Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

You are a crazy woman! I did 10 yesterday (according to Hal, I was supposed to do 11)...did okay but made it to the car in a little over 10 so I jumped in! But there is no way I would or could do 7 today! Stay safe, girl! We only have 2 weekends to Philly!

Yeah.... Today is a couch day!

I'm glad to know that I won't be alone near the back! Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the AKL meet. DH and I are going to 'Ohana that night. I would love to meet up with everyone before the race though.

Anytime I have something big coming up, I have crazy dreams about it. Last night was my first dream about the race. I guess that means it really is getting close!

Whew! That's right, you girls are doing the Philly! I was thinking I was big time behind in training, (not just a little behind -lol!) You're going to kick butt for sure, & then REALLY be ready for the W&D!

I did 7.5 today, but man it took me forever! Ok, so the lack of food beforehand & sun beating down didn't help (I didn't go out till 10:30 & hadn't eaten anything) but STILL.....! I was averaging 12- 13, rather than my usual 11-12.

think I'm gonna start a new thread for us slow pokes. How bout an 11-13 pace group?

Are you guys going to 'Ohana that friday night before the race day? We are too for dinner, but not until 9 pm...it was the only time I could get 'Ohana all week and I really wanted it :goodvibes I have crazy dreams too, especially with Disney. I have already had dreams that I go this trip and we dont make it to the parks all week long :scared1:

I would fall into this group...especially today...what a pathetic run, I was trying for 6 today and only did 4 miles, but stuck with 12 mpm. I think overall I am going to end up anywhere between 12 - 14 mpm for the race

I'd totally be on board for this - only I'll even be to the back of that pack. Did 8.8 today, but it took me an hour and 50 minutes. Old nagging ankle injury is back and forcing me to walk more than I'd like to. Oh, well. This is my very first half, and I've said from the start that I have only two goals:

1. To finish, and
2. To not be the very last person to cross the line.

Finished the Disneyland half in 2:53. Not bad, considering that I stopped for pics and had to walk a chunk of it. I ran too fast the first mile (as always) and think that hurt me for later. So now to recover and get ready for Wine and Dine. My goal, once again, is to just finish under my own power. Under 3 hours would be nice.

Congrats on the half. I heard the unfortunate thing about everyone's chip time being 15 minutes off... I really, really hope that doesn't happen in FL

People's chip times were off? I didn't hear that at all. I'm pretty sure mine wasn't (no way I was 15 minutes faster!), and I know my friend's wasn't, because she was aiming for under 2 hours and just barely made it - but she didn't make it by 15 minutes!

Oh... unless they were 15 minutes fast and I was 15 minutes slower... that's possible, but not probable. Haven't looked at the Garmin time yet.

Yeah, apparently a LOT of people had issues.

I never heard anything about the timing being off.

My time appeared to be right, but I didn't wear my Watch so I'm not positive. Looking at the clock though and when I finished it had to be close.

What I read on Runner's World was that the 5k and 15k mats were turned off at some point.

We are going to be there at the same time! I believe our time is technically 8:55 or something silly like that. I planned it late intentionally for two reasons. First, I am trying to shift our schedules back some for the race (eat late and sleep late.) Second, I'm hoping to see Hallowishes! I just LOVE that show! We are going to the party Thursday night but would love to see it from the restaurant too.

I was on vacation last week, which involved a lot of walking, but no time for running or other working out...and now this week I'm horrendously sick! So much for a good training plan =(

I've walked all my previous races (I had a stress fracture 10 years ago that's entirely healed and approved for running, but no matter how much I warmup and stretch beforehand, I still get horrendous shin splints if I run). Unfortunately with my short legs, even a 16 minute mile pace is hard to keep up entirely walking, so I was working hard with a modified c25k to at least get SOME running in to speed the pace.
Now I'm way behind again, so any of you that want to do that 16 minute mile pace can hang out with me =)

I'm only doing the second half of the relay, so I'm hoping DH buys me a little flexibility on the timing - but he's even more out of shape than me right now, so we'll see!

Ugh...had an abysmal recovery run today. Just realizing my weak base is really going to catch up with me in this final push to the W&D half. I have a 6 mile run on tap for tomorrow so let's hope it's better than today LOL. I am pretty sure it can't get any worse. :(

Figment...i understand your stress, I'm essentially in the same boat. Hang in there and trust that your prior race experiences will get you through it. At least that's what I'm hoping :goodvibes.

BigMickeyFan..."to finish" is always the best goal and truly the most important one. It's always good to break it down to what's most important and seriously finishing the race and staying as healthy as possible is priority!

Ordered a shirt today from onemoremile.net...
Discovered them at the WDW Marthon Expo in January. Love their stuff!

May or may not wear it for the W&D, depending on the weather and how it fits.

It's blue and says:

"One Bad Mother Runner"

I am going to get some "Hello my name is" name tags for all those attending the meet and greet:grouphug: at 4PM on Friday evening at AkL in the lobby area. Hope to see everyone there.

Kathy
