Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

Just finished with our meet and greet:grouphug:

Had about 15 show up.

Thank you Shannon (bounceliketigger) for bringing the name tags.

Kathy

Sad I missed the meet. Was trying to come but got to Expo late and waited to have foot taped. Hope I run into some wishers tomorrow.

My daughter did GREAT at the kids race! She was so happy to get her medal!

We took a little time to walk around the Expo, and I got my knees taped with the KT tape. It's already peeling a bit on the sides, so I hope it keeps until tomorrow night! Also spent way too much money on T-shirts, but they were so awesome I couldn't pass them up!! :)

Sorry we couldn't make the meet. I'll be in WISH green tomorrow at the globe for the 11mpm meet-up.

Saw some of the kids with their ghost medals. So cute. Got my foot tapes at expo and I'm peeling too. Have a sock on so maybe it doesn't roll back off the bottom of my foot.

Good luck tomorrow Wish'ers. (And a lovely evening out).

It was a nice meet @ AKL& Boma. What a pleasure meeting everyone!

For those who couldn't make it, there are some folks meeting @ 8 @ the globe @ WWoS.

Good luck to all & to all a good night! Lol

It was a fun night! Glad to meet you.....hope to see you at the globe!

see you @ the globe & guess what?? I'm in corral B! We'll hav to try to do the 'corral buddy' system as was suggested last nite.

who else is in B?

right now I'm watching lizards drink from a puddle while I wait for my massage appt. Aahhhhhhh!

Tigger-I thought you said you were in C last night!
I'm so glad you are in B...see you both at the globe!

I'm pretty nervous that I'm underprepared for this race. I struggled with how to train in the few weeks between Disneyland and W&D. I got in a 9+ mile long run 2 weeks ago, but was out of town all last weekend (but on my feet walking around all of Saturday - it's got to count for something, right?) so I didn't get in another long run.

I keep reminding myself that worst case, I run the 9 miles, which I know I can do, walk the rest, and still come in before the sweepers. Because that's my only goal. Finish. Everything else is gravy.

I too am nervous that I am underprepared. I haven't run since Monday and that was only 3 miles. I am getting really excited now as it is only 5.5 hours away... But you're right, the only goal is to finish....

I'm in A, but I really think I belong in B. :) I'll probably start from the back of A.

I'm thinking so too. I was in corral C but with my proof of time, they put me in A, so I'll take the cushion but should start towards the back and right..

Good luck everyone, we'll be heading there soon!! :dance3:
Today has been tough keeping it low key, out of the sun and off the feet. I'm so ready to get this going!

I made it:cool1: I think my average pace was 15.58.

Dh (John) also finished very well my walking. He did take a spill:scared1:popcorn:: and has road rash. So if anyone saw some guy take a spill by a cone, that was him. He said the cone did not move and seemed to have lead on the base.

Tiger Lily( Lily) I hope Ted is doing okay today. He did great finishing.

Hope everyone else did well.

Kathy

I feel sooooo hungover.......and I didn't drink.

This time my surgery knee got the better of me. I was 8 and a half minutes slower than the Philly race two weeks ago - but I finished standing up. Is it typical to be slower for the second race when so close, or does it just depend? Anyway, like I said, I feel hungover and my knee is sore.....but other than that, pretty darn good. Time to ride Space Mountain!

What a great evening, that Hal marathon was a blast. My feet are paying the price today, but well worth it. This was my first Disney half marathon and the only other Disney event I have done before was the 5 k in the morning.
The after party was fun, but crowded, oh my I wasn't expecting that. It was nice meeting new DIS friend during the events and the Boma dinner the night before.
Good job everyone that participated.
Joe

Congrats all! The race was a slot of fun and so glad I did it. I finished leg 1 in 1:07:00 and our tram completed in 2:30:22! Can't sit to meet some of ya today @ Tambu!

Glad everyone enjoyed the race! It was really gr8 meeting you all. It made it worth it.

As for me this was the worst run I think I've ever had. Aarrrgh! I was kickin butt & averaging 10-11mm until somewhere in AK. Then I'm not sure what happened 1st- the violent illness or the ITB & knee issues. Lets just say I was in every dam potty stop & then some for one reason or another. So now I'm going to spend all sorts of energy analyzing the whole thing before I even think about another 1/2. I finished, & in a way the finishing meant more this time than ever, because I seriously thought I was going to have to get pulled.

Anyway, I can't wait to hear the rest of the reports.

thank you guys again for such a gr8 time!

Had a great time. Finished 1/2 hour after I wanted to but didn't get swept and did it just under 3 hours! I was keeping really good pace until I got to about mile 7-8ish, then 10 hit and it was all downhill from there, with only a little bit of jogging I walked from mile 9.5-10 on. I did jog some through the boardwalk and then the last hill I did walk but finished the last .1 with a nice run.

Very proud of my first half marathon. This definatly gives me new found respect to anyone who can do them - especially jogging / running all 13 miles!

I had a great time! I loved the spectro floats, and the osbourne lights were such an awesome surprise! I was so sore and tired at the finish once I stopped running. I ran all of my 8.3 mile leg of the relay except for a few breaks for pictures and water. I was running about 15 seconds faster a mile on sore legs, so when I stopped at the end I felt the pain!

Great job to everyone! I can't wait for the princess!

THAT was me in JANUARY. I know how you feel! My knees did not cooperate with me on this one. I took immodium to take care of the other issue...
So is it safe to say you will not join me in Philly? If i didn't start collecting money, id have to think about it myself!

Congrats on pulling through and finishing!

Congrats to everyone!:thumbsup2First race for me - finished in 2:11:02. Wanted to be a little faster, but proud of the accomplishement. Didn't really enjoy the after party - too tired and way too crowded. Feel great today and DH and I couldn't sleep. In bed at 3:00am and up by 7:40. Plan on napping now for a little and then dinner at Jiko. So happy that we don't go home until Wednesday. Plenty of time to relax and enjoy ourselvers.:goodvibesDid find it difficult to run at night. AK was great, but HS just seemed to go on forever - too many turns. Loved the weather, but felt the course was tight. We actually ran 13.35 according to our Garmin. Oh well, a big accomplishment for us all!:cool1:
