In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is staying warm - the temperatures are dropping here again!

I'm curious - has anyone been giving any thought to New Year's Resolutions? I'm not typically a big resolution maker. I tend to think that quite often we set ourselves up for certain failure by setting unrealistic expectations. But, it always seems that this time of year I get so reflective...thinking about the good things that have happened this year, and the not-so-good, and just what I want to do about that.

Awesome job on the water! :thumbsup2

Hmm, New Years Resolutions. Generally I don't make them, for the exact reason you said - It always seems to set me up for failure!
This year though I WILL make one and that is to get healthier and to start running when the Sciatica is under control. Baby steps!

I am SO ready to get back on track! Im just waiting for the new exercise dvds to come, and im hoping i'll see a huge improvement in my back/leg pain.
Ive got a smaller plate to help with portion control and ive got a recipe book just bursting at the seams with WW, Slimming World, Calorie Controlled recipes - you name it, Ive found them!

Over the next few days we will be winding down with the parties/social events and the New Me starts on Monday! However, over the next few days I wont be using 'Starting Monday' as an excuse to stuff my face with everything in sight, Ive fell for that one before! :rotfl: No, I just mean that while I won't deny myself the nice food and drinks on offer, I will watch what I eat rather than being silly!

I am ready! New Year New Kelly!

Hope everyone is having a great day :upsidedow

Not sure as to resolutions. I do want to be healthier in 2010 than I was in 2009.

Traning... yeah. Starting Dec 15th didn't work so well.

So, PA has no sales tax on clothes, right? I am generally not that much of a shopper, but I am super cheap and LOVE this one western PA store chain that has most name brands 80-90% off, soo between three different stores, I got:
For me, 2 pairs jeans, 2 pairs dress pants, 2 turtleneck sweaters, 2 short-sleeved dressy shirts, 1 3/4 length black dressy shirt, 3 pairs pantyhose, 1super-heavy-duty Champion sports bra w/ underwire, 2 shaper camisoles (LOVE them), 3 pairs athletic socks, 2 pairs sunglasses. Most of the clothes were Ann Taylor Loft, NY&Co, etc.
For FIL, a nice green pullover sweater and 5 pairs dress socks.
For D, 2 Oleg Cassini dress shirts.
For niece#1 (6), a dress, a pair of pjs, and a pink zippered sweatshirt with a butterfly.
For niece#2 (11), 2 pairs of pjs and 5 pairs of crazy socks.

Total bill for all of this... approx. $130. :)

I also got niece#1 a bead-type jewelry making set, and a little art book with poufy flowery type stickers to put in it, and niece #2 a toiletry bag and a bath&body works type bath set. BIL/SIL got a blu-ray player. Hopefully they are all happy with it... I don't usually have a clue for kids and I got little help from their parents.

We will celebrate the holiday with them on NY Day.

I'm operating with that very same philosophy right now. Still working out too, so that helps - at least a little bit.

Pretty much along the lines of what I'm thinking as well. For me I mean, not you  Which reminds me of something I find extremely amusing. Last year my boss (she's going to be 70 this year...) didn't make any resolutions for herself. She did, however, tell all her friends the resolutions that she was making for THEM. :lmao: It was hilarious.

Total bill for all of this... approx. $130. :)

total shopping Goddess :worship:

Argh... having a totally badass day where nothing is going right. Ugh... Ate about 1/4 pound of M&M's - double ugh...

Kat - loved the shopping story. I need a store like that around here.

Nancy - thinking about a resolution, but not sure yet. It is definitely a reflective time of year though.

OK - back to the salt mines... it is going to be a long night and I need to get a good walk in - if only for the mental clarity that comes with working out.

Nancy - thanks for checking in with me. You know your day is going down the wrong road when it starts with a visit to your office by two state police officers. Oh well - got them taken care of and am still on the free side of a jail cell so it is a success. On the plus side, the tower crane is growing.

I am over the m&m's. Off to go work off the calories now.

Hope you are all having a good night.

Sounds like you got past the M&Ms, Paula! Good! I still have a couple of more events to get through before I can purge myself and my house. Gosh, we still have a lot of rich food around here!

Nancy--your day started ON, how did it end?

New Year's Resolutions...well, I make them, sort of. I don't call them New Year's Resolutions, instead I just call them Plans and Goals for the coming year. Because they are often long-term things, right? And the idea of a Goal seems so much more empowering and positive as opposed to resolving (resigning!) to do something. Semantics, maybe, but it works for me. Also, I truly give myself the whole year to do it. There have been times when I have started on one of my goals till October. But that's ok. The way I set it up, I am not setting myself up for failure.

But yes, this year I will have some as well. Still solidifying them, but I will post once there. Looks like I will focus on three areas.

Riley gets home in a few hours. He's been gone for 4 days. Longest he's ever been away (he's 10 for those who don't know). Good practice for the upcoming summer when he will do sleep-away camp. He has gone the past two years, but only for 3-4 nights. This year he will do two one-week sessions. He has checked in every day and is having SO much fun. Can't wait to squeeze him, though.

40 min walk - done!

Have to ask - what are everyone's new year's plans?

I am working than heading to a friend's house for a small gathering where I hope I can stay awake until midnight. It should be fun.

E - glad Riley is having fun, but I'm sure he is looking forward to a hug from his mom.

Catch you all in the morning - I am up at 5 am tomorrow - j
ugh

Riley's home and he had an amazing time. I laughed hysterically when he came in the door. It was like something out of a sitcom! He was wearing this oversized hooded sweatshirt with the "I heart New York" logo on it, was wearing an FDNY baseball hat (my sister works for FDNY), was carrying a bag with the Empire State Building on it...SO funny! It was like NYC tourism threw up on him!

NYE plans--out to dinner and a concert with Jeff in Boston and we will stay overnight in a hotel just the two of us. We always get together with friends...it has been a standing tradition for 10 years, but this year they had to travel to GA, so we made alternate plans.

Have to ask - what are everyone's new year's plans?

we are having a housefull again. A bunch of our adult friends, but also lots of teens. We have my family Christmas celebration on Friday, so I've made sure that the kids know that by 1:00 am they are all outta here.

headed to bed too. Have an early-ish appointment with Erin tomorrow. After all I've indulged in this past week it should be a real fun time.:headache:

Dinner out, then to a hockey game with some friends and will probably hit the party at the arena afterwards. If we make it there until midnight, they do a champagne toast and fireworks. We can't stay up too late nor drink too much, as we leave for Goldsboro and D's family celebration around 10AM.

Christmas shopping is done, all presents are wrapped and ready to go. :)

Transformation complete. Riley just announced that he plans to go to NYU for college! :lmao:

My kids decided that we are having a party. Hats, confetti, and a cheese ball too. Yeah they are weird, lol. Love that Riley is the. NYC spokes boy!

I'm here but not. Had to term today. I hate that part of my job, can't help develop somebody if they are unwilling.

OK just one more thing since editing is nearly impossible on my phone. I've been playing tsm after the kids go to bed and I love it. Some boards are tough but so much fun. My right thumb is killing me. Yes that is my trigger finger.

Good morning everyone

E - glad to hear Riley had a great time! He has been converted..

Nancy - good luck with Erin today.

Kat - keeping my fingers crossed that you get TSM for Christmas. Have fun at Christmas part 2.

EE - watch that thumb... You can't crush your kids scores if you are injured lol

Off to work and hope to check in later, but have a safe and happy new yeareveryone!!!!
