In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Paula? Volunteering to file? :faint:

I know.... I have some great tunes playing on the ipod right now and am actually enjoying it right now... wait - I think it is going to snow in the Carribean or something... hell must be freezing over at this point... :rotfl:

I get that mindless boredom eating. I hate that. And sometimes a shake-up of your routine can be a good thing. Just need to develop a strategy on how to deal with it. (see that would be where I fall short. Failing to adequately plan for these things):headache:

Now I'm just putting off doing some non-fun chores. :rolleyes1 bah. back to work for me.

Lyz - hope the audit is going well!

I haven't quite worked out my plan for the weekends yet or my long bike rides. This weekend is an Odyssey of the Mind board meeting, so I will bring my laptop and a workout DVD or two and get in a workout on Saturday and use Sunday as my rest day. I am hoping to get a session in with Jesse on Friday before I leave. Next weekend is the more interesting one since it is the annual reunion weekend with the gang from college. Not much of an opportunity there to get a real workout it, but I am hoping for a good hike on Saturday and a workout when I get home on Sunday. We'll see though. I considered bringing my bike with me to get a ride in, but I don't know the routes and my friends are more mountain bikers than road. Eh - I'll worry about that next week...

OK - back to filing... whee...

Kat - Well done on the race - 74* in the morning? We are lucky if our combined temperatures over three days add up to 74* :rotfl:

This time of year, it is usually somewhere above 90 during the day. Although this week we get two days of the upper 70s/low 80s before it's 96 on Saturday. Lows are in the upper 60s/low 70s usually, and it is generally pretty humid. I imagine Amy's area isn't much different except maybe 5-10 degrees warmer esp at night.

Totally understand mindless boredom eating.

It was 84 degrees here this morning when DH left for work at 7AM!!! It doesn't cool off at night much here at all, and while the temperature rarely goes above 95 during the day since we are close to the coast, but it is so freaking humid. Like 100% humidity sometimes.

Since we are all commenting in weather, the HIGH today was 58*. IT IS MID-JUNE! Supposed to be warm and sunny beginning tomorrow and going for several days.

My 3-day bender is over, thankfully. And the camp is FINALLY like 97% done. Just little piddly things now. This past week-end was the final big push. And I am exhausted. We actually kept the kids out of school today so that we could stay up there and get things finished up.

Got home in time for Riley' Championship game. His team was first in the league and has won all of their play-off games. Tonight was the final game of the playoffs. And they LOST. So devastating. But on the bright side, that is over now, too!

Funny story--I usually go for a run during these games, as they last like 2.5 hours. I try to get in just 3 or 4 miles. I have a one-mile loop so that every 10 minutes, I come back around and can check on how things are going. After the first two miles, Riley's team still hadn't scored a run. So I told myself that I had to do another mile if they were still at zero. SIX MILES later, I could finally stop! :rotfl2:

LisaPR--Where are you???

Nancy--hope the project was in working order!

Paula--weigh in results?

Lyz--I totally feel your pain, as you know.

Amy/Kat--WOO HOO on the runs! Victory!

Amiee--what happened to the live TR?!?!? Hmmmm?

Sorry about the weather talk. It's been slow.

I am still working. Thankfully at home, but I am way behind on something and it just won't work. Taking a break so I don't throw my laptop out the frakkin window... :headache:

Kat - put the lap down and walk away slowly... you already replaced your car windshield, do you really want to replacea window? :rotfl:

Erika - Riley's team really needs to score more...

Weigh in results - lost 1.4 pounds and even better, lost an 1-1/2" off my hips and an 1" off of my abdomen... yes, my gut got smaller... :cool1:

Tonight's workout was a good one... squatted 135 pounds again and it felt awesome. I don't know what happened, but I am loving this working out thing. And Erika and LisaV, you will both appreciate it... I can't get the idea of doing a mini tri out of my head. Not sure what I am going to do about that yet, but the idea is there.... Happy?

E- 58??? I would be bundled in a fleece!!

Paula- WTG on the loss AND the inches! Awesome!

The "feels like temp" in Brandon,FL today, which is east of Tampa a bit was 105 FREAKING degrees. Here on the coast it was 95.

EE-I hope you aren't melting in Orlando. I think the feels like there was 100 or just over.

It's been cold and rainy here as well. We are in a craptastic weather pattern right now. Hoping it improves for next week - crossing my fingers for outdoor graduation ceremonies.

Nancy--hope the project was in working order!

:woohoo: YES! Got the report after school today -it worked PERFECTLY! Thank GOD. They had a combined 120+ hours into that project.

I took pictures - if they come out decent I'll put them on FB.

Erika - Riley's team really needs to score more...

oh - and here I was thinking I would pay the kids off to NOT score just to see how far Erika would really run! ;)

AWESOME Paula :worship: And a mini-tri? Really? :worship: You have come a long way, baby!

Ugh. The heat is bad enough, but the humidity. ICK. :scared:

Humidity is totallly gross and is what makes it so oppressive. Ugh. Right now (I just checked our thermometer outside), it is 82 degrees and 60% humidity. Yuck.

PAULA! You are so out of control! LOVE it! Amazing job on the loss! Before we know it, you are going to get new bling yet again!

Ok, so not to freak you out or anything, but I am totally searching for the right tri for you. I have one in mind that I KNOW you can do.:cool1:

I have no doubt that you will find the perfect race for me. I just haven't decided on the time line yet. Need to get ready for the 1/2 in March and go from there. Winter is a good time for swimming though...

man - I am out of control... who has the darn flashlight...:rotfl2:

OMG, it is worse than I thought. She isn't even scared that I am picking out a race for her! :rotfl2:

Good Morning!
I have been reading for about 45 minutes to get caught up. I took a nap yesterday and am an early riser this morning.

The party went great. 80 degree weather and a pulled turkey that caused recipie envie from many. There were at least 15 people who said the food was the best that they had eaten at any grad party. To me who loves to spoil with good food - it was a great reward for the days of prep.

What I learned -
#1 - A full sheet cake is plenty.
#2 - next time only am doing turkey - most people do pulled pork so we have plenty of leftovers.

That would be about it. Truly, I am happy with how it turned out.

We went to a grad party Sat night - Nancy you will appreciate this.

Here, some people do indoors and outdoors, some only outdoors. Party tents are not uncommon, some get the meat catered, some hire garbage companies to bring in porta potties and waste containers , etc.

So there is a huge range here. Many ask all their friends to bring a pan of bars (oh yeah - that might be a #3! :lmao:)

Treyner's friend Kelsie - yeah she had a Hawiian themed shin dig. Catered. Rented 2 Maui Wowie stand (they are here at carnivals/state fair - sell smoothies) had detailed flower carved fruit scewers for everyone plus, a full pig on a open spit going - had so many people help them that they had t-shirts that said "Kelsie's Krew" etc., etc..

Her mom was comlaining that it cost them well over $15,000. That she hoped she had enough money left over for tips for the hired help.:scared1:

So I get back to my humble abode and asked Treyner how he felt about the plans for ours. He said - great since he did not have to clean up the mess that would be left at Kelsie's! ;) Typical boy!

We probably had about 100-125 people come through and most ate. I know some people said that there were just so many peoples on Saturday that they were still full. Carsyn should not have as many conflicts as Treyner so I might do hers actually before graduation - or on a Sat. It was nice though to have everyones help Sat. to set up and that may not be true if it was on a Sat.

Nancy - I am with you regarding family. :headache:

My mom did ZERO to help as usual. Brought buns but as far as set up/cleaning - nada.

My sister Laura was here on Sat., Dan's mom was a huge help with windows and the detailed last minute stuff - and other than that it was me, Dan and the kids.

Chad who only had to get 2 new garbage cans for trash/recycling and ice - called at 1 p.m. to say he would bring them at 3:30 when he came. Ummm...party starts at 2 and I have no ice and nowhere for people to put their trash.:sad2::headache:

So Treyner who should be getting ready - flies to Walmart.

On great news - Treyner's paperwork for financial aid is all done! He is enrolled - and paid for - or at least we have taken out loans for him to go!:lmao:

Baylor won his Soccer tourney this weekend!:yay:

We leave for Sioux Falls camping/Treyner soccer tourney on Friday!:cheer2:
Then we leave for Florida the day after we get back for a week to see our friends! 6 years is a long time and I am excited.

I did not gain any weight this past week - but I feel sluggish and just like crap. Walking this morning in an hour - and am going to start tracking again. Time to let go of all the mental and emotional weights of a graduate son and start caring for myself.

Nancy - I cried a lot at his party. Carsyn had a 20 minute slide show of him she put together - then asked me to write something to him at the end - each of us in his immediate family did. That and the fact all these people saying - "Won't you miss him? He will be so far away!"

Yeah - thanks for mentioning it!

Now I am starting to get excited for trips to see him and the new chapter his life will take. Best part - I am not responsible at all for it anymore! It is on him and only him. I can help/advise tec., but he is in charge of his future and how far he wants it to go or where he wants it to head. There is actually a sigh of relief in that.

Lisa V - thank you for making me smile with your TR - love the pics!

Amy - great race pics too!

Jennifer - hope you are feeling better at any level.

Paula/Kelly - congrats on the losses!

Hi to everyone else and it seems many are on overload for this summer!

OMG, it is worse than I thought. She isn't even scared that I am picking out a race for her! :rotfl2:

tell me about it... :rotfl2: I haven't told Jesse about this little epiphany yet. I am not ready to deal with his excitement yet. He is going to start bouncing off the walls when I tell him I want to do a tri. What have I gotten myself into?

Dawn - glad the weekend went well and everyone had a good time.

Good Morning everyone... time to get up....

Paula - you've left me no choice. I'm going to have to start calling you "freakshow". Lovingly of course. Freakshow none the less.

Dawn - liked the GPR (grad party report). Glad things went well and your food was awesome. 15,000 for a grad party. I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. What a waste.

EriKa - thank heavens you are marking things off your list. You were starting to spin in place. Ugh - I can't believe they lost the last game. What a bummer. Mol had her first game last Friday night and oh the angst I felt watching. So competitive. They lost, but it was horrible for me to watch, I think I was more nervous than her.

58* sounds awesome. Amy - I could not live in Florida in the summer. When we vacation there in the winter, I get so sticky I can't stand it. Summer would do me in.

Nancy - glad the project worked! How's the rebel goat?

Kat - your laptop survive the night?

I've been swinging between super busy and super lazy. Molli has decided to show one of her hogs (Steven Tyler) at the state fair. I am filling out all the required paperwork. What this means is, I've got 2 fairs in 2 weeks in 2 different cities. I'm going to lose my mind.

Lyz--tell me about it. OMG, I am the WORST when watching my kids play. Oh, the anxiety! They don't care a bit, but I have a hard time even watching. The other day Riley was at second base and I sat there the whole time muttering, "Please, no one hit it to him, please let it go somewhere else..." And my friends were all like...wth? "He knows how to play! It's not like he's going to make some huge blunder." Still, I can't stomach it.

Dawn--glad the party went well. And glad for you that it is finally over! Phew! That must be a load off.

Off to ride....

Paula - you've left me no choice. I'm going to have to start calling you "freakshow". Lovingly of course. Freakshow none the less.

I knew this day would come... I will take my new name and wear it with pride. :rotfl:

What this means is, I've got 2 fairs in 2 weeks in 2 different cities. I'm going to lose my mind.

Oh my - that sounds like a lot of fun, a lot of heat and a whole lot of fair food...

Erika - it is a beautiful day here and there is no way I am getting any riding time in outdoors... so jealous of you right now... I am going to be left to getting my miles in on a spin bike later tonight. It is a good workout, but not quite the same.

Filing is almost done and I still have two hours to get through today... :confused3 I am coming up with more excuses to get out and go for walks though. Just got back from hand carrying mail to the regional office. Got in some power walking and chatted with some folks... nice.

Hope everyone's day is going well...

Whew, just got off a marathon call with WDW.

Booked the "grand gathering" extra nights for September, and a 3-night birthday trip for D for Oct 23-26. $100 (including tax) per night at CSR for September, and $114 (including tax) per night for October. Gotta love PIN codes!!

Kat--I just got those same PIN codes today and sure it got me thinking. OMG, $89 for a mod! And $119 for AKL, which I could then pair with AKV during the weekdays...hmmmm.... Food for thought.

Speaking of food, I am ON. And it feels like the kind of ON that is going to stick, kwim? Of course we have our first big camping trip of the season in 9 days, so that is a hurdle coming up.

Exercise--a bit of tri training today and it did NOT go well. 7 mile bike followed by a 2 mile run. And my legs felt like lead! Holy smokes I have some work to do. Followed it with 100 squats. Can you say LEGS DAY?!

Seriously, though, I have to work on the settings of my bike. I was working my a$$ off and barely moving, so something is up there.
