there be?

Scott

OK so I can't figure out how to post the link in the siggy like a lot of you have that dosent just show up as the URL. You know the click here for info link.

Can someone tell me how to do that...

Hi Scott! That's great you guys are coming. Queso sounds great...There will be a place to plug a crock pot in. I'll make sure there is some form of electricity near the food tables.

I'll mark you on the list as attending. Looking forward to seeing you guys there.

I'll PM you some information on how to post the link in your signature. :)

Just saw this on the Tech board, about our DIS friend, Caskbill. :sad1:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2204845

Some of the folks from the Indy area, or DVC folks and/or folks who have stopped by the Tech board, may remember Hoosier Bill. Bill attended several of the smaller Labor Day Indy DIS meets I organized in the past, though do not think he attended last year's meet that Aaron organized. Bill will be dearly missed, he was so helpful on the Tech board, and I hear also on the DVC board.

Too sad.
