Increased ticket prices coming soon?

like weekends always being one step up from the weekdays, etc.

I don't see them doing this for a multiday ticket. It would more be seasonal, a low season, mid-season and high-season. I suppose it's possible they could sell a multi-day pass that is only good mid-week. I would think that would do a very low percentage of people any good at all - but it might have a slight affect on crowds. (There is currently an obvious higher level of crowds on weekends, so you may get some people travelling Sunday - Saturday that would forgo their weekend tickets to save money on the mid-day rates - but again I think the proportion would be statisitcally insignificant. (<5 % of travelers)

I would guess (and this would have to be proven out) that if your stay bridged across two price seasons, they would make you pay the higher of the two.

Right - that was just one of the "tier" charts that people were shown in the surveys. It's not what they did for the APs though.

Presumably...like where Disney doesn't pro-rate upgrades to tickets, you'd probably have to pay the premium price for all days if you going to use it on any premium day.

There was one possible rumor that you don't so much purchase a 7-day ticket, but rather you purchase 7 one-day tickets but get a "bulk purchase" discount. But you could theoretically mix-and-match tiers of tickets.

Just imagine the level of confusion there...

Are there

I keep thinking to myself when I see stuff like this - "Does fluctuations in the individual single-day prices really affect a lot of people?" I mean, I would presume that the vast, vast majority are buying multi-day tickets or are passholders. (Most vacationers are probably getting at least a 3-4 day ticket.) Now - since they eliminated the non-expiring tickets, there may be some folks that come and buy a one-day pass, but that HAS to be a small, small, minority - certainly less than 5 %, right? I mean, who is going to spend $118 + $200 on food for a single day of food and wine festival? Seems crazy to me.

I'm of course just one person and don't represent anyone necessarily, but my in-laws live about an hour and a half away from Disney. We visit them once or twice a year and we always squeeze Disney in since it is so close. A lot of times we're just buying tickets for one or two days as it's not strictly intended to be a Disney-centered vacation. It IS crazy to spend so much at Disney so I am very interested in the single-day prices. My husband and I don't have kids so our travel-dates are very flexible, which could end up being a plus depending on how the pricing ends up being structured. I mean I know its going to increase however it shakes out, but we at least are free to pick less busy times to visit.

Well - I wasn't saying it didn't affect ANYONE - just saying I think folks in your situation are in the minority. We have friends that travel to Florida every Thanksgiving in a timeshare, and they used to buy a non-expiring ticket that they would use for several years going only for 1 or 2 days a trip. By eliminating the non-expiring, they are forced into this same single day category, or more than likely, they simply won't bother going anymore.

I still don't understand how this will play out for those of us who have already purchased mulit-day tix for future trips.
Today we just show up at MK, scan our MB's and off we go.
With seasonal pricing is my MB not going to scan until I fork over the $$ difference for the day I visited? You would think those that have already purchased tix they would be grandfathered in some way.

I can't imagine a scenario where tickets already purchased aren't honored at their original purchase price. That would be a total bait and switch, seeing as they are non refundable.

I agree - at the worst they will make them so you can't upgrade to a different ticket (more days / add park hopper) without paying for the upcharge to the new ticket, but they certainly will allow the use of the old ticket as is.

I'm pretty sure that legally they have to honor the tickets they've sold since there aren't expiration dates on them.

I purchased 2 1 day tickets earlier this week to beat the price increase. The person I bought them for is giving them as a wedding gift. I can't believe that they will need to pay an upcharge when the price increases come in to play.

I also have a FD vacation booked that I booked last September as a BounceBack offer. I called this week and added an additional day to our tickets prior to the rumoured ticket increase. I have booked bb vacations for the past 4 years and every year they are unaffected by the February park ticket price increases. I have to believe that will be the same this time. If you've already booked or paid for tickets, the price increase will not affect you.

I think if I waited until after the price increase then I would have had to pay a lot more to add one more day to my tickets.

Time will tell....and I believe that time is very soon!

I also wonder if the rumored addition of the Forbidden Journey to Express in possible preparation for Kong will jump the Express Pass prices? I know there's always people confused and upset at Universal when we've been there with the confusion around it (price difference, usability, etc.)

I also wonder how Disney is going to be realistically going to be able to handle the confusion of tiered tickets with less staff? There have been less CMs and less booths open in the AM at the parks this past week, and with reports of less staff at the resorts, it will not be pretty for a while.

Agreed. BUT, I do think they can (and likely will) be able to charge you a surcharge to upgrade them to gold level tickets. I imagine existing tickets will only be honored at a bronze level, especially if they base their bronze level on current pricing.

I don't think so. Because the tickets entitle you to access to the park. They don't say "only on certain days to be specified in the future".

So if the only difference between Gold and Bronze is what days you go in that will apply only to new tickets not existing ones.

Well...somebody post the link as soon as the sentinel/whoever decides to go ahead and publicize this, please?

I know @rteez said she's heard more rumors in the last day about it coming this weekend, but does anyone have some "hard" evidence to the rumors, or even of the rumors itself? Are they coming from good sources?

That's a "he"...

And no...nothing other than rumors...all those "insiders"...nothing official.

Id be shocked if nothing leaked out. They're never that "tight" on park announcements

I have sources on wdwmagic, wdwnt, parkscope, others on Twitter (not sure on the credibility of those though).

No they aren't. But the sentinel tends to be oblivious so who knows if they'll report anything.

If they're going to starting up charging some tickets by 30%...somebody is gonna hear it at the sentinel. And it would be silly even for them to not throw it up there.

My bad, my apologies MR. Rteez ;)

So rumors are Sunday? When would the "official" leaks start coming?
