In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

OMG. So emotional watching BL!

I know, eh? Danny man. Such a sweetheart. And since he got his makeover (:lmao:it just seemed to pop out on that week) - I don't know - I think Danny is gay and doesn't know it. Or knows it and won't be who he is. I know. I know. None of my beeswax but I truly think he is.

Just so you all know. I will still shop at Macy's, lol. I just won't like it. Ahh, let's be honest, I'll like it. I WILL kick the wall when I walk in though.

LisaV - No pasting, just

Liz - Hi :flower3:

Lyz - Im mad at Macys for you too!

Today is blah. I nearly fell over in the street infront of everyone and I hurt my hand stopping myself.

That is all I have to contribute today :sad1:

Ah sorry Kelly. You really do have something, eh?

Lisa,.

Lyz, <insert bad word here> Macy's.

I tried to post last night and hit submit and got board maintenance.

Anyway, to answer Nancy's question, we ran internet (cat5e/ethernet) wires from the attic into the master bedroom, study, and loft upstairs, and then down the wall and through the floor into the family room downstairs. We also ran coaxial cable (for the cable) into the master bedroom, and one speaker wire from the family room in-ceiling speaker into the opposite wall (because that wire was stolen by a contractor before they sheet rocked). Then, also had to patch the wall in a few places and install a ceiling-mounted smoke detector to hide the holes that we had to cut in order to do these things, and of course install all of the corresponding wall plates, put everything back together, clean, etc.

While my dad was here and we had extra tools and an extra pair of hands, we also took off the front door and replaced the door shoe/weather stripping.

All in all, about 20 hours of work over two days. I am tired and sore, and actually glad to be back at work where I can rest!!

Oh, and the results of MIL's scans came back... luckily no cancer. Mild emphysema, but treatable. So good news there!

Good news Kat. Will she need a tank? Not at this point?

And as for the wiring. Holy skilled. Geez.

Sorry for the long vent, but Nov has been hard on me...trying to get into the Christmas spirit. We're goign to the parade of lights that they do in Denver every year on Saturday...hoping that will bring the spirit back for me a little bit.

Hope everyone's doing great and having a great morning.

.Distractions are always good Cathie. I need to learn that myself.

Nancy - I totally agree with you in what you said about Paula. Totally. Why can't it just be simple - because I can and because I want to - regarding losing. Totaly agree.

Sorry Paula - I'm talking about you like you're not here. :confused3

But I do think that anyone who had a lot of weight on - some just gain some because of habits but not when it's lifelong and/or a lot. - needs to look at why it came on. Because in truth it is an addiction at that point just like drugs, alcohol etc. Since looking at my past the weight loss is just easier - not easy NOPE - just easier. In fact the first forty or so came off with no thought - it was just a byproduct of my work.

I was thinking about Oprah the other day. She out and out said she has never seen a therapist. And I understand for her the show and good friends have provided that release. However, I couldn't help but think that maybe there is some thought process from her sexual abuse swinging it back and forth still. Maybe. Even her trainer (Bob) will not take clients on unless they know why they got there.

But as for why off - Why can't it just be simple - it's time.

Thanks Paula for opening up with us. See how it helps everyone.

I so got to get off the disboards now.

Good news Kat!

Now the wiring - I actually understood all of that. Tons of work you did! But internet cables? You're not wireless?

We have wireless as well, yes. However, wireless cannot always keep up, for gaming or for HD streaming.

Some of the dropping of wires was because we already had to do the hard parts for other reasons. The missing speaker wire has been a to-do since we moved into the house... we wired the 4 back speakers before they put in the sheet rock, and that one was missing when we went to wire in the speakers.

The coax wire into the master bedroom was also not optional as the existing outlet is in the exact wrong place for the current jack.

So, we figured that we might as well run as much internet (ethernet, or Cat5e) wire as we could without causing more work, if that makes sense. It's better to have jacks you can't use, than to want jacks you don't have. Plus, I got 800 feet of it free from a guy at work.

The hard part about that was getting the speaker wire from the ceiling, across 3 feet and then down 15 feet to and into the wall (you couldn't go diagonal due to a joist in the way). We used a guide wire, wire-fisher, and some strategically places holes -- one patched in the wall, one in the ceiling that is now a smoke detector, and one that was a can light that we could remove.

Once you run one wire, running 2 more is really not a big deal. Getting the internet wire from floor to floor was actually one of the easier parts, as we had an existing wire running from a hole the attic into the wall directly above the speaker we were trying to attach. Open the wall, pop a hole in the ceiling, pull it through, then speaker wire and two internet wires to the guide wire, and pull all three together to the plate in the opposite wall.

Master bedroom and the other two rooms were easy as all walls involved were adjacent to the plywood boards that they call our attic, and everything up there is open.

Okay, that is WAY more detail than you wanted!!!

She hasn't had an appointment that I could go to. She hasn't seen the doctor. I found out about the second mammogram at the last minute. This next appointment - I told him to go for sure and ask questions. I should go. You're right. I was discussing the logistics about going since I've found out the date. My mother is very "dignified" - unsure of the word. I was doubtful that she would let anyone iin the room. But on a positive note the Alzheimer's/head issues/whatever she has loosens her up in some ways and makes her extra feisty in others.

Yes, it will be time soon. (nancy I'm just talking outloud here) We got a Power of Attorney for Mama (Jean's mom). But my mom is really quite lucid at this point - I make her sound more off than she is. So I can only monitor her from afar. She wouldn't sign off on anything. NEVER. NEVER. Even if I sat her down and explained.

Lisa, I so understand this. We are struggling with so many of these issues right now, too. It's somewhat easier for me as it is only my family by proxy... I know it must be really, really hard.

Good news Kat. Will she need a tank? Not at this point?

And as for the wiring. Holy skilled. Geez.

No, I think they can treat it through drugs right now. FIL has it as well... the effects of long term smoking, I guess.

Wiring = not skilled. More like manual labor, a lot of googling, an engineer father, and some dumb luck. :)

Oh, and the results of MIL's scans came back... luckily no cancer. Mild emphysema, but treatable. So good news there!

That IS good news! The wiring sounds horrific. Bet you're glad it's done.

We have an ongoing case of Zhu Zhu/Go Go Hamster-gate at work! One of the girls I work with decided yesterday that her two boys would like one each as a toy!

I was like 'Erm, do you realise that Lyz and Erika had to have theirs shipped from Canada, and Erika is helping Grandma Meredith against ZhuZhu thugs?'

She said 'No Kelly, I didn't realise that. Are these people in your head? Do you need to sit down and have a cup of tea?'! :lmao:

So, there are 3 of us in the office today and we are trawling every shop and website we can find to get them. Amazon and Ebay have them for £50 EACH!!! Thats 5 times the retail price! Crazy hamsters!

HiLarIous!!!!!

Funny how people just decide, "I'll have a Zhu Zhu".

but it would seem that somehow my middle toe stabbed my pointer toe and made it bleed. Haven't had *that* happen in a while.

Ohh, that smarts!

My mother is very "dignified" - unsure of the word. I was doubtful that she would let anyone iin the room.

Lisa, thanks for typing all that out to me for clarification. I appreciate it. And I can understand you're mom being private. I don't know how I'll ever get a mammogram, much less have someone in the room with me!

Oh no! Chunk and Jean-Claude have been separated! I didn't even think about that until you posted it! :lmao: The wrapping story is too funny! LOVE IT. And yes, Liz, there will be photos!

Kat--that sounds like what goes on at our house. The only difference is that I don't have to help! :thumbsup2 As an electrical engineer, this is all second nature to Jeff. (And he put himself through college as an electrician and still maintains his license.) So there are *always* wires being fished through walls around here. Because, God forbid, anyone see an actual wire. You know, like what would the neighbors think if they actually knew we used electricity?!!? :rotfl2::lmao:

Seriously though, last time he was away, I had to reconfigure a bunch of the computer stuff and move things into different rooms. And of course, I just plugged crap in the old fashioned way. So there is this MASSIVE snarl of wires in one room and Jeff just cringes about it all the time. But he hasn't had time to fix it all yet. I just laugh.

Nancy
--ouch on the toe! I haven't had a toe issue in ages. But shins...oy. Back to sore (just the one that had the stress fracture). But I am only running every-other day and cross training the rest. And ice, ice baby.

Kelly--HI LAR IOUS that we are the voices in your head! Love that story. And good luck on the zhu zhu hunt. I will have chapter 3 tomorrow! I am planning an early morning trip.

Nancy, I think I missed the toe thing? Did you lose a toenail??

I stepped on my 2nd toenail in about a month ago, one 3" heel from one foot stepping on the other foot (yes, I can give Kelly a run for her money sometimes), and it is now black/gone... so it sure doesn't take much to lose one.

Lyz, once this Zhu Zhu mess has died down, I want one in a ball to tease the heck out of my cats. :)

God, I am so with Jeff on this one!! There is not much that bothers me... I can walk right by a mounding basket of laundry to be folded, clothes on the floor, etc. But a mess of wires!!! I HATE exposed wires.

totally agree. And, yes, thanks Paula! :goodvibes

Makes perfect sense. Our house is totally wired too. Cable, phone & Internet in every room. Bathrooms included. (not that they are all necessarily *active* - many have blank plates over them). But when we built the house, Stephen made sure that we would have everything anywhere we might possibly ever want it.

Funny how people just decide, "I'll have a Zhu Zhu".

I know right? As if they think they'll just stroll on down to the corner store and pick one up next time they buy milk. Silly people. Don't they understand it takes a multi-national effort to secure these little gems? :confused3

Because, God forbid, anyone see an actual wire. You know, like what would the neighbors think if they actually knew we used electricity?!!? :rotfl2::lmao:

Them there show-offs. They've gone and gots themselves that fancy, new-fangled elek-trisity stuff. Next thing you know they'll be gittin' an indoor toilet too!:lmao:

Kat - no, not a lost toenail. One toe apparently didn't play well with the others today while I was running, and I ended up with a puncture wound that bled like a mother! It's fine now. I'll just probably end up with a band aid for a few days, just in case.

Lyz, once this Zhu Zhu mess has died down, I want one in a ball to tease the heck out of my cats. :)

Oh - that would be awesome. Give my cats a little bit 'o catnip and they'll go nuts! hmmm...I may have to put one on my wish list. ;)

Chunk is now in Parrysburg, OH. :lmao: He made it over the border and I think he's been released from his customs interview. And he weighs .7 kilograms - since this is a weight thread. :rotfl:

Let me go check on Jean Claude. :surfweb:

Oh no. Jean Claude is still in Canada! He's in Mississauga. And he weighs 4.1 kg. :confused3/ Whoops. No, sorry he is 1.9 kg/4.1 pounds. Whew. Jean Claude -what have you done? :lmao: Did you eat some poutine? Why is he delayed a bit? Do you think he was mouthy? :rotfl:

You know what is really mentally ill - I didn't cover his hole by his nose - you know the hole that I pressed a thousand times. It looks like I gave him a breathing hole when you get through the big box - then the peanut thingys - then the white paper - there it is his breathing hole. :lmao:

And I tell you I print relatively well and have Kennebunk very clearly and the little Fed Ex typist/computer thingy has typed in Knneburk. :confused3

Oh wait - let's see - he's actually showing his departure from Mississauga. Yeah Jean Claude. He must be nearing the border as we speak.

And both show arrival on FRIDAY!!!!!

This thread is officially out of control. :lmao:

UPDATE!!!! HE'S NOW IN BUFFALO!!! POOR THING!:lmao: IT'S OKAY JEAN CLAUDE IT'S ONLY OVERNIGHT. New England is a mere day away. Buffalo will be a distant memory. :sad2: ;) :lmao:

It seems like he's been released from customs as well.

Yeah! Both are now on American soil.

And by the way there is no way in he!! that I was going to put the word Zhu Zhu on any of my many forms. They both are listed as "small electronic toys". :rotfl: I was afraid if I put Zhu Zhu toy anywhere they might magically disappear.

I LOVE the Chuck and Jean Claude updates! Reading them aloud to Nick. Because insanity is best shared. :rotfl:

Lisa!! :lmao: :lmao:

I feel exactly the same way about Buffalo. Poor Jean-Claude. The breathing hole is not helping him now! ;)
