Not canceling my cruises(none booked for a sure time at the moment). Now if a airplane crashes I might stop flying
owensjro said:What amazes me most is all of the people that accept what the media reports as the only version of the truth. I know some people have rose colored glasses when it comes to their favorite companies such as Disney, but apparently some people have the same towards the media.
What has been reported is so far from the complete picture that I would never make a decision on whether to "boycott" a company or not. We have no idea what led that ship to do what it did. It could have been a mid-level person deciding to get all of the facts before escalating to the captain/senior-level personnel. It could have been the process to investigate simply took that long. Yes it could have been a financial decision on DCL's part not wanting to delay the cruise. The point is, we have no idea...yet people are ready to condemn Disney.
In the end it looks like justice was served and that's what should matter. The perpetrator was handed over to authorities at the next port. Of course we have no idea what happened to him after that so I can only imagine the doom and gloom folks will assume he was set free to continue on molesting kids.

not canceling any cruises because of this but its just a sad reminder of our sick society
So I have a trip planned for next year, and I was super excited....until this news story surfaced. I am aware that stuff can happen anywhere, but instead of being excited, now I am thinking about how I am going to have a "have your guard up" conversation with my daughter which will probably worry her. I know I have had that talk with her before,(she is only 5)but I feel she might need a refresher when going on board. i have even read that people were considering canceling their cruises because of that incident. Now I am extremely weary about utilizing the nursery and kids clubs.
No offense, but I think this a pretty silly and petty reason to now be a Disney hater.
So you don't want to be an Imagineer now?

He was put on a plane back to his home country. He was not arrested.
What would have happened if DCL had reported it to FL and the family still refused to press charges and refused to leave the ship to talk to the cops? Nothing can happen if the victim refuses to talk/work with the authorities.
PatricaH has the right to spend her money where she wants.
Just like I have the right to continue with my plans for my DCL cruise next year. Anything can happen anywhere. You have to be aware of your surroundings.
And I am sure you have been following his every move since then and know that he wasn't prosecuted in his home country.
Oh, and of course it is Disney's fault that the Bahamian authorities only extradited him and didn't put him in jail.
Jim
one thing since your daughter is only 5 she should be with you at all times. The girl and the grandmother probably didn't want to press charges since they are from braizl and didn want to have to go to trail in Nassau or the uSA and also maybe the grandmother is afraid that the court would make it look like its her fault cause she let her granddaughter go on the elevator by herself
To be honest and up front.........I don't agree with ParticiaH about cancelling the cruise, but this is anything but a * silly and petty* matter...........It's a dam serious matter involving a 11 year old girl that was attacked.
All the correct facts are not out yet, but more then enough are supported from DCL and the authorities at this point not to be laughing about it!
I can only hope your not serious.
