In what kind of car did you learn to drive?

1988 Ford Escort (this was in 1991, so it was only about 3 years old.) It wasn't "my" car though. My parents let me use it sometimes if they weren't using it. I never had my own car until I bought one on my own.

My mom's '76 Pontiac Grand Prix. Thing was a friggin' YACHT. No power steering...had to spin that wheel like a pirate ship's wheel to turn LOL.

Hmmm. A big sedan that was our drivers education car in the summer of 1981 and was an automatic. All our cars at home were a stick shift. My dad didn't want me driving in winter so I waited and waited and got my regular license in March and still couldn't drive a stick shift. My mom had pity on me and drove to the park, put me behind the wheel and coached me through changing gears. We drove around the figure 8 shaped park road, starting and stopping and moving through the gears of her 1980 VW Diesel Rabbit. Then she told me to drive home! I drove a stick shift until 2008 when I purchased my first automatic.

'77 Oldsmobile 98. We called her Big Bertha. The pictures don't do it justice. This thing was a boat! So huge!

My Mom's 1986 Ford Ranger (automatic).

My Dad replaced his 1985 Ford Tempo (manual) while I was learning how to drive, so when I turned 16, I was gifted it. But I still mostly drove my Mom's truck around while I was still in high school because we lived on a hill, and I wasn't comfortable with the manual. Eventually, my Mom got tired of driving the Tempo and put her foot down that I better start driving it.

'95 Nissan Pathfinder. Loved that car, though it's now my brother's car.

At driver's ed with the teacher, they had us driving in 1998 Dodge Neons, and my own car was a 1997 Ford Taurus, green exterior AND green interior. I super loved that car.

First car I learned to drive stick in was a 2001 Ford Escape, and then later on a 1980 Datsun 210b wagon I inherited from my grandfather when he passed away. The Datsun was a lot different to drive and I often had trouble locating 2nd gear, just loosey goosey and different than what I was used to with the Escape, so for me it was like learning a second time.

Olds Delta 88 - I forget the year, but it was 1988 when I got my license, so it was probably an '84 or '85, I would guess.

A bunch of cars, it took me years to bother to get my license. As a teen it was a Dodge Grand Caravan and a Ford Ranger. After college it was the Nissan Cube and Honda Fit.
