In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Hi - Newbie post here. Thanks for the thread and all the postings. I have 6 weeks until our vacation and am trying to drop the excess (carrying quite a bit right now). But I keep getting sick which throws me off my plan, and I MUST get rid of those darn Girl Scout cookies. I do ok during the week, and then the weekends kill me (but must get rid of the cookies, the remaining boxes are going to be in Easter baskets for my mom and sister). I've dropped almost one size, getting better :-)

One fun thing I am doing with my nearly 5 year-old for exercise is that we "dance" to the Wiggles tapes. Just try doing what Greg does, I am exhausted at the end of a song. But it is fun to have my daughter with me, and soon I'll be singing along. We are going to spend 5 days at DL so I've got to get my stamina up! Sometimes we dance to HSM - although much harder to follow the moves, even when they do the instructions. Maybe we'll graduate after a couple more weeks of Wiggles tapes! My non-fun exercise is to pull weeds out of my jungle/backyard.

Thanks Again,
Julie

Welcome to the nuthouse! There's lots of fun, drama, encouragement, compititon...your above average thread.

SeptGirl branded the GS cookies Satan's minons. (or something like that). A few of us have suffered over them too.

Sorry for my lack of posts this week... it has been crazy. Looks like we are about to get a new Governor so now I am chasing down contractors to make arrangements to have job signs changed...

Anyways - I am travelling the next four days, so I will be checking in at night to see how you are all doing... Wish me luck as this is the longest run off of my Jenny Craig food since I started the plan. I hope I don't eat my way through this trip and gain back what I just lost, but when you are eating restaurant food only, it may be tough.

Sarah - I'll be looking for the Taco Bell Fresco menu... hopefully, that will have some yummy, but healthy options on it for when I am on the road...

Talk to you all soon,
Paula

Its great... I'm a huge fan of the crunchy tacos! Only 150 calories each :)

I'm W-A-Y behind on the posts here - so if this subject has been beaten to death, forgive me! But here's the deal:

I have HUGE issues with the whole BMI scale!

My DH is 5' 11", 175 pounds of pure muscle. The man has 10% body fat, and is the picture of perfect health. Yet his BMI puts him right on the cusp of being considered "overweight"

My sister is 5'5", 120 pounds (just gained 5, the freak!) and is on the lower side of "normal" for BMI....yet - she's as unhealthy as they come. Drinks, smokes, doesn't exercise...."skinny fat" is how she refers to herself. No muscle tone....

TELL ME HOW THIS MAKES SENSE???

As my kids would say "it's just like communism. Looks good on paper, but when you try to put it into practice, it doesn't work out all that well..."

LOL!!! Amen!

Thought you might like to see who caused the drama this weekend and the newest soap opera journal update!!! Be kind...

Welcome!! :welcome: I'm in Arizona too so its nice to have a fellow Zonie!! I'm in Scottsdale! Disneyland and I are bossom buddies! Anywho welcome welcome and Keep Moving Forward :)

Sweet Picture Dan & Dawn!

I see some of you are doing WW and I decided to join. My first meeting is Thursday morning at 9 a.m. I am a little nervous because I joined 2 years ago and lost 30 pounds, but ofcouse I gained it back. :headache: I think I can really do it this time and keep it off, my mind and heart seems to be working together this time. Any good advice out there.

Dawn, Hanna signed up for the ACT's on the 10th, it wasn't to bad since we went throught it with Zac, But they sure don't make the process an easy one. Hanna was getting a little frustrated not knowing what schools she wanted to go to. She actually was talking about going out west, her interest range from criminal investation (CSI work), to getting a business degree, or she always wanted to own her own salon. She has the grades to do anything, but I am just surprised she wants to maybe go farther away for college. Since Lyle and I only went to a local Vo-tech school this is all fairly new to us. Zac (my oldest) knew what school he wanted to go to and for what (Construction Management/Business) he chose UW Stout in WI. (Zac would like to take over our business) so there was not a huge amount of stress. I know alot of you on this board have gone to college and know the ropes any advise and/or information would be helpful. Sorry so long, Jodi

Welcome Julie :flower3: sure wish I could be pulling weeds right now,(not sure in the middle of summer if I would say the samething) we have a snowy/wet/dirty looking lawn right now. Our weather around here (MN) is now sure what it wants to do. (rain, snow, cold, warm)

About dancing, my girl friend lost 60 pounds by dancing and watching what she ate. She just made her own cd's at first then got herself an ipod and danced everynight in her basement. If my kids didn't think I was crazy or laugh at my moves, it sounded kind of fun. :yay:

great pic's guys! :thumbsup2

welcome OlivesMom!! :wave2:

I'm just back from today's PT session - and might I say...

MY FOOT IS FREAKIN' KILLING ME  Sorry to "yell" like that - but holy cow! After all the exercises, manipulation (oohhh sounds kinky when I say it that way...:rolleyes1 ), ultrasound, etc....it's exhausting on my poor strained tendons! :headache:

Me thinks hubby and the kids must make dinner tonight :lmao: Whoo! That's a good one - I crack me up! :rotfl2:

If my kids didn't think I was crazy or laugh at my moves, it sounded kind of fun. :yay:

I stand behind my daughter - she is quite absorbed in watching the show and doesn't notice. Once when we had to gallop around a circle she told me I was doing it wrong, but for the post part she ignores me. My moves are not pretty at all, but Wiggles is fairly easy to follow.

We also have a mini-trampoline that I bought for exercising, but don't really know what to do on it besides jump. But that wears me out fast.

oh yeah - I'm a living room dancer! :cool1: Not pretty, that's for sure! My kids (TEENAGERS!) were horrified when they *caught* me doing the Cha Cha Slide...:rolleyes1

I don't care though. I'm a mother - it's my JOB to embarrass the kids. And it comes in handy when I can threaten to dance in front of their friends if they get out of line!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

WELCOME Julie! As DWD said, we are all a bit nutty around here, but we sure are fun! Take a moment to introduce yourself when you have a minute...anything you want to share. Me? I share everything...probably way too much! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Although considering it is warm where you are and I am suffering in Maine...I may not be so nice to you. :rotfl: (kidding, of course!) This cold weather (snowing AGAIN right now) is just making me foul!

I am on WW, though not the best person for advice. Talk to Liz (Sept.) she is the goddess of points! :goodvibes I am following the plan religiously and have yet to lose a pound...but don't get me started on my plateau...it won't be pretty.

I know alot of you on this board have gone to college and know the ropes any advise and/or information would be helpful. Sorry so long, Jodi

Ooooo! Pick me! Pick me! And this is for anyone out there with these questions. I am a college professor...have been for many years. I often sit on the Admissions Committee, so I know what we look for in applicants, etc. I am familiar with tons and tons of schools and have contacts and colleagues all over the country...so feel free to ask anything. Jodi--just sent you a PM with my e-mail address, so feel free to e-mail me any time. Anyone else who wants it, just PM me and I will send it to you.

And Grumps....hello hottie! Who knew? :confused3 Hiding behind the screen name grumps when you are really all studly like...

I agree. Grumps is a hottie, with the gotee and all. He's been holding out on us.

You are the energizer bunny! Playing/running with kiddo's. Sleep not necessary. Exercise goddess. Cooks dinner for the fam while watching what she eats. Works, from what I can tell, pretty much round the clock AND has time for fun here. You exhaust me.

Yikes! Sorry you are in pain! Sounds like you are owed a foot massage! Tell DH to get ready...:rotfl2:

We also have a mini-trampoline that I bought for exercising, but don't really know what to do on it besides jump. But that wears me out fast.

Mini tramps are great for jogging in place (low/no impact) and also for core work-outs. Get on the tramp, then balance on one foot (I sort of tuck the other foot behind my calf) and get your hand weights and do bis and tris while balancing on one foot on the tramp. It take a while before you don't feel like you are gonna fall on your face...:rotfl2: ...but it is great for the core.

oh yeah - I'm a living room dancer! :cool1: Not pretty, that's for sure! My kids (TEENAGERS!) were horrified when they *caught* me doing the Cha Cha Slide...:rolleyes1

Note to self: remember this for when the kids hit teen-age years. This is AWESOME and would totally work with my kids! :lmao:

It is amazing how much you can get done once you give up sleep! :lmao: Actually, I did just get back from the pool club with the kids. They had half a day today, so each one got to pick a friend and off we went. And yes, now I am catching up on my DISing and getting ready to cook something for the family which I will not eat...:rotfl2: But...just so you know I am SO not a machine...I did not work out today at all! (Weds. is my rest day.) AND I fell victim to one of Satan's minions...:scared1:

I fell to. This years discovery was lemon chalets. I have had two with a glass of milk. They are dunkers. But today I went back for two more. I admit it, I was eating them while catching up here. I was reading olivesmom post and almost lost my cookie. I saved it from the milk and ate it. If anyone is ready for a satans minions pact, I'm ready. There should be a 12 step. Hi I'm Heather and I'm addicted to Thin Mints and Lemon Chalets. I had an aweful day with law firms. I'm really struggling. In such a haze. I am terrified though strong at the same time. I think it is survival mode. I pray my kids stay safe and that I'll work again somewhere. May not be a school.

I agree. Grumps is a hottie, with the gotee and all. He's been holding out on us.
I feel the same...if you saw pics of him in his before life...no smile at all...now that smile...makes him certifiable hunkalicious...(OMG did I sound like a teen or what!)

Thanks about the hair...I just got mine done again and not very blond at all...need to go back to her tomm and say..remember this...yeah..that is what I want! Dan loves my hair curly...says how many people would pay to have it done..but I love it strait...a lot of work and an ounce of rain and I am screwed...but love it the 4 times a year it turns out!!!
He is so not a Grumpyyoungguy...I think he was a depressed in a crappymarriagewithnolovin guy...:lmao:

Julie...how much of this thread did you read before it superglued itself to you????

I am soooo glad you are here...we all have different strengths to offer so do not hesitate to ask...cry and cheer!!!! Did you by chance have a clue what you weighed last week...we are in a little challenge...:rolleyes1

Oh is that you two together?? You are ADORABLE!!!! Both of you. :goodvibes
I've never made a womans day before...ask Celery Stalker about that one!!!!!! Thanks...I love those pics...
You just totally made my (fairly awful otherwise) day!!!

This is a quick drive-by, I have someone in my cube all day training and he is at lunch.

Y'all are so steenkin cute!!! :lovestruc
Awww...geee...shucks....

Dan, I must say you look HAPPY now! So handsome!

Dawn, You are radiant! Absolutely beautiful!

I'm so happy for you!!!!

You are welcome!
I am so glad you said you thought he looks happy...I don't think he looks like the same person as 1 year ago..totally different man...THANK YOU!!!
 Ditto. Made my day too! Your smiles are beautiful. You are both smiling with your eyes. Radiate the happiness :) !

:flower3:
I was thinking of getting braces to match him...but he says if I do...he will cry..(ok..shh..come closer...yesterday..on the radio...he called a station...(they were talking about pure animal instinct attraction for men...some guys said ponytails on their wives, certain colors...etc...) he said it was my smile...COULD I HAE BOUGHT A BETTER MAN???

Hi guys...tonight on the CBS news with Katie Couric...Tupperware is being featured as a job for today...2 of my friends were interviewed...it should be a neat segment to watch. They went to a party as well as interviewed them.

I would appreciate any feedback to help me recruit based on this...can I ask you guys to watch it and then give me some points of interest you gathered from it....everyone joins for different reasons so whatwas important for you is what I need.
Again...on between 5:30 and 6 Central time so base that when you watch it in your time zone...I totally appreciate any help.....

THANKS....
:lovestruc  :thumbsup2

It's on at 6 o'clock here I think. I'll be watchin'.

I only read the first couple of pages - I am quite a smarty-pants (normally I would call myself something else, but don't want to swear) and I love to inject humor into everything - especially my borring accounting job.

I don't have a scale so I have no idea what I weigh. I always end-up at the doctor's without my glasses and can't read the scale. I'll have to get my sister's scale. I just want to NEED to buy new clothes for my trip because mine are too big.

Nah...we didn't think you were dead. Now we know better...you are just "otherwise occupied..."
I knew coming out of the closet would lead to accusations and insinuations that just might be totally accurate!!:rotfl2:
Dawn- take care of him, you know how we all love him and how much he deserves a loving, beautiful woman. You are his bliss. :lovestrucIf I am not his bliss..I may be the bane of his existance...Exspecially if we win this week and we need to take those pics in tight shorts and t-shirts...I should make him wear mine!!!:rotfl: So then we are in the same outfit!!

Hi Gang....

OK - today has been interesting to say the least.... having a front row seat to a political scandal has been almost surreal. I work at the NY Capitol and that place is just abuz right now thanks to the extra curricular activities of our Governor....
What happened..did he take up golfing...water polo...cribbage...or was it the ever popular new wave form of excersize those kids these days try....jumingjacksexwithprostitutewhilelyingtoyourwifeandstateyouhypocriticalass...:yay:
- I got word of an interesting twist on the job front that could get me what I want without having to uproot my life. It is too soon to say where that is heading, but it is very promising to say the least...Ohhh...do you have a grumpy too???

- the best news was that I had my JC appointment and lost 5.5 pounds this week. I still can't freak'n believe it.... I don't know what I did last week because I didn't exercise any more (in fact, it was a little less than usual) and I had a few splurges along the way, but the diet gods must have been smiling on me or something....
Holy guacomole cr@pman! Did you pay her a lil sumpin sumpin on the side...
I am really proud of you and I bet you will be in our top 5 LOSERS THIS WEEK WHEN WE WIN THE CHALLENGE!!!

Anyways

Sarah - thanks for the postcard from DL... it is now hanging proudly on my fridge to keep me moving foreward....Me too...I love that postcard...I love the kids are surprised their mom has friends!!:lmao:

Goof

PS - I am off to look for my construction goofy... That will be a cute picture of me and him in our hardhats (although, I think I look like a bobblehead when I wear my hardhat...)
Bobbleheads are hot...most men would agree..just ask your ex-govenor!!!:lmao: Ok...I am slaphappy...
Add that to the huge numbers Kat is posting...and...The PEEPS ARE GOING DOWN in FLAMES this week! :cool1:
You sound a lil like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast!! Watch out for you Peeps!!

I have gained wayyyyyy more than I could ever lose on this thread....I love Dawn. She IS my Dream.
Oh my ...I am so blessed..simply and completely.

Thanks to everyone wishing us well.....I love all of you :grouphug:
Ditto to the 10th degree...
Dont feel too bad. The doctors tell me I should weigh 198 pounds. At 6'6" I just stared at him  ...He must have gotten the point because he called security on me ::cop: :lmao:

So that is where you got the cuffs...hmm....:scratchin

I was athletic in high school and didn't weigh 198 !?!?!? Is that why you wear a jockstrap to cook???:3dglasses

I weighed in at 265 and thought I looked good. I had dates so I must not have been the worst looking person in the world. What do you exactly mean by dates....ya better be talkin bout Fig Newtons or prepare to duck...:duck: Or I'll do the Voodoo on your hoohoo:stir:

Granted I have gotten older and added more fat and less muscle but still !!!!
You told me that you were 29...:sad2:

I am with you Munky....these charts and doctors are made by those skinny biotches and they have an agenda to take us full figured gals...errr uh men down :lmao: :rotfl2: If I find you in my tinkerbell nightie it's over....:tinker:

Anyway keep the faith. If you would be happy at 150 then 150 it is !!!!:flower3:

I agree. I'm 5'4'' and 125 or 120 should be great for me if I am toned. It all does depend on the body fat and lean muscle. That is my goal..but that is a loooong way from 254....
The size charts that really get me are the ones for stockings. I go up another size or two, so the crotch isn't at knee or mid thigh. Lets tone up gams, body scrub, body butter and skip the stockings. Let your legs glow and show off your hard work. I'm talking from the knee down, I'm not that brave yet. Shop for capris. Oh and please shave I can't agree more...go neked ladies...show the calves your God gave you...not the nylon ones that rip after spendin $8 and throwing yourself on the floor crying after snagging it on the cuffs your man left on the bed...oops..I knew I went :rolleyes1 too far...:rotfl: .

I was a 20, at the start. Hit an 18 about 20lbs down. I weigh in tomorrow, and I think I did well this week, just from how these size 16 pants feel. I had the cutest outfit on today! For the first time in along time, my clothes felt cute!

I also went over to my friend's house, the jealous one, and tried on her dresses, because my size 16 dresses are too big and I need something to take to FL. Her 14's fit me. That was pretty cool. You rock and your ticker shows it...I am soooo proud of your success!

It's on at 6 o'clock here I think. I'll be watchin'.
What did ya think....

Thanks again everyone for all the support in soo many areas of my life...I am very grateful and very amazed at all of you....

Grats on the loss!

Thank you!

I hear ya...I was all mopey and crabby like that a few days ago. Just in a massive funk. TWO things to keep in mind...

1. You are going to be in DISNEY in a week! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

2. 1.6 is a GREAT loss! Remember that there are MANY of us who would kill for a loss like that! :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

See...two reasons for you to be dead to me...good thing I love you!

I should count my blessings, huh? Damn! ;)

Sorry for my lack of posts this week... it has been crazy. Looks like we are about to get a new Governor so now I am chasing down contractors to make arrangements to have job signs changed...

Anyways - I am traveling the next four days, so I will be checking in at night to see how you are all doing...

Talk to you all soon,
Paula

Good luck, Paula! I'm thinking of you with this crazy mess at the capitol.

Thought you might like to see who caused the drama this weekend and the newest soap opera journal update!!! Be kind...

OMG, how cute are you two!!! Adorable!

Thanks Again,
Julie

Hi Julie! Welcome!

Welcome to the nuthouse! There's lots of fun, drama, encouragement, competiton...your above average thread.

SeptGirl branded the GS cookies Satan's minons. (or something like that). A
few of us have suffered over them too.

Yes, they are Satan's minions! My best friend (not Ms Green) brought over more...I seriously think the Girl Scouts should just take my money and keep the cookies. If they are in the house, they just keep trying to jump into your mouth! And then they move right into your thighs. It's so wrong. :rotfl:

I see some of you are doing WW and I decided to join. My first meeting is Thursday morning at 9 a.m. I am a little nervous because I joined 2 years ago and lost 30 pounds, but ofcouse I gained it back. :headache: I think I can really do it this time and keep it off, my mind and heart seems to be working together this time. Any good advice out there.

Good luck with WW, Jodi! You can do it!

:rotfl2:

Oh, I'm so sorry about your foot! Give the kids and husband all the food you don't want to attack you in a weak moment and call it "buffet night". Now you know what kind of parent I am, huh? :lmao:

I had an awful day with law firms. I'm really struggling. In such a haze. I am terrified though strong at the same time. I think it is survival mode. I pray my kids stay safe and that I'll work again somewhere. May not be a school.

OMG, this was hilarious. Hi, I'm Liz, and I covet Samoas. Turn away from the dark side! Come to the light! (Get it? Light=less weight...) I'm so sorry about the baddie lawyers! You ARE strong; you will get through it!

OMG, how cute are you two!!! Adorable! We are cute aren't we...I do not look at my weight when I am with him..I feel happy and feel sexy and feel cute...now we just need to do this life change for us because we deserve a better day and life together..

Seriously thank you....at our worst times...Chad would call me a fat cow and say I disgusted him....(I usually called him stupid so I was not perfect) but those words totally are heard in my head at times...I wear this fat suit as a protector...but the truth is it is a smothering blanket....

Okay, I know I just posted, but I want to show you all my new haircut!

I went in last week with Emily to get her hair cut, and my hairdresser, who I love and adore, told me I needed a new cut for my thinner face. So here it is!
