Indecisive about resort and dining!

We currently have arrival night booked at Pop since we'll be flying in later in the evening. We'll transfer to AoA for the rest of the trip the next day.
Here's the indecisive part:
We have qsdp for our AoA stay. We are debating moving up to ddp (I already have ADRs). But for around the same cost we could cancel Pop and stay at AoA the first night with our qsdp. Which gives us 2 more meals and snacks to disperse over the trip and eliminates changing resorts.
So I'm trying to decide what is a better use of that money.

Is there some detail I'm missing in all this that might sway it one way or the other ?

I think it really depends on how important the table service meals are to your family. We enjoy the table service meals and the break that comes with it. I know there are plenty of people that find the qsdp freeing. Would anyone in your party be upset missing out on the table service?

The dining is a large part of the appeal for us when we go to Disney. We rarely ever eat out at home, partially for the cost factor and partially because of food allergies, so when we go on vacation we want to take the time and sit down for meals we are going to enjoy. Quick service meals are okay, and there are some that I would even consider good, but I rarely enjoy them the way I enjoy sitting down at say Biergarten for their buffet and entertainment, or any one of the character meals, etc. We've had some really good meals and service at Disney. We also use the TS meals as a break from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our day at Disney. Sit in the AC and relax for a while. It's helpful with the kids.

We've stayed offsite with points the first night because of a late arrival. It wasn't a big deal to head to Disney first thing in the morning, check in, and head to the parks. And AoA is literally walking distance from Pop so it would be pretty easy to head over there get your check in done and hop the bus to wherever you are going that day.

So me personally I'd upgrade my dining plan and stick with staying at Pop the first night.

IMO I think you should stay the one night at POP and do the upgraded dining plan. Especially since you already have ADR's you are looking forward to. It's only one night at POP so transferring hotels shouldn't be too much of a hassle because you won't have to unpack that much.

This is just what I think would be best for me/my family so obviously YMMV but you asked so I told you. ;)

Upgrade dining plan. One transfer isn't a big deal, being limited to QS food only would be for me.

With a 4 year old I'd go for the hotel change rather than the DDP. I've done the DDP and LOVED it....appetizers, dessert, amazing restaurants, really taking our time with our meals...but on this upcoming trip with little ones? Kind of sounds like a nightmare to me personally - my kids do not have the appropriate level of patience for a three course sit down meal!
