Anyone have any opinions yet about Independence Air.
A couple family members of mine have flown, and said it was nice. I wondered about any other experiences?

If I book this would be my first time using them.

Thanks!

I am flying with them a few days after you are...according to your countdown..

I'm flying out of SYR to MCO, connecing in IAD(Washington-Dulles). I have never been to Washington-Dulles airport, have you? I read that the airbus planes have tv's in the seatbacks. The airbus planes are their bigger ones. (Not the 50 person regional jets.) I read that on their website.

Hopefully someone has flown with them and will fill us in on how they are.Did you get a good price for your May trip? I flew out of ROC last Sept because SYR fares were so high, but thye came down about 30 days before I was due to leave and it would of cost me $100 per ticket to change airports so I just took the nice drive down the thruway to ROC. :moped:

I actually go to college at Catholic University in Washington D.C. And everytime I've been going home for Thanskgiving Break and Christmas they are awesome. And also have been offered a job from them too. But, the personal service is AWESOME and comfy seats too mention.

As to answer all of Indepence's Flights arrive and depart in Concourse A and their Florida Flights depart and arrive in Concourse B (its one building w/ a small bridge).

Also, their seatback TV's don't arrive until the Spring but they haven't mention an official date since they are also not doing so well (most of their flights are not even half full on the regional jets).

Hope this helps!!

I am looking at May 5th, and online- I got a price of 354, after all the taxes for two tickets. Not too bad. Especailly out of Rochester... (tickets to Philly from here are 800!!)

I got a price of 369 from airtran, for the same days.... Airtran has always been the cheapest out of Rochester for me.

Jet Blue gave me a price of 457 for two tickets. But thats a 100 dollars I can spend in Disney!

Thanks for all the info guys and girls!

DW and I used Independance in November BOS-IAD-MCO.

I was very happy with their inflight service and while we had a lenghty delay at IAD, they were very informative about it and they did their best to get us to MCO ASAP.

Our planes were full (50 seat CRJ's) on both legs down and full MCO-IAD, but only 10 people IAD-BOS.

Unfortunately the A319's were not in service yet, so I can't tell you about the terminal change.

In short, we were happy with them and had a great fare that trip (99 RT) but they have been more $$ that JetBlue and Southwest on our Dec trip and our upcomming January trip.

If you don't mind changing planes and have a good fare, then I would fly them.

Thanks for the information everyone!!
I went ahead and got some tickets last night.
woo hoo, The trip is definetly official now!!!

We flew independance air to Ohio in August. They were wonderful (I live very near IAD so it is nice haveing a low cost carrier). The employees were helpful and polite. We also have serveral firends that have used them and likes it a lot (about 7 flights between us all). My biggest fear is that they go under (financially). I just booked tickets to MCO (Universal) in June for 188 RT including all taxes/fees etc.

The fly out of the A and B concouse at Dulles (These 2 are connected by the "bridge"). My one word of warining is to be on time. They close the doors and depart. Their A gates are close together - The B gates are a walk (5 - 10 min at most). You should not need to take one of the infamous Dulles Movers to get between A and B.

I'm giving them a try too, could not pass up the round trip fare they offered for where we are headed and connecting in Dulles shouldn't be too bad, we've connected there before and never had an issue. I've had some shabby dealings with "big" carriers too, as well as some excellent dealings, so we'll judge this one on its own...if we are unhappy, we won't fly them again, but I figured I've at least got to try them....plus I saved a bunch of $$$$.

Saving a bunch of $$ too and trying them in April/May. Since we leave out of Dulles we'll be on the airbus for the non-stop trip. I just couldn't past up $116 rt. Spring has always been my most expensive plane ticket, so didn't want to take any chances that TED would have a deal. Currently a ticket for me and the times I want on TED are $265 rt, so I was pretty excited about this sale. The only things I've heard negative was schedule changes and not being notified--nothing I haven't had to deal with on Delta, United, or USAir, so no big deal. I will, however, be monitoring my itinerary in case there are any schedule changes that I'm not aware of (but I do this for my United/TED flights too).
