Inching My Way Closer to the Castle Final thoughts/future trips 4/2p90 The End 4/4p92

I would really love to ride on a Segway. It sounds like you all had fun. When my kids are older I might try that tour.

It was so fun! I think you would really enjoy it. And Jen refreshed my memory on some of the funny things Robert said, so I'll post those with my next update!

What a great morning- even after having slept in a bit. I have though about this tour, but the cost did keep me out. Next time, I'll try to bank a little extra for it. :thumbsup2 I do enjoy seeing things from a different perspective/ in a different context.

I hear ya on the cost, because that was why I was a little reluctant. But it was totally worth the extra bling to do this tour. I hope you get a chance to do it. It's fun!

That sounds like a fun way to spend a morning! Those things scare me to death though so will never happen for me:confused3

Not looking forward to hearing about the rude lady....why do people have to be that way and ruin it for everyone else:confused:

It was so much fun and so easy. Seriously, if I can do it anyone can do it!

I'm going to let Jen tell you about the rude lady because she really rubbed Jen the wrong way. I think she just let her gait down and out came this stupid comment before she knew it!

Well its November and I have a son whose a senior in high school. You know what that means - college applications! My son finally had a  (lightbulb) moment and realizes he needs to get his you know what in gear and start these applications. I have really allowed him to take the lead on the whole college thing because up until recently when I talk it just sounds like Charlie Brown's mother....wah, wah wah, wah wah.....ect.

I had suggested several schools over the summer, but he completely resisted college visits or even looking at the colleges on line. Now he wants to apply to one of those places he originally poo-poo'd. Interesting.

The whole searching for college things is very interesting. And I learned something I probably should have known from day 1 - we do not have any cost effective colleges in the state of Delaware. University of Delaware is 20K a year for an INSTATE STUDENT.

You peeps who live in Md, VA, NC have a lot more choices. I'm sure NY and PA have a lot more choices. ALOT more choices. Very depressing because my son is not going to be awarded any scholarships. :sad2:

So I feel pretty stressed right now. Not just with Brian, but I feel stressed with Nicholas, the good grade student. I feel like he REALLY has to keep his grades intact inorder to apply for scholarships.

On a lighter, though equally stressful note, my sons' school soccer team had made it into the state finals and we play tonight at 7pm. Those of you who followed last year's TR know that we won last year. To make it to the finals this year is huge. We lost some great players last year, most of whom are playing at D1 or D2 schools.

I'll keep you posted! I'll be taking lost of pics tonight so I don't bite my nails off!.

Good luck in the game that is likely going on right now!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I think all colleges no matter where you live are just crazy money....the state schools in NY are very good schools and even they are very high...so much more than when I went 100 years ago :rolleyes1 One of my nephews is graduating this year too and they have been making the tours.....so many things to consider

Oh and of course I LOVED the picture of the Sherpa storing her wares!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for making the finals!!! I told you...anyone can win on any given day.

Oh the college process. So much fun--NOT! God, how I hated that with both boys. It was easier with Andy because he was the better student and knew he wanted to stay in State; it was harder with Markie because he took the ACT three times to get a decent score (thank goodness for the last test) and he wanted to wrestle in college and go to a D3 school out of state (although the D3 schools out of state have turned out to be cheaper than the in state D3 schools). Good luck...I promise it will get better. Will Brian play soccer? Maybe he can get an athletic scholarship or a "grant" which is NOT based on grades.

I'll be thinking of you while the game is going on.

Just got caught up on your TR! The segway tour looks like SO much fun! I was watching the CM's who work there riding those things around and I was telling my DH how much I wanted to do that tour! Maybe next time! I would be afraid of falling off or crashing though! :rotfl:

Good luck with the college application process with your son, I know colleges are ridiculously expensive! :goodvibes I went to a state school here in CT and it wasn't too bad when I was there a few years ago, but the prices have increased a lot since I graduated, and I really want to go back and get my masters degree but I don't know how I'll be able to afford it! :scared1:

You never know about scholarships. Lot's of kids with grades worse than mine got more money than I did. Get him to make friends with the ladies in the guidance office who keep all of the scholarship applications, they can be a big help.

Robert was very funny and punny during our Segway tour. Before we went out he talked to us about staying single file because if you stay in formation people think it's a parade and get out of your way. And since we'd be our own parade, we had to learn how to wave. I really can't remember how he told the guys to wave, but he told us the wave was "elbow-wrist-elbow-wrist, below the crown, above the pearls ladies!"

During our freetime we were talking about the speed of the Segways and he mentioned that Larry's Segway went a little faster than ours so he could chase after runaways before we ended up in the lagoon. I am happy to report that no one went swimming on our tour.

As we were coming out of France, people were just starting to trickle in to the WS and Robert pointed them out: "See those people without wheels? They're called humans, don't hit them." Something to that effect anway! It was funnier than that because he said something about it being sad, or embarrassing, or pitiful that they didn't have wheels. Maybe he said not to stare at them or laugh, I can't remember!

We were also warned that if people started asking us about the tour that we should direct them to Larry, who was bringing up the rear, and he could tell them about it and where to sign up.

SO! We get back to the, um, other area. What the heck is it called? I want to say the convention center but that's not it. Anyway, we get back to the Innovations area where we started and just before we roll in some lady walks out and says to me "Walking's better, ya know!"; but she says it in that snarky, snooty, holier-than-thou tone! The tone that says my riding a Segway is somehow contributing to the obesity of America.

I WISH I had something clever to say to her at the moment! It just crushed my Segway high and I had this "but, um, I... did she just say that?" reaction which left me without a clever retort. I should've run her over, that's what I should've done!

Hmmm... what did we do next? Judging from my pics, we wandered out and went into Club Cool.

Where I found this...

HUGE Gummy Bears!

I belive it was in this store that MEK was confronted, with surprise, about taking pictures of the merchandise. Um, look around, we're in Disney World, people take pictures of everything here!

This is also where Flat Mickey was born! I'll let MEK introduce him.

Refreshed and ready to go, I made my plea to ride Rio del Tiempo. Ok, so it's not called that anymore but that's what I can remember. It's now the Gran Fiesta Tour and I think it's better than ever!

Upon entering Mexico I set up my camera on a trashcan-tripod and got two good shots!

If only that guy wasn't blocking the fountain. Oh well, you get the idea.

Did this entire thread go on vacation? Did we move and I wasn't invited? I'm all alone!

D4D

If it moved, I was left behind too!!

I'm around - I guess everyone else went shopping and/or napping!

I think I liked the ride in Mexico better before they stuck all that Donald stuff in there. It's cute enough, but I didn't need it. I liked seeing the volcano and all that floating by the restaurant. Maybe I should stop in La Cava first next time!

Oh, I always wish I had a snappy comeback for stupid rude people. But usually they are so stupid and rude, it would be wasted on them. Did she honestly think all of you were just lazy? Maybe it's true - ignorance is bliss. Although she didn't sound very blissful!!

Hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving!!

I was having a hard time coming up with a way to tell these two we need some updates without being rude.

I miss the song and the marketplace salesman chasing after you. The Donald addition didn't really do anything to improve the ride, IMO.

My goal is to update (and respond) to everyone before this holiday weekend is over. This is the longest I have ever left a TR go stagnant and I apologize. I am still editing soccer pics and I finally learned how to upload video, so I am busy making movies! (Not very good ones, though!)

Our kitchen renovation starts Monday so we are emptying cabinets and stuff.

Anyway, these are are all week excuses and I promise to get in gear soon!

Oh....and in case you are interested, we lost in the finals 3-2 in OT. It was a good game but the defense got pummeled one too many times.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

I haven't been checking in here lately so your absence was okay by me ;)
I meant to tell you that when I was walking over the bridge to France...you know how there is a PP usually there...well there was a CM on a Segway that was helping the PP CM and he was balancing on his Segway while messing around with the camera on the tripod...he must be a very accomplished rider  or just has really good balance :rotfl:
WHAT a rude lady.....duh it is a tour!!! A SEGWAY tour!! I think I would have liked to run her over too....although I would rather use ME's Segway because it would have been weighed down more with her Sherpa essentials :rotfl2:
I think I remember seeing those ginormous Gummy Bears in Germany too :confused3 They are the original land of Gummy bears :goodvibes

Sorry the boys lost, MaryEllen. But it must have been a great game to go to overtime.

After the Gran Fiesta Tour we wandered back towards the entrance to the WS and signed ourselves up to help SAVE THE WORLD! That's right, we joined the Kim Possible team and requested a mission near our lunch ADR at Le Cellier. They sent us over to the International Gateway to pick up our communicator and our first mission was in England. I am basing this all on memory because I have to pictures of any this, which means I was in charge of the communicator at this point. I know we got our Kim-unicator before lunch because it kept chirping at us during lunch!

The KP missions are pretty cool! I was really impressed with how interactive they were; between the countries, the Kim-unicator, and even the CM's! MEK should have some pics of the Engand mission.

I think Canada is so photogenic. I just love it! I like to take pics here but I don't often wander up the steps to see the show or the shops.

LUNCH!

9-10_WDW_284.jpg

This was my first time eating at Le Cellier seeing as how ADR's are so darn hard to get. I was excited to finally see the inside of the restaurant! Too bad it's so darn dark in there. I didn't take any pics in there because I knew my flash would be very disruptive and ineffective.

For an appetizer I got the lump crab and sweet corn custards. It was very yummy especially the sweet corn custards. For my meal I had to go with the legendary Le Cellier mushroom filet mignon.

:worship::lovestruc:cloud9:

Oh my goodness that dish is just so GOOD! I mean, WOW! I have to take DH there!

Oddly enough, the table next to us got one of each dessert so I got to see all of them and ask for opinions. I was intruiged by the Le Cellier Mount Blanc Semifreddo so I took the risk. It was... um, interesting. Very refreshing, that's for sure. The semifreddo was good, sort of like a cold mousse but lighter. The chilled fruit syrup had a little kick to it and I wasn't expecting that nor did I enjoy it. It was a mango syrup I think but the spiciness killed it for me.

Great update, Jen. I love your photos of Canada -- there is so much to take photos of there and it is truly beautiful.

I'm glad you finally got to try LeCellier. It is Mark's and my favorite (I love that filet).
