In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Afternoon ladies.

Hope everyone is having a good week/Wednesday.

So, yesterday, I had to swallow my self hate and realize that my WW leader was right...really got to learn to trust her. I weighed myself and had already lost all the weight I thought I'd gained Monday plus some...I guess she was right and it really was just water weight. I'm focusing on making healthier choices this week for my meals, and trying to stay away from the sweets...as always....and of course, increasing my water intake always.

Today has been a topsy turvy day. I have this little wallet I take with me to school, just to hold my money for parking, maybe a bottled water and a snack, and my school ID. Usually I'll put my driver's license and bank card in with it, and thankfully last night didn't do that, as I lost the wallet! I was really upset today considering that my parking money for the week was in there, and the loss of student ID, which costs money to replace. So this morning, I called the lost and found on campus, and someone had resturned it! :goodvibes Made me feel a little better about humanity. I totally expected someone to just run with the cash and throw the rest in the trash.

Then, about, oh I don't know, 5-10 minutes ago, I got a message on facebook from this girl who's baby shower cake I was supposed to do, saying nevermind her mom went with someone else and she hopes I'm not mad. This is for a shower that would take place 3 days after I get back from WDW, so therefore, I've already spent 3 hours working on the design. Also, it was so very convenient that she said this after we started talking about pricing...seems to me she thought that because we were high school "friends" (and I use that term loosely because she has ALWAYS been a flake) that she'd get the cake for free. Very frustrating. It's not a huge deal, but it kind of unnerves me when people act like that, and it seems that they don't understand that this is not JUST a hobby for me, but an actual business. I operate as a business, meaning I don't give cakes for free, and yes, if you want extra special things it's going to cost you extra.

Ugh. Anyway. Sorry, needed to get that vent out!!!!

9 days and counting. I can hardly sit still!!!!!

Hey Kat! We are staying at Caribbean Beach for the first time - I am really excited about it. Where are you staying? Congrats on your weight loss - that is AMAZING! :goodvibes

Thanks! It doesn't feel amazing right now, as I am a lot higher than I really want to be!

Welcome!!!!
Wow, I didn't realize you were going so soon? Where are you staying? I'm going to be at all star movies....we should really try to get a little mini-meet together or something at some point!

We are leaving next Thursday. We will likely leave NC around 4AM, and check into Coronado Springs at 12:30-1PM. On Sun AM, we check out of Coronado Springs and into the Beach Club Villas with the extended family (in-laws, BIL/SIL, and 2 nieces). On Friday, we check out of there and everyone goes home, and D and I check into Carribbean Beach for Fri and Sat nights. Sunday we will leave early (~8AMish) so I can be back in time for my 6:30PM hockey game! :)

I think Amy and I had talked a bit about a mini-meet, so maybe we can coordinate something all together? Sat afternoon-Fri AM will be hard for me due to much family, but I might be able to break away, and the weekends will be easier since it is just the two of us.

:grouphug:

So - how many times have you cursed Jesse this morning? :rolleyes1

Have you still been getting any rides in outside?

Nancy - thanks for the hugs... they are very much appreciated. I have cursed Jesse more times than I can count today. I am still very tired and am taking a night off from the gym. My body needs a break. Sadly, I have not been outside on my real bike in about three weeks due to scheduling conflicts and weather related issues. This weekend is looking perfect and I am going out for a real ride - finally. I can't wait. Besides, I need to get back into the feel of my bike. I have a race in like 4 weeks... :scared1:

Hi everyone... Glad to see everyone chiming in.

Joy - welcome to the bunch. We are a crazy bunch, but why bother if you can't be a little crazy from time to time right? I'm Paula and I am going to be 38 next week. I am single and have no kids (yet). I had a starting weight that was way too high (probably the highest of everyone here) and have lost 73 pounds so far. I started Jenny Craig in Sept of 2007 and lost 30 - 35 pounds in the first 8 months and then nothing. I bobbed along gaining and losing the same five pounds until January, 2009. As frustrating as it was, it was also the first time that I had lost any significant amount of weight and kept it off so it was truly a victory. I spent that time learning to change my attitude towards food and became a much stronger person as a result. I knew that the exercise was a vital component to my success so I hired a personal trainer in January of this year and have become a total exercise nut (who knew?) and work out 5 - 6 days a week. I recently completed my first organize bike ride (BikeMS) and am about to do my next one later this month.

Liz's words about starting small are so true. You need to start small, find a plan that works for you and focus on making life long changes. I chose to tackle the food issues first and then added the exercise components and it is working for me. Others did the exercise thing first. It is a preference thing. I don't drink soda at all (unsweetened iced tea and water are my beverages of choice), but I do have something sweet almost every day. I know my limitations and that is one of them. It is about choices and what works best for you. If you stop and listen to your body, it will tell you what you need. Trust it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

That would be really neat if we could all get together and chat for a bit. Lord knows that after I leave Friday, I will be ready to get away from beyonce's parents by...like....Saturday afternoon :rotfl: so as long as it doesn't coincide with an ADR I am good for whenever!!!!

Have you been to Coronado springs before? You'll have to let me know how you like it; we are considering staying there for our honeymoon (which will hopefully be next year...keeping my fingers crossed)

I LOVE Coronado Springs. It is our fav mod. We are just doing CBR for the 2nd part of the trip to change it up a bit, since we will be back at Coronado in October.

However, it is big and sprawled out, so when you check in be sure to ask for Buildlings 1-3 or 8-9.

I find it very romantic and very adult, with understated theming. Be aware, though, that their food court is geared toward conventioneers and has some pretty high prices, so you may want to go for your quick-service meals in the parks. However, they do count as quick-service on the dining plan (if you use it) and is a great use of credits!! :)

Hi Tracy!! - like Lyz said "jump in" - otherwise it can get quick around here.

Hi Joy!!!

Welcome to both of you. :lovestruc And any other newbies that I might have missed while I was away.

I've been a newbie. Most started in January 2008. I didn't start to August 2008. So I know how daunting it can seem - but at the same time the most welcoming. So hi!

I'm Lisa - didn't really look over screen names before I jumped on the DIS!!!:lmao:

I'm 42. Single. No children (yet! - thanks Paula - although I think at 42 I'm hmmm)

I've lost for sure somewhere over eighty (don't know the exact number b/c of no scale - and recently gained back twenty).

I've gained b/c I'm off my exercise schedule and I lost all that weight not looking at food at all. I just tried to eat consciously. And it obviously worked - I lost over eighty but slowly over years - but with food or exercise or both - whatever one chooses you have to keep it up. The lesson of the century.

I'm struggling because I lived in two condos with gyms and didn't realize how much that helped me stay on track. If I had an excuse I was like "upstairs now". Yes I talk to myself. I've tried to build something in my basement but it's not turning my crank obviously.

I feel I'm at a very critical point here - twenty back on. There are people on the thread that are confident regardless of their weight but unfortunately I'm not one of them. I long to be but I'm not. And I feel like I'm losing confidence very quickly. Plus, for me, exercise is critical for my mental health. Critical. So I feel like I'm sliding on all fronts. And quite frankly it's scary - the weight I can handle - the lack of mental health I can not.

Holy crap :lmao: Joy :rotfl: - how did I get there answering your simple questions.

Okay better stop. :surfweb:

Okay here's my start. We are so spontaneous that we decided to hit the Ex before we crossed the border for our trip. The Ex is the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE). It's just on the fringe of downtown - it's old time fabulous - and it's been running for 150 years. So we hit opening day with $1.50 admission for the anniversary.

Strap yourself in. Grab your dough. Bring your competitive streak and for our WW winners definitely save your "bonus" points for the Tiny Tom Donuts.

And there is an entire building - massive building - just for food (but of course food is everywhere!!!!).

Lyz and Nancy (and Erika :lmao: I'll get to that) I thought of you as I passed the farm animal building. I go in every year. But Jean suggested I didn't enter this year after my goat roti. Do you remember last year? I break down and feel like sh!t every single year as I stare at the goats and feel like I'm going to be a vegetarian any moment and it never comes. So this year I refrained from the farm animal drama I create.

Here we go:

101_2168.jpg

Love me rubber duckies!

101_2119.jpg

101_2127.jpg

101_2129.jpg

Okay this game is my thing. I win the water gun game every single year. Really, I rock. If I'm bragging you know I must be good. :lmao: And that day I didn't win. So the gun toting girl must return soon. Cause I'm not having it.

Once, it was priceless. There were these guys - you know GUY guys - muscles and girlfriends supporting their guyness. They were all lined up. No girls in sight playing. Weird. And they're aiming - ready to go - slunching overlike their all their chips are depending on the win - their girlfriends ready for their man's stuffed animal in their loving arms. And I run up and say "one more". And we start and I knew my start was beyond beautiful. OMG. I can hear the girlfriends - you know the tight jean/tube top girlfriends - chattering behind me laughing- "OMG the girl is going to beat them all". You see the key is never to look up.

And I won and grab my prize and quckly leave. And the mic guy screams off to me - "she comes, she conquers - she kills us all and leaves us standing here".

For a competitive person - well a fine day. :lmao:

Okay back to regular programming - where was I?

FOOO!!!!

101_2137.jpg

See I wasn't lyin' :rotfl: It does exist. By the way - watch that line Nancy and Lyz I have NYC pics just for you!!!

And here's the crowd in there.

What did I have? Goat roti of course. And a pineapple pop.

101_2131.jpg

This picture is something. I didn't realize it when I took it. But that condo in the background is the one where we kept missing suites. It's great it's downtown but near parkland.

101_2132.jpg

101_2122.jpg

101_2120.jpg

101_2144.jpg

Some more great night shots to come. And then on to AKV via Pittsburgh even though I live closer to Buffalo.

Okay - so still at the Ex - having fun running around and eating some delicious crap.

101_2154.jpg

101_2162.jpg

101_2158.jpg

101_2163.jpg

101_2169-1.jpg

So we're off to the border. To Pittsburgh. This was a last minute trip. And quite frankly Pittsburgh rocks for last minute low prices. Buffalo was up well over a hundred each way and Pittsburgh was still at $64.

So the background. No DVC points left. We have lovingly borrowed into oblivion. So I see a rental for $5 a point. Scored. However, just as I transfer the money to him - we couldn't do a transfer - just as I pay he gets called for business and doesn't let me know. So I'm in *** mode :scared1:for a good 36 hours. I knew in my heart he wasn't a crook - beyond my heart I checked some things - but boy was that tough.

So we got three nights in a Value one bedroom for peanuts. Peanuts!!!! My friend commented to me "Lisa you sold your NYE BW view room for $20 a point and scored this for $5????". Why yes I did! and  (newbies renting my NY ressie was a killer).

So guess what Savanna is a booking category for many more points. But some Value rooms (smaller rooms) are facing the Savanna. One third. And we got one!!!!!!:dance3: Am I blessed/fortunate or what.

It's hot. Our room is not ready. I want to go swimming and down my lovely slide but putting sunscreen on is a FT job for my skin and no park passes so we hit the __________________________

But first just to remind you that we are not at the fair. And this isn't a farm animal. :rotfl:

That I know of anyway. :rotfl:

101_2433.jpg

So yes no passes - the girls hit the arcade.

101_2176.jpg

101_2181.jpg

She killed me in both and that almost killed me. I'm very competitive.

This was fun!:dance3:

101_2190.jpg

101_2191.jpg

And here is how you know we are in Florida. My hair. :lmao:

101_2372.jpg

You know crazy -damaged - big - no comb through hair or not - at least I have eyes in this pic, eh? Nice to see that instead of slits.

Okay, that's it for tonight. Photobucket won't load the bulk uploader and I'm doing this one by one.

Lisa - Welcome home!!!! Great photos and great trip report so far. Can't wait to see and hear more.

Hi everybody!

I haven't had time to read yet, but I just had to pop in and share some great work news.

Starting Tuesday, I get to work 7am-4pm!! Finally after about 3 years of working 10-7. I am so excited.

I am working on a report, so I will be back before bed.

Welcome Joy!

I'm Ronda. 45, DGF is Sue. I've lost 70 pounds over the last 9 years. About 25 in the last year. Recently I've taken up running and am doing the WDW half marathon in January.

I have the luxury of time. I run in the early morning three days a week. When I'm not running before work I'm getting there on a bicycle.

Three things have made a huge difference in my weight.

1. Tracking. Everyone who mentions tracking is right. Write it down and own it. You don't have to blog and confess to everyone, but at the end of the day YOU KNOW and that's powerful.
2. Prepare your own food. Again I have time to do this. Of 21 meals a week, we'll eat out twice - maybe. I like to cook and it feels great to control what I'm eating. We don't cut every corner, but reducing fats and oils makes a big difference.
3. Exercise. For me this drives it all. I started using a running program last winter called Couch to 5k (www.c25k.com). In nine weeks I was running 30 minutes at a stretch. I would have NEVER thought it possible. Now that I've got the half marathon goal I'm becoming, uh, obsessed with my running schedule.

The other big thing I do is live in moderation. It took me 15 years of adulthood to reach 245 pounds. It's not going to come off fast either. I like food and I'm weak for chocolate. I don't go hungry and I enjoy some candy once in a while.

My people live to ripe, old ages. I want to be traversing the country in my 80s. To do that then, I have to do this now. It's the long view, but it works for me.

Enjoy your trip to WDW. You're going to get plenty of exercise. I've found vacations to be a great launch for exercise.

Good luck and welcome!

Ronda

I can't believe there is a "Food" building. Canadians.

I think your hair looks awesome like this. VaVaVaVoom.

Your camera takes the BEST pictures.

I love what you wrote - every ounce of it. Great words form a great lady! :lovestruc

Lisa - love the pics and your hair is sexy all mesyy and tousled!:3dglasses

Ok - so I just talked to Treyner and he had his meeting with the coches to talk about progress, future etc.

They had 5 incomming Freshman goalies.
1 - kid is already leaving and is going to BYU next year for sure.

Down to 4 .
1 - New Mexico kid - 30 punds lighter and 1 inch sorter than Treyner - Treyner's assessment:
Does not have the best hands, knocks the wind out of himsself every time he hits the ground because he does not fall right and has short steps on the field. Team hates him because he is cocky and arrogant and coach has said as much as well.

2 - another kid from Colrado - again - not as built as Treyner and not as quick or dedicated Treyner feels.

3 - Mark - Treyner's roomate from Durango so he has worked with the coaching staff and team for 3 years now knowing he wanted to come here. Treyner feels he is the #1 spot right now (they are built almost identical but Treyner has a longer wing span by 3 inches) but is not as good as Treyner. Knowing player names, how coach practices and already altitude adjusted comming into season was ahuge help for Mark.

4 - Treyner

So the coach asked Treyner how he felt and asked him to assess his performance thus far - Treyner said he felt he did not perform up to his abilities the first 2 weeks and since then is giving 100% and although he does not see himself as the #1 spot currently - knows with his work ethic and skill potential he can deserve it as a starting varsity goalie for next year.

Coach said that he is in a spot where he needs to let some guys go because all of them could be playing somewhere else if not there and it is not fair to have them benched when they can be utilized elsewhere. He said he thought for sure Treyner and Mark could play elsewhere at a Div 2 school right now or a lower level Div 1 school. That he saw Treyner giving 100% on the field every day.

So we still are in a holding pattern but if they release Treyner - he wants to leave at semester so he can train and attend a school with the future team. He is not upset by this possibility and he said, "Soccer was 75% of why I choose here and it is what I need to follow. Maybe California or Florida."

The thought of moving him to another school and that whole process of coach finding/school finding again is going to make me hurl if it happens!

There is just no way to judge it. It takes more scholarship money to give Treyner a full ride than Mark so would it come down to money deciding who stays? Less money for Mark means more to give another player if need be. But Mark does not work out and that is a huge thing for the coach.

I just need to sit back and wait and have faith God will place him where he belongs. It is nice hearing from Treyner now a few times a week. Probably every other day. Ya never know when kids leave if it will be the last you hear from them unless they need money!:lmao:

Yes Lyz - it is definitely a fair.

But a massive one. The midway is huge and there is a separate kiddie midway. There are no permanent rides. It's Conklin. There used to be a wooden roller coaster but of course they took it down like every other historic loveliness in the city.

CNE stadium used to house the Blue Jays. I used to get $2 tickets and sit way out with the drinkers. And saw many a concert there - Wham, Leif Garrett:lmao:, Peter Gabriel, U2 etc. But of course that's gone to. Now they have a soccer stadium that is fabulous. Kelly - Celtics FC and a famous Spanish team were footballing last night.

It has farm animals - horse jumping - flower sumtin' competitions - age guessers - weight guessers etc. etc. and it is downtown. Strange and wonderful all wrapped up.

Every year there is some poor pig who has to give birth for us all though...

A couple of years ago I talked to a farmer and asked her if some pigs really eat humans. Fascinating conversation. ;)

When I was a child there were lumberjack shows and fashion shows. :dance3:

And a huge air show this weekend. I never had to go to the air show because they literally turned around right over my building. :lmao: I'm using the laughing icon but quite frankly if you forgot it was air show weekend it felt like someone was about to bomb you.

http://www.theex.com/ Just in case you want to peek.

My hair. Yes I agree - it doesn't look bad in the pic. I don't hate it. But it is very damaged in real life.

But it is Florida hair. I do not have thick hair - I have very fine hair just lots of of the fine crap. And the minute I touch Florida or the Carolinas for that matter it just expands and expands. It's like my hair says "we're here!!!!" before me. :lmao: I guess it's what Kat and Amy talk about with their skin.

The food building. This year I instantly had the thought "oh boy Lyz would LOVE this. I wish she was here". Just in case that comes across as an insult - it's not. I adore food. You adore food. Yeah. There is everything under the sun. Has to be hundreds and hundreds of booths in there.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome Ronda! I have heard about the Couch to 5K program. DH bought me a treadmill about 6 months ago so I may try that and see how it goes. :goodvibes

Dawn - The Treyner situation must be so stressful for you. Extra hugs for today.:hug::hug: Please keep us posted if you hear any news. :goodvibes

OK, I have a few more questions today - you all are going to hate me if I keep this up. :rotfl:

- How often do you weigh yourself?
- What are your favorite healthy meals and snacks?

I started a new diet ticker and I'm hoping it will help keep me motivated. My starting weight from this morning is 202.5 and my first goal is 180. I am going to try to do 20 pound increments.

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

I have very fine hair as well, and like you, lots of it. It is wavy/curly but not enough to really go with the curl. From May until October, my hair is generally in either a ponytail or a clip, as I have the same issue that you do with it. So I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. :goodvibes
