Incentives if you don't do the tour?

After many years of 2-3 short trips to Disney World per year, I am finally in a position to purchase DVC.

I've never gone on the tour and, since my next trip will be December, I wondered if it was feasible to purchase prior to the December trip so that I can start taking advantage.

I understand that often there are incentives if you take the actual tour but will DVC offer similar incentives (e.g., price point reductions) if you just call without the tour?

I have signed up for the 15 June Webcast. Do those typically offer incentives? Thanks very much.

Generally, the incentives being offered to those who buy at WDW after taking the tour are the same ones offerred to those who just call and buy. The webcasts may provide some additonal incentives.

Before buying with December in mind be aware of the following: (a) December is only 6 months away and thus DVC members have made their reservations for December using the 11 month (at home resort) and 7 month (at another resort) reservation window; (b) December, the entire month, is one of the highest DVC demand times of the year and Christmas week is the highest; (c) any members trying to get December now may find they are out of luck except possibly for SSR or OKW if even those.

Thus, if you want to buy now AND you want to go in December, you need to do the following: inform your sales rep that you want to go in December if you buy and ask if he can assure you get what you want and give him dates and type of room. Make that request and get a response before you commit to buying. As long as you are asking to stay at what will be your homes resort, he should be able to lock in that reservation for you; the reason: Disney still has unsold inventory at the resort which it can use to provide a reservation to a new purchaser in order to get that purchaser to close on the sale, which inventory members otherwise do not have access to.

Thanks so very much for the reply. My home resort will probably be AKV since AKL is my favorite resort. I'm flexible however. Ideally, I want to go in early December but, if it is too late to book, I can go in January.

I'll certainly bring it up with my DVC representative when the time comes. Again, thanks for the reply.

The incentives are typically the same for every person, although sometimes DVC will offer better incentives to a specific group (i.e., those buying while on a Disney cruise, those attending a webcast, those attending an opening of a DVC sales center not at Disney, etc.). If you signed up for the webcast, my guess is that you will be getting the best incentives going, and DVC might throw a little extra discount on top of that. Hope to be welcoming you home soon!

I noticed you are in Indiannapolis. How far are you from Chicago? They have the Disney's Doorway to Dream store in the Woodfield Mall there where you can tour the units (it looks like BLT only though :{ and I understand some of the best incentives?? If it is not too far you may want to take a ride so you can look at the villas, if you haven't already. I am sure they will offer you the best incentives currently availalbe. Not sure if the Webcast might be better.
