Incredibly Good CHEAP Wines.

I really like Beringer White Zin...it is pretty cheap. I am a big fan of St. James Winery in St. James, MO. We always buy bottles and bottles for me when we go to visit my mom. I like their Velvet White, Pink Catawba and Velvet Red (very sweet), and their Reisling (I'm a huge reisling fan! ). I also like their Country White and Country Red. (they have won awards, I'm just not sure which ones...that's kinda lost on me.)

Cheap wine, but I LIKE it!!!!

  and yes, I buy it at the GAS STATION!!!!! Wheeeeee!

My newest favorite is Arbor Mist's Black Raspberry Merlot for $3.99. I also enjoy Sutter Home's Moscato, which is fairly cheap, I buy it on the base so I don't know what the market price is, but I think it is around $3-5. They are both on the sweet side, but I enjoy them so much more than anything dry.

I like Australia Yellowtail Shiraz or Cab ...

Never tried the reds, maybe I should! I have tried their chardonnay, and it's quite nice - not outstanding, but quite drinkable!

I don't know if everyone can get this, but there is a local winery that has a wonderful white. It is so sweet, but not like Passover wine!
It is called Steamboat White by Les Bourgeois in Missouri

Riunite Lambrusco is pretty good for a cheap wine. My favorite wines have a twist-off top, no cork. :thumbsup2

Another vote for the Australian Yellowtail Merlot. I was very surprised at how good it tasted for being so inexpensive.

For inexpensive wines, we like the Bonny Doon Pacific Rim Riesling and Big House Red.

Los Vascos Cabernet and Canyon Road Cabernet are also good, under $10.

We tried 2 buck chuck when we were living in California and found it to be undrinkable...blech.... So many people like it though, so maybe we had a bad couple of bottles? :confused3

For good wine around $10, I really like Gina Gallo's wine. I think it's just called Gallo. I also like Echelon. That's about the same price.

I just discovered Golden Gate, which I kind of like. It's about $3 a bottle at my grocery store on sale right now.

I also like Stone Cellar.

Great thread!

Another vote AGAINST 2 buck chuck...yuck!

We have had some very nice wines from Trader Joe's that are inexpensive. Try Bear's Lair Cabernet for less than $8. We also liked TJ'S Coastal chardonnay for under $5 or the Penmara wines. Also like Yellow Tail. We usually don't buy anything more than $10.

World Championship Wriesling! Now that actually made me laugh out loud.

We've been fortunate enough to have experienced some of the finest French wines (on hubby's company's dime, when they hosted us for a visit there), but we have found that we must have really tacky taste in wine, because for us - the cheaper the better.

We've recently discovered Winking Owl Cabernet at Aldi's for $2.49. It's one of our very favorites, now.

I read ANY thread that has the word wine in it! I love red wine...
Thanks for starting this thread...I'm interested in everyone's likes...

I just bought a bottle of 7 Deadly Zins - It was 12.99 - a little more than what has been mentioned...
It was pretty good...Not to mention the label is cool too...

We really love that wine. That's a good price too. There's a place in the Adirondacks called Friends Lake Inn. We go there for special occasions (we spent our wedding night there). They have a great high end restaurant and a phenominal wine cellar. They've opened a wine shop that does business online. We've never had a bad wine there. They have quite a few in the $10 range.

I really like austrailian wines...with Black Opal being my favorite but here in PA it is usually about $12 pre bottle. Black swan isn't too bad.. Right now I'm drinking a Lindeman 555 not too bad..$6.99

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Ohh! I'd marry the Bonny Doon Winery if I could! They're Web site is HOT, too!! :lmao: I have a glass of the Big House White right beside me as I type. Our World Market sells several of the BD wines that I've not found elsewhere, but it's on the other side of town. I have a Shiraz I'm coveting for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday -- and I'm not sharing! :smooth:

I love Bonny Doon - those bottles are great, too. When you said World Market it reminded me of another one that I often buy there, Goats do Roam Red. I think it is around $8, it is a yummy cheapo Rhone style blend.

We've just discovered Concha Y Toro "Frontera" Cabernet and Merlot mix. At $5.99 a bottle (BJ's wholesale) it is remarkably good! Even my daughter, who can almost always accurately guess the price of any wine with one sip, has conceded that she is amazed it is so cheap. :yay:

I love Lindemans. Even cheaper and about the same taste is Vendange. I drink the chard and DH drinks the Merlot. We pay 7.99 for a 1.5 litre bottle here.

Cheers!

I'll have to remember some of these wines for the next time we go to World Market or just wine buying.

Charles Shaw-aka "2 buck Chuck" is 2.99 at Trader Joe's. And I just got a Blue Moon-Merlot for 3.99. My new Favortie Mid price is Bogle around 8.99 here.

Kae
I agree 2 buck chuck is good.
I also love Luna di Luna about 8/bottle :thumbsup2

another vote for Lambrusco Riunite - it's only like $4.95! And it's the only wine I really like at all.

Truth be told, I drank 2 bottles of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill on my wedding day :rotfl2: Ssssh, don't tell anyone, my friends all think I'm sophisticated :lmao:
