We are thinking about flying to Disney the next trip and have found Independence Air for $69 dollars each way! Can someone give me the pros and cons of this airlines? I realize this company doesn't participate in Magical Express but I am saving $300 - $400!

I flew them out of Dulles. I honestly don't remember much of the details. I do remember the uniforms were snazzy LOL and my flight was delayed. Overall I had a fine experience with them, definitely save yourself the money!

Used them too, some delay, but a direct flight to where I was traveling, the price was right and I would consider them again.

I used them in May and not a problem. They were friendly and accommodating. they even gave us snacks....something we don't see often when flying. We are booked with them again in July, September and October. We fly out of Dulles, so a direct flight on an Airbus for us. I'm hoping for a sale soon. It's hard to buy regular price tickets with them now after all of the wonderful sales they had been having. I have $20 coupons from my last trip with them to use before they expire. They do come into Side A at Orlando, and that is where you check in when you leave. Just a small counter area.

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE FLYI!! Dh and I use them as much as possible. We flew down on Transmeridian last time and back home on FLYI and swore we would never fly anyone else again. They are a barebone kinda carrier, smaller plans and such but for the price and for the service you can't beat it!

Just flew with them from Dulles to Las Vegas and back. Everything was on time and smooth. I got airfare across the country for roundtrip under $200! The crew was very friendly and fun, got several rounds of soft drinks and snacks, and a great view of the country. A great flying experience!

I love Independence Air too! They are a nice, no frills airlines. No need to pay extra money which could be better used once you are AT the destination.:)

They were also all over CBS news, Memorial Day weekend, as one of the leading, smaller, low cost airlines prefered over the big airlines.

We used them once and had a good experience but then they got rid of our direct flights to Orlando and Tampa. :(

Anothers thumbs up for FLYI. We used them for our WDW trip back in February and would use them again without hesitation.

We had a small plane from Detroit to Dulles and then a full size from Dulles to Orlando. The crew was great and very accomodating. The pilot invited DD up to the pit before take off from Detroit (we happened to be sitting in the first row). DD has her sunglasses on (prepping for the florida sun) and he immediatelly began singing to her 'i wear my sunglasses at night'...ok, maybe a bit dorky and DD being 5 didnt get it at all...but my sister and i got a good laugh and it really started our journey off on the right foot. (she got the wings too...)

There before take-off annoucements are pre-recorded by various celebrities, so it was fun hearing those and the 'jokes' they play off. something different.

the service is great...better than most 'full service' airlines. we got drinks, snacks, mints and warm towelettes.

The attendants actually seemed like they liked working for FLYI, something that unfortunately seems rare these days.

FLYI - two thumbs up!!

We fly from dulles to wdw end of April 2005 smooth, no delay flight. Their prices are great. We flew dulles to mco for 49.00 each way, with prices like that I never drive to wdw again.

How ironic that someone'd post this today! We just learned about www.flyi.com, and we found a GREAT rate for tickets to Washington DC. We're planning to take our two girls to DC for the Labor Day weekend.

Here's one note of interest: While DH and I were looking at the rates, trying to decide whether we wanted to do this trip over Labor Day, a pop-up appeared saying that if we booked within two minutes, we'd get 20% off. What timing! It's the first pop-up I was ever glad to see. We paid about $400 for four people round-trip.

Same here!!! If anyone remembers my post a few days ago looking for transportation from Richmond to Pittsburgh I ended up learning about Indepedence Air and got a flight from Dulles to Pittsburgh for $39 including all of the taxes and fees! Just CAN'T beat THAT! :cool1:

Yes, FlyI pop ups, you have to love them. I recently found out about them and couldn't figure out why I never got them....dang AOL blocks them. Once I started watching the bottom of my screen for the number to appear I just click on them and the pop up shows up. YES, I got FIVE last week. They are totally random, and everytime I got them I was logged in. I got 3 20% offs and 2 10% off. I bought my tickets for Dulles to MCO for $119 each for our October trip and bought our September tickets for $117 roundtrip. The popup are "exit" popup and only show up when you leave the site and open another site. When you see the 1 appear under blocked pop-ups (AOL) click and open it, you then have 2 minutes to book your trip. Murphy's law is that I never have my cc close to me when this happens. I have 6 tickets left to buy for September since I was doing them individually because I was trying to use my happy bag $20 coupons, but they expired yesterday.

I know this sounds stupid but.....I can't get them to give me a pop up?? Do you have to be on the site a certain amount of time?

Who knew I would be saying: I WANT A POP UP!

(I have a pop up blocker, but it shows me when I get one, then I can click on it to read)

You sound like me. Last week hubby asked what I was doing and I was sitting at the computer "waiting for a pop up". who would know that we would WANT pop ups. OK, let me say, I haven't figured out what I do to get the pop ups. The only pattern I can figure is that I'm logged in; it always seems to be in the evening (around 8:00PMish); I go into the site and search on dates; search on different dates; look around at other things, then I DO NOT log off, but I do exit out and go to expedia or flyted (a competitor)--not sure if that's what makes it work, because I did this several times with nothing, then out of the blue, when you least expect it,,,,bang one shows up. Once you get it, I don't seem to get another for at least 24 hours, but I have logged into my husband's account, right after I get one and I get another one. For the life of me, I've tried every pattern and spend a ton of time on the PC last weekend. As I posted I did manage 5 last week and when they happen you have very little time to do it. However, keep in mind that there are 2 different ones; a 10% and 20%. I got 2 10% last week, openned them and passed, but that was it for the day. I got one on Wednesday night around 8:00PMish again and booked another ticket. There is also a corporate discount out too that gives you about a 5% discount. Search under FlyI corporate discount and you should find the site. I didn't see any requirements; i.e., needing proof. There was a 20% discount for businessweek readers, but that ended on June 12th. That one was nice too. good luck! (I've tried several times this Am and nothing). PS I have my best luck in the evenings after 7:00PM.... :goodvibes

You can get that corporate rate even if you are a baby, they don't have any verification system for that.

On my flight to Vegas I sat next to a flight attendent who was on vacation, he told me that the absolute cheapest fares they offer are put up between 15-21 days before your flight. If you wait any longer after that look for a flight from Dulles to Vegas to go up from $89 to $249 each way.

I have never flown that airline, but check southwest, if they fly near you. I just go 4 nonstop tickets from Indy to Tampa for $334.44. Go to www.iflyswa.com and download ding. It will then let you know when a new special is ready.
