Anyone else notice an increase in spam email after they had bought tickets from Ticketmania online?

I am getting daily emails suggesting that I may want to increase a certain part of anatomy that I don't even have (being female!). As well as other numerous 'don't miss' offers.

Is this just a coincidence or has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Julie

No.

I am pretty much spam free and have bought two sets of tickets from ticketmania in the last 6 months.

I did once, a few years ago, have a flurry of spam which I unsubscribed from and it went away. That followed after registering with ebay.

Unfortunatley I have dozens of those adverts every day:(

My DH reackons it's me sending off for the doodah enlargement ones;) ::yes::

I used to get a lot of spam and pop ups untill i found this free web site. spybot search & destroy. Hope this helps out.

I'm getting shedloads of really quite nasty stuff at the moment, but not related to anything I've bought online. Ignoring it doesn't seem to work.

BTW you are not supposed to unsubscribe - that just shows them your email is active and you will get more, apparently.

May need to change my email address which will be so inconvenient.

I'm bombarded with popups and e-mails for the same sorts of things as you, I would love it to stop so am going to look at the site Deniseuk has suggested.

DH registered with the spy thingy today, lets hope it makes a difference.

Was just reading about this on the Dibb and aparantly (sp) they have put a block on anyone putting in ticketmania because of the spam issue.

Hi Marie,

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying? Can you give us a bit more detail?

Thanks

sorry Marie, but dont beleive thats Ticketmania....thats an entirely different issue that the DiBB site has with another company, that has led to them being 'censored'.

opps sorry yes it is gods knows what made think ticketmania l think l am going a bit senile. sorry about that.

Haven't used Ticketmania, so can't comment on them specifically, but we do get loads of unwanted (and some unsavoury) e-mails every day  Currently we're getting about 30 or so every day - that can seriously fill up your inbox if you go away for a couple of weeks!

I go through the inbox every morning (and every time I log on throughout the day),and gaily delete them all, but I'm always worried that I might miss some mail I'm actually waiting for in amongst the dross!

The biggest increase in this stuff has happened since DD registered with the NUS after starting university :(.

To assist your battle against spam you could consider "Mailwasher" available from :-

http://www.mailwasher.net/

This program is FREE (although I'm sure they appriciate a donation)

I've used it for some time now and it works pretty well. It not only detects spam messages but will :

Bounce back unwanted e-mails so it looks as if your email address is not valid. This will make the sender think your address is no longer active so your name can be removed from their list. This unique feature is great for privacy and it couldn’t be simpler!

Amongst other features.

check out their site it may be what you need.
