Last night I saw a television ad for the Incredibles. It said "A Disney presentation of a Pixar film". Now, unless I'm mistaken, this differs from past marketing campaigns for Pixar film which simply said "Disney and Pixar present". The new marketing seems to more clearly delineate who has done what, giving Pixar more credit for the film itself. Is this a significant strategic change, and perhaps a bit of a concession to Pixar in that Disney is not trying to take any credit for the film itself, or is this apparent change insignificant? Could Disney be trying to appease Pixar a little to aid whatever attempts might be ongoing to salvage the relationship?

Tell me what you think.

It's come to my attention that Nemo was advertised as "Disney presents a Pixar Studios animated film", so I guess there wan't much of a change with regard to the Incredibles. For some reason the language struck me this time around when it didn't with Nemo.

I just checked all of the one sheets and this is how they go:

Nemo:"Walt Disney Pictures Presents A PIXAR Animation Studios Film"

MI:"Disney-PIXAR MONSTERS, INC."

Toy Story 2:"Disney-PIXAR TOY STORY 2"

Toy Story: "Walt Disney Pictures Presents TOY STORY" (PIXAR name only in graphics)

Bugs Life:"Walt Disney Pictures Presents a PIXAR Film"

I just checked all of the one sheets
Does anyone but me find this a tad bit scarey? How many one sheets do you have WC?

Well, I have I think 42-43 at last count. In this case, I just looked online though :)

P.S.

I'm still looking for this one in English if someone was lucky enough to snag it. It'd pay your mortgage for a month or so :) :

It's ultra rare and would require an appraisal, but it's more than worth it if it's in a tube in your attic or whatever.

The Co-Production Agreement, Section 12, says in pertinent part:

(i) With respect to all paid advertising within Disney's control relating to the distribution or exploitation of the Pictures and Derivative Works (other than as specified in subparagraph (ii) below), the credits shall be, in order of appearance: (A) first line- "Walt Disney Pictures"; (B) second line - "Presents"; (C) third line - "A Pixar Film"; and (D) fourth line - the artwork title of the Picture. Pixar's credit shall be [*] in size to the [*] credit.

(ii) With respect to so called "teaser" and "trailers"
or other similar advertising (including promotional films) within Disney's control, on the screen or by radio or television, the credits accorded to the parties shall be as set forth in subparagraph (a), provided that if Disney elects not to display its animated logo, Pixar shall not be entitled to an animated logo. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if only a verbal credit is utilized, the credit shall contain references to both parties in similar fashion (e.g. "From Disney and Pixar" or "Walt Disney Pictures Presents a Pixar Film") immediately before the title, with the [*] made with [*] and [*] to the Disney credit.

(iii) Each party will insure (to the extent within its control) that any publicity relating to the Pictures, Derivative Works and Ancillary Rights shall reflect the co-equal brand established hereunder.
