*INCEPTION* (movie) **SPOILER THREAD!!!!!**

Didn't anyone notice that the kids also had on the same clothes on that he saw in his dreams. Too much of a coincidence for the ending to be reality. What are the chances those kids would have on those clothes.

Actually, the children are very definitely not wearing the same clothes from his dreams. They are very, very similar but not the same. It's easier to catch the difference in the daughters clothes. Her pink dress goes from being completely pink in the dreams to then being pink with white sleeves at the ending. The "plaid" on the boy's shirt is very hard to catch but it's different. It took me a second time to catch this but when I was looking for it it was very obvious.

I loved this movie! I saw it with a friend last weekend and am going to see it a 2nd time with DH (who hasn't seen it) this weekend.

I do not believe the end is reality. My reasoning is that Dom reuniting with his children in that manner is based on the premise that he was charged with murder for his wife's suicide which led him to being on the run and separated from this children. While watching the suicide scene involving his wife (Mal), I was struck by how odd it was. For example, she was on a ledge in a building across from the building he entered - how does that make any sense? The room she was stepping out of was in disarray just like the room Dom entered - kind of like mirror imaging. My belief is that there is no way that scene was reality. I think they were dreaming at that time.

I am leaning towards the theory that Mal (Dom's wife) was correct in commiting suicide to get out of the dream state, and her goal is to try to get Dom to do the same. I believe that Dom is still in Limbo at the end of the movie.

I also don't think that the top differentiates between reality and dreaming as there was continued emphasis throughout the movie that each person has to have his/her own totem. The top was Mal's totem - what was Dom's?

I loved how this movie left me with so many questions. I've been thinking about it all week. I also loved the cinematography. It's worth the money to see it on the big screen IMHO.

I am looking forward to seeing it again to watch and listen to the first scene more closely. Also, there were many phrases that were repeated throughout the movie. It should be interesting to see if I come away with different conclusions after a second viewing.

I like these types of movies, Inception and Shutter Island, seen both and want to see them again. It really makes you think and gives you something to talk about afterwards.

Reality at the end. If it was a dream, his whole character arc has no point. Why go through all of that resolution with Mal and then have it be a dream? That makes no sense. Also, why not just have her be there in the end too if it is a dream (he loved and missed her)? The kids finally turn around and we see their faces too.

I think the ending was probably a dream. It's what he wanted.

But I cannot get over the fact that this was one of the WORST movies I have seen a very, very long time. I took my kids to a Pokemon movie many years ago that I fell asleep about halfway through. Other than that, I can't think of a worse movie. I really don't get what all the hype is about.

And I love Leo and the girl that was in Juno (can't think of her name). So I was shocked that I hated this movie so much.

.

I take it you didn't see Avatar? That pretty much sums up my opinion of that movie:)

Interesting! I thought for sure they were wearing the same clothes, and that's why it was obviously a dream. Think I need to watch it again.

There are a couple of things that I read to watch for if you are going to see it again.

1- Cobb only wears his wedding ring when he is dreaming. In immigrations he did not have a wedding ring on and we can therefore conclude that what happened after that is reality.

2- Someone said that after the screen goes black you can hear the top fall.

So, if you are going again, watch for these things and let us know what the results are.

I didn't notice that with the top, but another reason to rewatch.

I don't think it was real either. There were many things about his reality that made no sense. We never saw him travelling anywhere except when they were on the plane, and he said to the Ellen Page's character "do you remember how you got here?" and used that as indication they were in fact dreaming. Also Michael Cane's character didn't make a lot of sense in many ways....he was teaching in Paris yet had many English speaking American students. Leo's character was dropping off toys for his kids in Paris like their Grandfather saw them a lot; yet they lived in the states with Michael Cane's wife; another odd arrangement that they'd live so far from his work. And at the end he was there in LA picking him up despite having work in Paris. As for the kids two ages listed in the credits, on the phone they sounded much older than they looked either in his visions or at the end.

I thought Michael Caine taking him back to that house was strange too. No grandma there, but yet she was the one who was keeping them when Cobb talked to them on the phone.

Either way, the ending is by no means obvious one way or the other. It's meant to be ambiguous and up to the viewers to decide and discuss.

I've seen a few people say they think his wedding ring was his totem.

I definitely thought the movie was good. I'd like to see it again, but probably not until it comes out on dvd.
