Increased ticket prices coming soon?

True, but even a park with Star Wars Land, Toy Story Land, Avatar and Pandora, ROL and Star Wars Fireworks show would be a very good start for a 5th park IMO. A ticket I would buy for sure. PH3 and PH 4 contribute even further.

The rest indeed are improvements and additions, but coming soon none the less.

And those contribute to the "feel" of a new park coming, at least sitting here on the frozen tundra.
Once any of that exists then we can judge fairly. What is there so far wouldn't make a good side attraction IMO.

I sorry I've been away - but is there any actual news about ticket prices? I know the rumor is (1) they're going to seasonal pricing and (2) the increase has been delayed as they figure out how to market it - but is any of the chatter saying how long the delay is?? We've nailed down our fall trip dates - but haven't yet decided exactly how many park days we want...but I'd really like to get my tickets before the increase.

BTW - I believe (1) and don't believe (2) -> I can't believe that since this has been in the works for a long time (at LEAST 6 months) that they haven't already had thorough discussions of marketing it. I actually think it's maybe more about timing. I wonder if when they open up Rivers of Light/Night Safari they'll also announce opening dates for Frozen Norway and new Soarin' and "break ground" in DHS - and THEN say - "all this work going into the park has required us to increase prices". My guess is that SOME dates will actually go down in price slightly, and most dates will go up, with peak holiday periods going up probably 10-15%.

It's also possible they just raise prices by sneaking it out on a Sunday like they usually do - but tiered pricing might just be a different animal that they are worried about the bad press. (Normal price increases fly through the news cycle so fast no-one even notices.)

They _always_ sneak the price increases out on a Sunday. Most of the time, no one knows until Saturday. Occasionally the info leaks a couple days early.

I really haven't heard anything concrete. This Sunday is the last Sunday of the month, which is when they've done the last several, so if they are following their own patterns it will happen then. If they don't, then I think you are right - they are waiting for a good PR moment.

No I didn't. I don't feel the same....yet. Over the years I've seen announcements of things that never happened or were heavily altered. I'll be the first to cheer when actual progress starts.

Fair enough, it feels like it to me.

Any company starting a 5th (or 3rd) park would have nothing to show for it right out of the gate, US and WDW included-but if they announced it, had the artwork and television shows about it and broke ground, it would feel like that are adding a 5th (or 3rd) park.

Actual progress has started-have you seen the Avatar and ROL updates?

And as I mentioned earlier, Star Wars Fireworks, the Hub, D Springs (parts) are all open, and Frozen, Soarin 2 and TSM 2, night safari are nearing completion (progressing) and feel to me like parts of a 5th park taking shape.

And I think ROL (and both Avatar rides) will make more than a good side attraction.

Ticket increases likely coming Sunday. Ticket boards will soon get screens instead so they can change the ticket prices from day to day.

An example
That $100 a day EPCOT admission is the baseline It just may cost you $160 to get in on NYE and $118 on a Saturday during food and wine.

Normally I'd say that DL follows their own Mouse when it comes to these things, and I haven't paid attention much over there but yes, it looks like they are going to follow suit with WDW, and probably very closely if not at the same time.

News
Looks like Disneyland is getting the screens already for ticket boards.

That right there tells me surge pricing is about 95% certain, at least by next year if not soon. I still feel about 80% confident it is happening Sunday.

Interesting. US does this with EP even throughout the day-not sure its on a board though. Have seen it $149 ea and down to $29 ea late in the day.

To my knowledge that's been at least the situation for a while (at least since 2011) although reducing it own that low I hadn't really seen.

I started looking out at the reviews on travel sites (I like to do this to get an idea of what things to look out for when vacationing in general) and one big complaint with Universal is that people don't understand how their Express Pass is even priced. It's priced based on demand but that demand is predicted well in advance and isn't accurate.

I've seen people upset because they checked the price online weeks before they went but when they got to the parks it was much more than they thought and this was due to larger than expected crowds. They then basically said it was "bait and switch". Some did go to Guest Services where they offered either a partial refund (if they bought it at the parks) or they lowered the price (though not as low as what was shown online) of the Express Pass. It's kinda hard though because a lot of the advice is "wait til you get to the parks to see what the crowd is like" and from what I've heard the attendants (though not all) can be very pushy salespeople at the ticket counter when it comes to upselling the Express Pass ontop of admission ticket.

I've also seen people buy just the express pass online thinking that was the price for admission...now those people I can't help because it's clear as day what you are buying when you are online-at least to me.
