Inching My Way Closer to the Castle Final thoughts/future trips 4/2p90 The End 4/4p92

I'm scared too. I can just see my crashing or it not moving at all.

Your tour looked great! I love seeing the empty park.

Oh, I really want to do that Segway tour. (But I don't want to pay for all of my kids, so I'll have to wait for an adults-only trip....is that wrong?)

It's totally not wrong to want to omit the kids, because that would be one super expensive tour. I am a big fan of adults only tours and when Denny and I go next November I am sooooooooo doing the segway tour at FW. Can't wait! :thumbsup2

I'm scared of riding a segway. I don't know why but I am.

Oh - you would love it. It's really not scary at all. That's one of the things I loved about it. They have the instruction down to a science. Seriously, I bet there might be a really rare person who can't do it, but I think its pretty idiot proof. It was designed take the place of walking so its got to be easy.

The tour was so much fun and there is no way you would crash. I mean, I guess its possible, but HIGHLY unlikely. I am a huge spazz, so if I can do this, anyone can!

MaryEllen, congrats on the boys making it to the semi-finals. Just remember that ANYONE can win on any given day (our youngest faced a wrestler that was 40-0 going into the State Finals and everyone told him he didn't have a chance; Mark went on to defeat the kid 13-11 in overtime!).

The Segway Tour sounds like so much fun. We'll have to put that in the hat with the Backstage Tour and the Seeds Tour to see which one we will do on a future trip.

I would, for sure, be the person to leave the Segway tour on a stretcher. :sad2: But it does look fun. I can't remember what tour I took - maybe the backstage holiday decorating tour- and we were also in WS before opening and I loved it!!

Also can't wait for kitchen pics!!

I really want to do that Segway tour. I've always wanted to ride one of those.

I would like to redo my kitchen. It is getting pretty dated. The floors have been redone, but I would like new cabinets. We are getting new French Patio doors in a couple of days. The weather will probably be nasty on the day the doors are installed. :scared1:

We did get a new camera Friday, a Canon 980si. It seems to be pretty good.

Kathy - that is a great story!!!!!! I love it! I think its so cool when an athlete does something so unexpected. There is definitely some psychology to "game on" and you've got to want it more than anything to win. Tonights game is a revenge match, so you know they want it! One of their strikers mouthed off to a ref and got a red card so he is benched tonight. He scored twice in the last game, so having him off the field surely doesn't hurt! ;)

Well you know my solution to the dilema - do the premium package for one night and get ALL the above!!!!!

:rotfl2: Can I tell you that I read this last night and cracked up to the point where my son asked me "what's so funny?" You would totally be able to do it. It really wasn't hard.

I loved being in the WS before opening. It was super cool.

I promise to post kitchen pics, I just really should have taken a picture of that wall paper to show you how horrid it was.

Looks like a fun tour. I think I would fall off! Great pics as always

It was a great tour! I highly recommend it! Very funny and entertaining. And, NO, you would NOT fall off! Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Your last pictures of your girls were outstanding!

I really want to do that Segway tour. I've always wanted to ride one of those.

It's so fun! You should definitely try it! Definitely not your every day activity!

I hear ya on the dated. My kitchen has been dated for about 10 years! :rotfl: Seriously, my house was built in the mid 80's and we purchased it in 1990. The people who were the original owners did a lot of the work themselves and it was interesting what they chose to spend money on and what they neglected. They put the most beautiful crown molding in many of the rooms, but they put a remnant piece of formica on the floor. It had a huge strip of discoloration. We put hardwood on the floor within the first 5 or so years.

The kitchen countertop is a blue formica with a big seam in it and no back splash. We have basically lived with it for 20 years, but now it has to go! Our cabinets our actually being refinished with new doors and ALOT of pull outs. The contractor does all the labor himself (with the exception of the counter top - that is done by the granite company) and he told me he can do everything with our existing cabinet shells that he could with new cabinets. He's clearly very smart and tech savy and gets great recommendations. Plus he is local and grew up here. He is taking over his father's business.

I am very excited to have this done. I don't even invite people over anymore because the kitchen is such a train wreck.

I would love french doors, but the construction of our doorway prohibits it. You will see what I mean when I finally post pictures!

We did get a new camera Friday, a Canon 980si. It seems to be pretty good.

Congrats on the camera!!!!!! I hope you love it. I've never met a Canon I didn't like!

Ahhhh... Day 4! SEGWAY TOUR! YEA! I did this Segway tour back in 2005 on my solo trip to WDW. DH is over the weight limit for Segways so I don't think I'll be able to take a tour with him and I don't think a solo trip for me is upcoming... so I didn't make doing this tour again; not at all! It was great!

First, the Sherpa had to store her wares.

Then we started our training. Short video, blah, blah, possible injury, blah, blah, no horsing around, blah, blah, have fun. Whew, glad that's over. We learned to mount and dismount the Segways first, then moved forward and stopped (stopping is important!), then we turned left... and then right. Pretty soon we were in formation going round a little track! Speeding up, slowing down, going up and down hills. We also learned to dismount our Segways and walk them over obstacles (like a hose). Last time I took this tour I really liked that what you learned in class was utilized out in the World and they didn't disappoint this time around.

Based on my pictures, we must have stopped in China first. Where we learned about Fu Dogs.
9-10_WDW_256.jpg

That "thing" under its paw is a baby Fu Dog; she's protecting it. I sometimes feel like doing that my kids, so I understand.

We had to go down the ramp by the water in China which involved some serious downhill control with a sharp turn at the bottom; a little tricky, but we did fine (no one went swimming).

I believe Germany was next, where we talked about... um, something. :o
9-10_WDW_255.jpg

We rode up and around the mini-train set in Germany which has very small roads.

On to Italy, where we had to slalom through the columns! Harder than it sounds since you're about 8 inches wider on each side; you know, with tires and all.

That's Robert, he was a great tour guide and super funny! When I can remember some of things he said, I will post them here. (I'm sleep deprived right now)

Then we stopped for some free-ride time and photo op's.
9-10_WDW_253.jpg

She looks a little nervous, but she did GREAT! :cheer2:

9-10_WDW_252.jpg

Haha, I finally made HER do a day sign; what you can't appreciate in this photo is that she is slowly rolling through the shot!

On to Japan, where Monica took over the tour. Um, yeah, she was ok. Clearly still learning the spiel.

Then Morocco where all I did was get some obligatory shots.

I will re-tell some of Rob's one-liners later and I will talk about THE RUDE LADY THAT ALMOST RUINED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE!

The idea of taking this tour is beginning to grow on me. I think DH and I would love this if I could get over my fear of messing up.

Looks like y'all had a blast.

Love the picture of Mary Ellen slowly inching forward.:lmao:

Have no fear trying the tour, you can opt out at any time! They tell you that over and over; don't continue on if you're not comfortable. If you opt out after the video I think they refund your money even. So give it a shot! Go to an early tour and the only people around are the ones taking the tour with you, so there's no gawkers to spook you. If you get through the training and don't feel comfortable going out into the World then just say so, they'll take care of you from there. Someone did that the first time I did this tour.

Like the pics thus far? Ever visited the Photograhy board here at the DIS? There are some really great photogs there with plenty of friendly advice, tips, and suggestions. I also like the contest they do every week. Here's the plug part - take a look and vote for me (if you so wish, ya know, I'm not forcing you or anything). My CSR pic is group 3 of 4, pic I.

My pleasure; not only is it my FAVORITE resort, it is a great picture (hope you don't mind if I use it as my desktop photo).

I don't mind at all! CSR holds a special place in my heart too, my first WDW home before we owned DVC. We still visit CSR just about every trip and eat at the Pepper Market. I took that pic in Oct of 2003; I'll never forget that morning, the water reflecting CSR like it was a sheet of glass.

Good times :goodvibes

I totally forgot about THAT lady until you mentioned it. She was a Debbie Downer....that's for sure.

I love the photography board contests. Problem is, I can never decide which picture I like best!

Hey Mary Ellen, how many columns did you run into during the slalom?

Hee hee hee.

LOL! :rotfl2: Good one Glen. It took me a few minutes, but I finally got it! DOH!

My pleasure; not only is it my FAVORITE resort, it is a great picture (hope you don't mind if I use it as my desktop photo).

That's a great compliment!

:rotfl::rotfl: Good one Glenn!

He's quick - I'll give him that!

Wow, the segway tour sound like a lot of fun! I may have to try it at some point! I hope the rude lady didn't mess up your fun!

Well, I clearly forgot all about her until Jen mentioned it, so I would have to say No - she did not mess up my good time. She just let her gate down a little too fast.

I would really love to ride on a Segway. It sounds like you all had fun. When my kids are older I might try that tour.
