Thanks guys!!!
Sorry, I took a whole day off the computer yesterday. Basically anchored down the couch and watched tv. I am catching up on two shows, Bones and Numb3rs, through the joy of Netflix and DVR.
Amy, love the pictures. You are looking SO thin!!
Liz, I would come run with you, but I am not too much better off!
Paula, WOOO! on the size. You will be in the 1s before you know it! Btw, I still am just amazed at your progress. The last group of photos you showed us was just phenomal.
E, enjoy the camp!!
LisaV, sorry about the hockey. I did watch most of the game the other night, but the excitement level just isn't the same somehow.
Ronda, that party sounds like a blast!!
Okay, the race:
Yeah, it was definitely early!!! I left my house at about 6:15AM, stopped by work to get my mp3 player, and got to the arena parking lot at about 6:40. The parking lot (which is for the 18K seating capacity arena) was at least 2/3 full by then, maybe more.
The race turned out to not really be a race. I had never done this with my hockey org before, and evidently this is a walk with your team event for them.
However, I can totally see why as it would have been neigh on impossible to run. Something like 23,000 people walked/ran the event, and they break it into the competitive at 7AM, the womens only at 7:45AM, and the open at 9AM. We did the women's only, which probably had at least 3 times the amount of people as the one in NJ. From what I could tell for the open, it probably took 20 min to get to the start of the race from the back of the line!!
I think we walked it in a bit under an hour. It was already 80 degrees at 8AM, and very humid. Also, the course winds through some of the older neighorhoods in downtown Raleigh, and is far from flat. It was nice to see a lot of the folks that live there out on their front lawns cheering, and a few of the local bands and choirs were singing us along.
Oh, and I wore Liz's shirt.
