I have read that the Indiana Jones ride has snakes in it. I have a snake phobia but would really like to ride this. Is this something I should be able to close my eyes and be okay with? I would really like to give it a try first.

There's just one snake, and I wouldn't be worried about it . It barely moves and on the music, Indy makes a comment about it and then its gone!! No harm done . If it would really bother you, do not sight on the right side of the car near the front. Get as far away from that thing as possible!!

I suggest watching a Youtube video of the ride. It's pretty dark so some parts may be hard to see. There is a GIANT snake at one part but you see it coming and sure you could close your eyes on that part. Indiana Jones is a must do, you'd be sorry if you didn't even with a fear of snakes.

The snake is large and looks fake to me but I don't have a phobia about snakes. (Spiders... different story. The spiders in Tough to be a Bug are almost at my breaking point. ) If you knew where to close your eyes you'd miss it in a blink. Maybe you could see if someone has the ride video posted online and you could check, although you'd spoil the surprise. Maybe someone else remembers exactly where it is in the ride and could tell you when to close your eyes.

Within the last three years I became deathy afraid of rattle snakes or mostly snakes in general. (I was almost attaked by one, neigbors called 911 and I was okay) but now that snakes scares the bejeebies out of me, I saw it last night and just looked away. On the ride Indy says "snakes" just close your eyes and you will be on your way.

Sorry this video misses the snake. Like the OP said, sit on the left side of the jeep and you'll be fine. Close your eyes a second after going over the bridge. It's over before ya know it.

I agree that the cobra-like varmint kind of looks fake (similar to the Dinosaur at AK). Shouldn't be a worry if you know it's coming.

Far more troublesome for Mrs. Hound & DD are the rats & large bugs that drop into the jeeps & crawl around.

Padewan Alec & I think they're kind of cute....but the ladies are not pleased when the critters start nibling on their ankles.

Blackjackdelta you are good. That was my adult daughter that was scared of snakes. I told her I would let her know when to shut her eyes! She will be just fine.
