In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Newphew, 6, got a Nintendo DSi. DGF was sitting next to him on the couch and said, "let's all say goodbye to Jake" He was entranced. Dear niece got my old laptop. The hard drive blew in the spring and I threw a fit a got a new one. I am embarrassed to say that a $70 hard drive and a few hours later it was as good as new. She was also entranced once we got it hooked up to my parent's DSL line.

I don't want to get an indulger reputation. Next year, all socks.

Isn't it great to spoil them? Yes I say. :lovestruc

Good Morning... Time to wake up and get rid of the post holiday haze....

I ate way too much over the holidays and am not looking forward to going to JC tonight, but the food fest is over with and it is a new week people. OK so I am working crazy hours this week (in by 5:30AM won't leave until around 6:00PM kind of crazy) so I spent some time last night packing my food for the day. I packed breakfast, lunch, lots of healthy snacks and such to get me through this long badass day and what do I realize when I get to work this morning. I left the darn thing home!!!! It is sitting on my steps in the front hall. I remembered to take it out of the fridge, but when I was putting my coat on, I grabbed my bag and walked out without my lunch. Ugh... Now I have to rely on a few things stashed in my desk and the cafeteria food. So not good...

Erika - that story from the gym is too funny. At least when I work out, Jesse doesn't leave me and we both have fun at the newbie's expense. Yup, I am evil sometimes. Cute pics of Kelly too. Love it when you can surprise people like that.

OK - off to see if my crane is here.

Morning!

Paula, are you working such badass hours because you are the PM on this project? Will it be like this indefinitely?

It's a girls' day here! Cam, Kel and I are going to see the new Disney Princess movie since Riley is out of town. Jeff is at work today, but this is the only day he will work out of the 12-day break. Just had a meeting he couldn't miss. So since it is just the three of us today, we are going to do girly stuff! First, of course, we run. Just 3 miles since it will be with the girls. Then pedicures, then the movie.

Have a great Monday!

Happy Monday Laides,
I glad everyone had a Wonderful Christmas.

Erika, Wow, thats a lot of gifts. I thought I had a ton for my kids, but now I'm not so sure.

Love the gym story.. Before Kids, when I was in shape, I went to an all girl gym and when the end of the year came OMG. So one year, I went to my DH's gym, it was a bodybuilding gym, to avoide the newbes.
Boy, I did not ever think I would be a newbe myself, however, I only work out in my basement..

Ok, Yes I eat like a PIG this weekend, so today I did 2 miles, walk/run day 4 of the C25K. Also DH got me Wii Fit Plus, I did it alittle yesterday, but how do you get a good workout in?

Also, Erika, I can't wait til my girls are older to go do nails and a movie with them, I tried the movie with my 5year old and it did not work out well

Have a Disney Day Everyone!!

Tree is down. *sigh* I put it up a month ago, so we have had plenty of time with it and I want my house back, so down it came. I'll keep the rest of the decorations up for another week.

The crazy work schedule is a bit of both. As PM, I have a ton more work to do and then the crane schedule is four twelve hour days this week so I have to be here for most of that. Sure beats last winter's months of having nothing to do.

Enjoy your girl's day...

BTW, Paula, now that you have the iPod Touch, you should download e-ticket. It's the DIS app. Awesome. And it makes it so easy to post to the boards. Plus it has all of the other DIS features.

I was so excited to hear that eticket is in the works for the Droid. The bosses are away so I am running a contest at work. Yay!

Hi Everyone

Love the Zhu Zhu pictures - the girls look so happy with them!

Erika - Enjoy your girls day!

I have bought a new journal today for tracking food and exercise, Im ready for New Year New Me!! Ive also bought myself a smaller dinner plate, to help with portion control!

I need some advice if possible - I need some good exercises that I can do in the house when the weather is too bad to get out. As you know, I have Sciatica and lower back problems so Im looking for exercises that will be easier on my back and leg but will help me to tone up (I know, I don't ask for much!)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - Im desperate here!

I also have a target to work towards - my brother is getting married in July and Im a bridesmaid. Now my SIL to be is having the bridesmaid dresses made and because I live nearest to the seamstress Im the guinea pig - the first measuring is the end of January! :scared1: I was so not ready for that when she told me on Christmas day - originally the first measuring was going to be the end of February.
So long story short (too late for that!) is that I need to make a good dent in the 12ish lbs I have to lose. Yes, the number has gone up :sad2:

Ooh, an advert has just been on for the 2nd series of True Blood which is starting soon! :cool1:
Which reminds me - KAT - The new series of CSI:NY starts on the 9th of January! I can't wait for it, Im desperate to know who, if anyone, got shot in the bar!

Hope everyone has a great day! :upsidedow

It is definitely on the list of must buy apps. Unfortunately, there is no available wi-fi that I can pick up from my office. Hopefully, that will change when I move to the other side of the building and actually have windows.

Thanks Paula. I personally needed that. However, my Christmas eating has been totally emotional. What a shame. If you're going to indulge one should taste it and enjoy it. :sad2:

Do we have to hear about your twelve pounds? Must we? :lmao::lovestruc:lovestruc;)

Yes of course I know we must.:love:

I have this tape that is not really going to pound any pounds off but it's really something with body changing. I haven't touched it in awhile b/c I have to get in many intervals/cardio/weights to get the pounds off - but it's something and she actually has a back one Kelly. We have full body and lower body.

The series is called Classical Stretch. hmmm Miranda crap Miranda two last names. Crap. I can't place it. She's annoying as hell but it really changes the body. I look at the photos of me last March when I was doing it heavily and it's not far from this scale weight now - but looks so different. So different. Kind of deal where you look smaller than the number. It's like a ballet/pilates kind of deal.

I totally hear you on the being ready part....

The last few weeks I have been so fed up with myself for just giving up, and I said to myself I was going to make this my new year's resolution...then about a week before Christmas I thought "why wait until then?" So I made Christmas and the weekend my last hurrah, and this week am starting on strong. SLOW but strong.

See, I think part of where I messed up was I wasn't ready to make so many changes at once. I do see some changes that stuck, but most of them just got lost in the mix. So the last week, I did some research. Good veggies. Bad veggies. Good proteins, bad proteins, ETC. And I'm getting back to basics.

I thrive on structure, so I've made myself a chart, kind of a spreadsheet sort of thing, with a box for every pound I need to lose. Each time I lose a pound, I highlight in the box. So sort of a graph sort of thing. I set up a list of guidelines, if you will, of goals that are going to help me get through this spreadsheet. Some easy, some hard. Each week, I have to pick AT LEAST 2 of the goals, and one of them has to be based on exercise. I can use the goals more than once, but only up to a maximum, and after that I expect myself to keep on with them. Ex: one goal is drink 2 sports bottles of water a day, every day of the week. I let myself set this goal for five weeks. After that, it should just be a given. I set up rewards for myself at certain pounds lost (motivation), and even set up "rules" or a "system" of ways to hold myself accountable. My last reward is a right hand diamond ring....I thought it'd be a really great way to reward myself for getting rid of all the weight, and a great reminder daily about my journey, so I can keep myself going afterwards. To pay for it................I set up.....(this is so geeky I almost want to slap myself) an excuse jar! (because with so much to lose I know I'll probably have quite a few of them!) I set parameters up about when to put money in the excuse jar, but basically, when I don't complete a goal and it's something that was totally in my control, a certain amount of money goes in the jar. Each day I am supposed to exercise for the week but don't also gets a certain amount of money. It's a way to allow myself for slipups, but still remind myself I have to keep going and get up after them.

For exercise, I am starting off slow. Like I said. Basics. Teaching myself how to live this new lifestyle that honestly, is entirely foreign to me. For now, it's just one day a week. 30 minutes. After two weeks, then it's 2 times a week, and after so many weeks of that then it's 3 times a week....and so on. I've made it so I can pick each week (except for the first two) how many days I'll be doing for the week, so I can really commit to something I think I can accomplish. So if I know I have a super busy week coming up and won't be able to get it in, I can still commit to something and be able to accomplish it.....I really think this will give me the time to adjust to the IDEA that I have to work exercise into my lifestyle, and adding a day at a time doesn't seem nearly as daunting as suddenly doing it most days of the week.

I just know that lately, I've been SO ready for this me to GO! I want to change, and I am realizing that the only way that happens is when I take charge and make things work for ME, and if that means going slow until I can become accustomed to these new ideas, then so be it. It's better than sitting here feeling sorry for myself.

On that note (gosh that was long, I'm sorry:scared1:) I'd really love any input from anyone on anything else I can include into this. I'm sure there are ways I can make it better, so please let me know if you can see anything.....

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is having a good Monday.

Yes of course I know we must.:love:

You don't have to hear about my twelve pounds - I just weighed myself and its actually 16lbs! :rotfl: That is 1 stone 2lbs! :scared1:

Here it is Kelly but I'm not finding any of the old DVDs on there. I bet you can find them.

I know she has one for back issues. I'll try to find it.

http://www.classicalstretch.com/videos.htm

http://www.amazon.ca/s?ie=UTF8&search-alias=dvd&field-keywords=Miranda Esmonde-White

The old ones. People talk about all her workouts being sensitive to back issues.

Lisa you are a superstar! :lovestruc
Im going to check out the links and see if I can get one ordered!
Thank you!

Look at you being so cheeky with your 16! :lmao:Look at you spouting all the stones at us. :rotfl::lovestruc

You know I still don't get it - every time we see a picture of you you look so flippin' fantastic and then you mumble about your lower half and I still don't see it. :lovestruc

Well don't thank me yet. It verges on bizarre in its own way but it does change the body. And don't forget if she annoys the crap out of you I warned you - she is the reason they created volume control.

Sciatica must be so frustrating Kelly.

Ah Lisa you are very kind, but trust me its there! Lurking on the bottom half! :rotfl:

That dvd was out of stock on the UK site, but it did recommend Pilates for Lower Back Pain and also Pilates for Dummies :lmao: - I ordered both!
I have requested an email for when the other one comes back into stock, but these two dvds should keep me going until it does!

Hi Cathie :goodvibes.

I always think - can I do this for life? Always. Any choice I make. It's a slow way to lose weight but well it's a way.

I've said this to you before - and it's not a putdown Cathie - I really feel that it will be easier if you team up all your changes with working on some emotions. I'm not pulling this out of thin air. I've read your posts and I know you've got a lot inside you. I'm only typing this because you asked for our thoughts. And this road - not without its bumps for me like right now :3dglasses - has been a heck of a lot easier since I've worked through a few issues.

Also I believe success in weight loss is knowing when to be harder on yourself and knowing when you need to be more forgiving/loving to yourself. Both are needed. In balance. I struggle with that.

Good for you for recognizing that you love structure and do best with it.
