Incredibles will Bloom in May

Veronica- a pool sounds so wonderful, you must be excited especially with the nice weather finally here. I wish I had a pool to dive into after a my runs on those hot sunny days. Great job on the training. Glad you found a "burger" you like. My dh would not go near any of that stuff either. Men:confused:

Lisa- Wow what a great time improvement. Keep up the good work. you will definitely not get swept during the princess if you keep that up!

As for me today was my weigh in day. Wt loss of .8lbs this week. At least its something. I have posted my starting pic and my current pic on my journal page if anyone is interested in following me along my journey. I have a total wt loss of 10lbs in 4 weeks. :woohoo: I am thrilled and am already working harder to loose more this week. Increase my time by 10% again so this weeks runs are 38 minutes. Today made it exactly 3.1 miles. I cut my
5K down by 4 minutes in 1mths timeframe. I have a 5K race coming up on saturday. I am looking forward to the weekend already!

Good morning, everyone! I’m still waiting for my official time from the race. How long does it take for these things to post! I mean, there was like only 400 participants between the 5k and 1M family fun walk. Anyway, I did 2.5 miles yesterday in 24:14… feeling pretty good about that one! I usually take today off so I think I’ll just take the kiddos for a walk, if it doesn’t get too hot again. If I stay at home, I’ll just eat.

So I’m really excited. I have a light at the end of the tunnel with my job. Me and DH and my parents talked and I’m quitting this at the end of June. I transcribe from home but with the babies needing my attention, it’s hard to make a lot of money doing it so my mom’s gonna come out twice a week so I can knock some serious work out. Now, how do I tell the job that I’ve been at for five years now!?!

Mommyof2pirates – Congrats on 10lbs in a month, that’s just huge! And 4 minutes off your time is INCREDIBLE! You have so much to be proud of!!!

Lisah0711- Sounds like you did very well with your C25K run… keep it up, m’dear! You’re doing just awesome!

Vern – Oh my gosh, 2:20 or 2:10 sounds absolutely awesome! Can I ask what your average pace is? And what training program are you using?

Patsy – Wow, you guys really did get a lot of work done! Enjoy your son’s graduation. I’m sure it’ll be really bittersweet but you must be one proud momma!

Laura - Congrats on your 2lb loss the other day. Have you managed to get in another run? Remember, don’t let a week go by without getting a run in! You need that time for you!

Jess, depending on the day and type of run, my pace is usually around 10:20-10:30. This mornings avg was 10:07. And I felt good, not wiped out. As I train and continue to lose weight, it gets easier and I can increase my speed. Plus those speed/interval workouts are helping a lot.

My training plan currently is one my friend in CA gave to me-16 weeks long, 5 days of running each week. One run is a tempo (faster pace), one run is long and slow and one is at race pace. The other two can be just running, or hill or interval workouts. I like to do my intervals on the mill, so I tend to do those on days when I am stuck inside due to weather. But they can be done outside. If you want to see the training plan, pm me your email and I will send it to you. I also have another training plan, the one I used for WDW 2010, it is strictly a mileage based plan, no tempo or race pace runs. It works too.

Have a great Tuesday friends, I am hoping we can get in the pool tonight when we get home as it is supposed to be 90 today!!:cool2:

Jess- the races usually post the results within 24 hours. Not sure whats going on with yours. Some races are more official than others.:confused3 Have fun on your leisure day today. I hear ya about the needing to get out to avoid eating!

Veronica- a dip in the pool sounds lovely, we are hitting 90 today too. I am so envious. Have fun!

I am already freaking out because my next run is tomorrow and the forecast is sunny and 90. I have to run around 530pm since my dh has a softball game at 8. :scared: This should be interesting!

Hi Incredibles!

Although school has ended for the semester, I seem to be as busy as ever...but not as stressed. :thumbsup2

I've been very bad in that I have not done any walking or running in a while. I've got to get on the ball. I'm going to try to walk 4 miles this evening - in the hot temps. Ugh! Although I haven't been walking/running, I am riding my bike more and I'm meeting with a personal trainer once a week so I am keeping up with the exercising. Have I mentioned that I have a half-marathon coming up next weekend (1st weekend in June)? You'd think I would be training a bit better for this. :sad2:

This is one of the problems of scheduling so many half-marathons in one year. I get burned out from all the training. I end up not training like I should and open myself up for injuries. However, I will say - biking is definitely a great XT exercise. It really helps me to complete the half and full marathons. I can actually cut a long run or two out of my training by riding long distances.

Now, I don't recommend cutting out long runs for those of you training for a half or full...especially your first. You NEED those long runs (and short runs) to build up endurance and speed. However, if you have several half marathons planned within a fairly short time frame, you can get by doing some other type of endurance exercise. This also works if you are injured and need to lay of the feet for a while. Swimming is another great XT exercise. I'd like to hear what type of XT exercises you all do.

Now, I need to go back and read through the posts to see how everyone's doing. I see we have some new members here. :welcome:

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Life is crazy, y'know? :)

Since my first 10k, I had a REALLY hard time running the same distance for a few weeks, but seem to be back in the groove of 6 miles now. I may attempt to add a mile this weekend, seeing as the Wine & Dine is coming perilously close on the calendar!

Hello, Incredibles! I returned home last night from 6 days in Clearwater Beach. We had a wonderful time. I got to do a 4 mile run along the Causeway, and it was beautiful (but very, very HOT)! I know I should've run on the beach, but I didn't want to be cleaning sand out of my shoes for the next three months! We visited the Lowry Park Zoo, Great Explorations Childrens' Museum, Adventure Island (Busch Garden's water park), the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and Captain Memo's Pirate Ship. Of course, we spent plenty of time swimming as well. Unfortunately, my 5yo daughter got sand in her eye the first night, and it took days for her eye to recover, so we spent most of our time in the pool.

As far as running goes, I now have my kids home for the summer, so I am going to have to be diligent about getting my runs in. I am not sure how that will all play out, but I am determined to make it work. I am hoping to do my second 5K on June 5th, but I have to wait and see if my son's baseball tournament schedule for that weekend will cooperate. He has tournaments every weekend until the end of July, so that will add some challenges to my running schedule as well!

I missed a lot while I was gone...

I did it! Wow, that's a great feeling! I finished my first 5K today, the unofficial time was 31:20. I'm sure my time was better than that but even if that was my official time, it would have been my best. I know my first mile was unofficially 9:46. I started out close to the front and felt like a dunce when everyone kept passing me but later they were dropping like flies. I was just so proud of myself. Can't wait to see my final time. I still think I could have been better but it's 90 degrees today. Whatever, I'm proud of myself... my "unofficial" pace is 10:05.11

That is an AWESOME time! Way to go. I know you must be thrilled.

Despite my lack of traing and eating I was down 2 pounds on the scale this morning!!! I did fit in a little run this afternoon. My dd is sick and once I got her down for a little nap my dh held her till I came back. I cut it short and did about 2.5 miles and my time was not as great as I would have liked, but since I did not run at all last week I was just happy to get back in the swing of things.

My new goal is to not allow another whole week go by without running. I found I feel great if I run every two to three days, but when a week goes by it is harder to get out there.

Thanks everyone. You keep me inspired.

Congrats on the weight loss! I have lost about 5 pounds in the last month or so, but I am sure I gained some back on vacation (I haven't checked yet). I would like to lose at least 8 more, so I am going to have to get with the program now that I am home!

This has been a very productive weekend around our house. My parents are flying in on Wednesday for my son's graduation on Friday so my DH painted a room, cleaned the fish tank and cleaned up the garage....and that is just a few of the chores that got accomplished. I love it when we have family or friends come out for a visit....my house gets some much needed deep cleaning :lmao: I did take some time yesterday morning to get in a 4 mile run and it felt great! I'm hoping that getting back into some strength training is helping....it can't hurt!

Hope everyone has an incredible week! This is going to be a sad :sad1: but happy :) week for me.....I'm so very proud of my son and how he's grown into the young adult he is.....but so sad that one of my babies will be leaving the nest...

How fun and sad at the same time. Those transition times are so bittersweet. My youngest starts K this fall, and I was sad at her preschool graduation. I can only imagine that it will become much, much more emotional as they get older!

Hope your race goes well! You will be INCREDIBLE!

Well, I am off to finish vacation laundry and then off to the first game of my son's weekend tournament. Hope everyone has a great evening!

Lauren-sounds like you had a blast in clearwater! I agree with running on the beach I cant imagine its as much fun as it sounds. The ocean air might have felt good though. Glad to hear so far the running is going and Im sure with your determination you will be able to keep it going.

We are just finishing up baseball season and my dh plays softball 2-3 nights a week so hopefully once all that is over it will become easier. My son will be starting kindergarten in the fall too. I was disappointed his PreK does not do a "graduation", but then I thought it will save me a night of tears. Those things get me so emotional even when I dont really know the kids so with my own Im sure I would be a blubbering mess. I hope I dont break down as Im dropping him off on his first day of school. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone else is doing well. Its been hot the past few days. I skipped my run last night it was 95 degrees and so humid. I was planning on getting up early this morning but I couldnt pull myself out of bed. Tonight my ds has a baseball game and I have to work the snack stand. Hopefully I will get out in enough time to run. (they are also calling for severe thunderstorms) hopefully I can get my last run in before my 5K race on sat. Eating has been going well. I am following WW points perfectly. The scale isnt moving too fast anymore but I know I shouldnt weigh myself daily either. I am just trusting in my new lifestyle of eating and my running and hopefully good things will continue to happen. :goodvibes

Well, it has been a very trying week. DD has been sicker than we thought so, I have been running it's just to the dr. everyday with her. Actually, I have managed a 2 mile run and a 1 mile run followed with 40 min. on the eliptical(cause it started thundering and lightning I came inside) so far this week. I really want to increase my time. 2 weeks ago I was going a lot longer. I think it is so much harder in the heat. I am going to have to keep that in mind as I train and it is cold here in PA in Feb. then I will be going to run in FL. I'll have to think how I want to approach this. Any ideas on how you train in a different climate???

Lindsay, good luck on Saturday!!! I'm sure you are going to do great!

Boy everyone must be really busy running and keeping extra healthy, its been quite quiet on here.

Laura: I thought the same thing with the weather, right now we will get used to the warmth, then we will get used to the cold, but what happens if we get to disney and its hot....it will be a shock! I dont know if there is any good way to prepare for that but Im willing to hear any suggestions!

I am soon heading to bed to get a good night sleep before my 5K race in the morning. It starts at 815 and the forecast is mostly sunny high of 76. Hopefully we get the run in before the sun really starts to get hot. I am excited to see how well I do, my last run I completed 3.1 miles in 38. Hoping since its a race I can at least make it in 37:59 .

I started the biggest loser challenge today on the wish boards and another diser had bought a headband that said "slow is the new fast":lmao: I so need to get that!

All that matters is that I am finishing! the sad part about this race is they dont give out medals.:sad1: So all I have to show for it is a long sleeve cotton tshirt, a cloth grocery bag, and a water bottle.

I hope you all have an incredible holiday weekend!

Lindsay good luck on your race today.

Been very busy this week with a retirement party for people at my school. One special one was someone I have taught with for 33 years. I was given the honor of speaking about him. After that amount of time it was very emotional. My dh thought I would start crying but I made it through without crying. It was a great night but too much drama about presents, presentations and when and where these things could be given out. They were planning not to give any speeches or give out any gifts. I have never been to a retirement party without these things. I am glad this is over and we were able to do what we wanted to do.

Have a great weekend. I am off to celebrate my birthday. My dh is up but I don't think I am going to get my present until ds's are up because they all went in on the gift together.

Lindsay, hope your race was spectacular and incredible!

Yesterday, I woke up at 6am (!) and ran 2.5 miles in the park, before walking home, another 3 miles or so. While I had a very good time, 6am is NOT for me. What time of day do you all like to run?

During the week, I have been running about 9:00 (which is going to be very HOT and HUMID now that summer is here). On the weekend, I run about 7AM. I do like to exercise in the morning --by the time evening arrives I have no energy left--but these times are also tied to when I can fit running in with my kids' schedules. My husband travels a lot during the week, so I rely on childcare at the Y. On the weekend, I have to get going before ballgames and other activities.

I am an early bird-during the week (tues, weds, thurs,) I am out by 5:30 am. On Sat and Sun, usually 6-6:30am. If I have a really long run, I may even go out before 6am. I try to make my running as low impact on my family time as possible, so I get out early. And I have been doing it for so long that I find running any other time of day to be hard. I try to pick races that start no later than 9am. Evening runs, forget it, can't do it.

Let me chime in on timing. As a mother of 2 boys it was easier to work out at 4:30 in the morning and leave the afternoon for the boys activities. I am still an early bird and am trying to use it to get back to working out. I don't run outside but do some tapes at that hour.

I missed my Thursday night yoga class so I did a make up this morning. Much different than the one I take on Thursday night. SOme things were the same but this included weights and a lot of arm work. It was funny because the other night I was thinking about kayaking this summer and how I better get my arms in shape. I know I am going to be hurting tomorrow.

430 AM?! Bless your heart.

As for me, my favorite time is about 7pm. Waking up before work is hell on me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONA:cake:party::bday:
I hope you have a wonderful day and that you get a present that youve always wanted! Glad to hear you got your way with the retirement party and great job on the speech. I cry every time I say goodbye to someone, I could have known them for 2wks or 20 years it doesnt matter either way I ball. :lmao: So good for you for holding it together!

Amy- good job on getting the run/walk in. I definitely find myself with more energy in the evenings which is odd because I work all day but I think it becomes a great stress reliver. I do most of my weeknight runs around 730-8pm and my weekends early a.m around 7. My mind doesnt have issues with the morning runs but my body doesnt seem to like them as much.:confused3

Thanks for all the well wishes on my race. It went great today. The weather was nice and not too hot. I ran the 5K in an unofficial time of 38:30. I think my time is more official considering they used a bib rip off system. You cross the finish and walk through a block long shoot and hand off your bottom portion of the bib.:confused3 I actually crossed the start about 20 seconds after the clock started. I decided because of this timing system I would line up closer to the front. I usually head to the back. I think this made me run a little quicker than I normally do for the first 1/4 mile. I had alot of people passing me and that wasnt the greatest feeling but then I fell into my pace and it was good from there out. There were some huge hills and a lot of little ones along the way too. So I was pretty happy with my finish. My 1mile split was actually 11:35. Too bad mile 2 was closer to 13. :rotfl2: Overall I probably average around 12:30/mile.

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My husband and sons gave me Nook from Barnes and Noble. I love to read and we have way too many books in the house. This is a great way to cut down on the number of books. It took me a while to get it up and running but I have a couple of books in it right now and even downloaded the Bible for $1.99. I have a lot of things to learn but I am enjoying it. We went out to dinner and then went and got a cover for it.

Have a great evening everyone.

Dona-glad you had a nice birthday. I am undecided on the Nook or Kindle. I really like books-the smell, the feel of them. I use my library a lot, don't always buy books.

Lindsay-I posted on your journal but:thumbsup2 on your race!

I ran 4 miles today, weather was overcast and it sprinkled for the last mile. But that was the least of my worries. There is a fox that roams along the path I was running on. Another runner told me he came after her. I saw him, he came toward me, and I crossed the road. He didn't follow, but he sure was watching me pretty closely!! Then "the dance" started. I thought well my turnaround point is a convenience store, I will use their restroom. Go in, ask, kid says "we aint got one". So much for that idea. So I ran back home, perhaps a bit faster than I ordinarily would have:rotfl: Finished in 42:17, 10:34 avg pace. And there is a big "dip" in the middle. Going out is okay, since the incline in that direction is not too bad. Coming back, however, its killer. I managed to run up it 90% of the way. It has been one of the things I am trying to conquer.

No running again until Tuesday. Tomorrow we are having the family over for a cookout. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers. Potato salad, macaroni salad, deviled eggs. Brownies and chocolate chip cookies with ice cream for desert. All home made (except the ice cream). I spent all day today cooking. But I love doing it. I really enjoy cooking for a group, but I hate to cook dinner for the 3 of us each night.

Monday I get to relax!

Hi everyone. It's been busy, baseball, cub scouts, and work really do intefere with my dis time lately. I've been getting out 2-3 times a week to walk/run, and probably do 50-50, which really works for me. I'm going to sign up for my first 5k for june 16th, and looking forward to it. I'm also working on my eating again. I'm following ww, but not doing meetings, and want to get some weight off. I think if I lose some weight, I'll be able to run longer intervals too.

I did it! Wow, that's a great feeling! I finished my first 5K today, the unofficial time was 31:20. I'm sure my time was better than that but even if that was my official time, it would have been my best. I know my first mile was unofficially 9:46. Whoo hoo!! Congratulations. :cool1:

Hope everyone has an incredible week! This is going to be a sad :sad1: but happy :) week for me.....I'm so very proud of my son and how he's grown into the young adult he is.....but so sad that one of my babies will be leaving the nest...
All those special milestones are so bittersweet. Hope graduation went well.

I started my C25K over again this week. Last week I just walked but today I stared running again. I guess I was ready because I got done in 23 minutes the 1.6 miles that I usually did in 30. I will have to increase my distance next time and also my playlist on my iPod. :woohoo: Must have been my snazzy new running shirt in size XL -- who would've thought having an X in front would make you so fast?!? :rotfl2:
Nice job on the running!! Sounds like there will be no sweeping at the princess. Love that you're in an XL now!! You're doing so great.

As for me today was my weigh in day. Wt loss of .8lbs this week. At least its something. Have a great weekend. I am off to celebrate my birthday. My dh is up but I don't think I am going to get my present until ds's are up because they all went in on the gift together.
Glad the retirement party went well and you did your speech in control. I don't know if I would have been able to do that without crying. And a Happy, Happy, Birthday to you, Dona!!

Yesterday, I woke up at 6am (!) and ran 2.5 miles in the park, before walking home, another 3 miles or so. While I had a very good time, 6am is NOT for me. What time of day do you all like to run?
Mornings for me, 7:35, right after my son gets on the school bus, but on weekends, I try to get us moving within an hour of when we got up, usually 8ish. We had some hot days this week, and for summer, I'll definitely need to get out early.

Thanks for all the well wishes on my race. It went great today. The weather was nice and not too hot. I ran the 5K in an unofficial time of 38:30. Wow, I don't think I'd like a fox coming after me. Good job on getting up that incline. Have a fun cookout tomorrow. What a beautiful weekend we're having here. So lucky.

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.
