In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

I will give you one guess at what it's doing outside. Yep, you are right. It's raining again. Grr. It was super hot here today, so we have some thunderstorms now. Joy.

It is disgustingly hot and humid right now that I would pay for a thunderstorm to hit just to clear out the humidity... Hate this! Hate. This.

Cathie - congrats on the loss. :cool1::dance3::cool1:

Off to go lock myself in my room with my AC...

Racing around like crazy getting all packed, etc. About 75% done now, so I feel like I can breathe a bit. We aren't leaving until after lunch tomorrow, so there will be some time then, too. But, of course, I also have tennis and a pedicure tomorrow before we leave... :rotfl2:

:grouphug: hugs all around today! It's *definitely* feeling like a Monday!

And that right there is it in a nutshell for me. It's once again become a "battle". I truly want to be able to embrace it as my "lifestyle" but right now my brain is rejecting that idea!

:flower3: lots of things to consider....I'd say weigh the pros & cons and then follow your gut! Stepping out of your comfort zone isn't always easy, but that's how we discover the best things in life sometimes!

Almost to the 50 lb mark :yay: That is AWESOME!!! Sorry for the work stress crap. They need to hire you some help!

I will just quote this message because I think its awesome advice!

Nancy, what is hot to you? It was 89 when I got in my car this morning at 9:45AM. Our high is supposed to be 101 today, I think?

Hot to us this year has been mid-70's if we were lucky! One day it got into the 80's and I kid you not, the whole country came to a standstill! :rotfl:

I'm a freakin' human sham-wow! :rotfl2:

:lmao: I love the word sham-wow, even though I don't know what it is :rotfl:

Had a great date night last night, ate far too much food and Im paying for it today, I feel really bloated! Lots and lots of water for me today!
I really enjoyed Harry Potter too, I know its had some mixed reviews but I enjoyed it!

Im off to put another load of washing in (im taking advantage of the dry weather and putting the washing on the line!) then Im going to dig out my WW work out dvd I think!

Have a great day everyone :upsidedow

Just got back from my WW weigh in and I lost 1.4 lbs :woohoo:

whoo hoo!:woohoo:

(is anyone else envisioning Clark Griswald & "Vacation" right now?:confused3)

:lmao: I love the word sham-wow, even though I don't know what it is :rotfl:

It's one of those super-absorbant cloths that can hold 12 times it's weight in water....so...human shamwow??? yeah. Not a pretty sight :rolleyes1

So after a debilitating headache last night - closest thing to a migrane that I can ever remember experiencing....I feel MUCH better. Thankfully - because we are racing to get ready for our 4H Fair this weekend. We have a whole.year. Why is it that everything has to get done at the very last minute? :headache:

Good Morning everyone!

I have not read at all and will try and get caught up on everyone's lives today and tom.

The good news is I lost 3.8 pounds in the 10 days we were gone! I had Tom last week plus with all the emotion about Treyner I really had to be mindful of why or what I was eating. Not too shabby for being on vacation and eating out of a cooler/grill! We only actually had one breakfast out and one day of eating not great choices due to the drive back. Obviously they were not the worst though.

I managed to hold myself together quite a bit in the transition of college drop off but it still feels like he is at camp or just away with friends. This morning I woke up, looked out the bathroom window at the driveway and my gut dropped not seeing his car in it. Then I went, "oh Yeah.":sad1: It is hard when yelling for the kids to come up and eat or whatever to not start with, "Treyner, Carsyn and Baylor." Baylor is moving down to Treyner's room and at first wanted a new color design, decorating change in it but now, he doesn't want me to even put a fresh coat of paint on it because it would cover Treyner's height chart in high school next to the door etc.

Carsyn cried and wants to look at school there. It is just strange for everyone at the moment.

Treyner called last night and on Friday when we left he had headed to a pharmacy because he was getting a sinus infection. He is worse and yesterday at his physical, was given more meds from the campus doc. Hopefully they work. He could barely breathe on the phone and said he had a migraine and we all know how crappy that feels. I asked him what he needed - he said - your soup. Then he said money cause all the money he has spent on meds is killing him! :rotfl2:

Today starts tryouts - there are 7 goalies vying for 4 places on the team - the senior starter already has one of those places locked - and he is worried about his health playing a factor in breathing esp. in the altitude while running etc. Today is the Cooper test (2 miles in under 12 minutes) so pray he does alright.

Carsyn is in captains practices for soccer - she decided to play her last 2 years of HS which I was beyond excited for her about. She did not play HS last year and she knows she is not the best or fastest so this is about getting in shape and finishing out her HS life having some fun. She expects to make JV and is is taking this on as a personal victory rather than a star athlete role. I am so PROUD of her!

Baylor will be in football in the fall - I am glad but worried how his leg will take the hits - we will have to figure out some protection for him - maybe he can wear a soccer shin guard? :confused3 He leaves for burn camp in Estes Park, Colorado next Monday and is happy about that.

My birthday will be with my 2 sons in Colorado and I have always been a person who did not care about gifts or a big shin dig, but I have never spent a day without them around the dinner table and that will be a bit sad. Life changes and I am ready to accept it - I had just not thought about that until my sister Laura, called last night and asked if I wanted to go out to eat this year instead of cooking since 2 of the 3 will be gone. She is 5 years younger than I am and since she has never married or had kids - we grew into adults with not much in common. She is a fantastic sister and Aunt though and I am lucky my kids have someone like her in their lives.

I will check in with you all later - hope your lives were healthy and good while I was gone!:grouphug:

Hi everyone!:lovestruc

I'l be back on in a couple of days. Just have something to sort through - a little emotional. Very actually. Can't wait to talk to you all though. And hope everyone is doing okay. Miss you Liz. And you too cutie.

Erika - have fun. Sounds lovely.

However, do know that Detroit to Toronto - ummmm - well there's only one way to say this - very boring. Very. Smiling. Just a head's up because I'm horrified that you won't see the beauty of Ontario. Cause it's not there. :rotfl2:;)

I was sighing about Vermont - in complete jealousy - because I have spent so much time travelling through Vermont. So much of my life. Lovely.

Anyway, obviously do only what you can - but would love to see you. We are up and down from here for a lacrosse tourney.

Dawn - Welcome back! Congrats on the weight loss! :thumbsup2 And you survived the college drop-off! OMG I'm freaking out about doing that. Next Thursday....and the phone calls! Seth CAN'T call. (Norwich University. Military School. Army ROTC. no cell phone, no ipod, no instant messaging, no facebook....) he can email...and he gets 1 ten minute phone call per week. When they tell him he can. So - I don't know what's worse! Not hearing from my son, or having him call me within days of drop off to tell me he's SICK! Oy. The stress of it all....

:flower3: Take care of yourself Lisa....

ok. time to hit that "to-do" list!

Oh shoot - Ottawa - Nancy.

Ottawa is four hours from Toronto. And now over five from me here. (Although I would see you in an instant). Northeast. It's only an hour from the outskirts of Montreal.

You know it's quaint for a city. Like it almost has a town feel to it. And quaint for a capital city for sure. Lots of parkland. Canal through the city - people skate to work/university in the winter. Loads of museums/culture of course. Huge open market right downtown. Bilingual because we are.;) and because Quebec is right over the bridge - Hull. Where Nancy can drink until 3 AM. :lovestruc It's a whole new world over the bridge in many ways.

And cold. It just makes a difference here to go just a tad north - interesting to me (Canada here is no different from many of your places though - a lot of Southern Ontario - Toronto etc/Niagara Falls is actually farther "south" than some of you - Dawn/Lisa P/R/Steph and even possibly Erika) Where Toronto rarely gets too cold in the winter - Ottawa does - as in one rarely ever wears a hat in TO and has to in Ottawa. And Ottawa is snow, snow snow. Toronto sucks for snow - lacks it. It's our position on the lake. Buffalo gets killed as does Stacey in Rochester. Toronto no. I'm the kind of person that if it is winter and cold bring on the snow or what the heck is the point. I will get snow up here in Collingwood. Yeah!!! It's a ski resort area.

Ask away Nancy. My head is complete mush and I will be back in a few days.

Hey all!

So I officially started training for the Disney full marathon yesterday! YEAH!
A few weeks early but I so needed to start to get myself back on track, and it also leaves me some wiggle room in case I miss one of the LONG runs. I also got back on track with my water and vitamins. My worst part for food lately has been mindless snacking. Once I get back to work it won't be an issue anymore.

Kelly--Happy Belated Birthday!!

Erika--Safe travels!

LisaV--Hugs.

Kat--I do love the humidity for my skin. When I go up north now, everyone always asks me what products I use on my skin! I only use a normal facial soap, so I give the humidity most of the credit.

Cathie and Dawn--Yeah on the losses!!

We are going to WDW this weekend for a few nights!! I don't remember if I posted this here yet or not) SSR! A sort of celebration of the end of my work hiatus. I may be working a crazy schedule for awhile while training so we wanted to do something as family.

LisaV -hope your mush eases a bit -
Nancy - I would not trade mine for yours! Well right now I say that but only once a week calls means only asking for money once a week too!:lmao: I kept tearing up looking out the window of the car - but bit my lip and refused to give in to a full blown sob fest- I mean it is college - he is 18 1/2 - I knew this day would come - I am glad he had the grades and talent to get into college - I am glad he is strong enough to know he can do this and be 24 hours from home - what am I sad about?
I just walked down to his room - first time since being home and he left after Dan and I did - saw the disaster left behind form whirlwind packing - and laughed - I think it would have shocked me if it was tidy -typical Treyner and I guess that is what makes me sad the most - I do not want him to change what makes him Treyner - I am afraid I will get a kid back that I do not know anymore. I am worried that at Christmas it will be like a stranger is in the house.
We have all known someone that moved away and comes back totally different. Sometimes for the better - but sometimes for the worse. And that is not anything I can control or influence and that is not a comfortable place for me. It is a weird feeling - I want this for him - but am scared of the unkown - kinda like when I graduated from college -not sure what job was in the future, what location we would live in and though I was excited for the future - I hate the worrying if everything will be okay!

You will be good Nancy - you are a good Mom and he is bright and strong and capable. Just keep in your heart that he is what all of us hopes our daughters will find someday - a person willing to take the high road cause it is the right thing - not the easiest. I respect his choice to serve this country more than I have said to you and you have more admiration from this Mom for raising a son to be that kind of MAN than I would give to most of the seniors I knew that were more worried about partying and the moment than their future.

I will be thinking of you next week.

So I officially started training for the Disney full marathon yesterday! YEAH!

I can't tell you how honestly jealous I am of that right now. I crave structure. It'll come...I just need to be patient for a few more weeks...

so - what training plan are you following?

ugh. back to work. I need to focus a little more here....:headache:

Congrats and good luck on the marathon -- you are so awesome!

We'll be in Orlando this weekend, too. I'm excited -- we fly out on Saturday morning, so I just have to make it through this crapalicious week at work. :cutie:

I guess that is what makes me sad the most - I do not want him to change what makes him Treyner - I am afraid I will get a kid back that I do not know anymore.

 to you, I know it must be hard to see your child take that big adult step away from home.

Well, after a fairly yucky weigh-in on Friday (up almost 3 lbs - huh?) probably due to TOM and lotta salt the night before.....I decided I needed to step up my game this week. Eat properly, exercise, water, etc. Only a few days till we leave for a week of vacation, and I want to go into it strong. So far so good. I weighed in again on Monday, just to make sure I wasn't crazy, and I was back down to my normal weight again. Thank goodness....

Hope you all are inside in air conditioning today - hazy hot and humid in Baltimore today. :hippie:

Nancy--
I seriously thrive off of the structure of a training plan. I love it.

I am basically following MFM run/walk plan. Pretty much 3 shorter runs, plus one long run per week. I think the shorter runs will max out at 50ish minutes and the LONG run at 20 miles.. It calls for 5:1 R/W intervals at the end of the training, but I think I will probably do something a bit longer, maybe run a mile, walk a minute or 2 something like that. I just want to have fun with this race. Take tons of pics and all that.

LisaZ--You will be all ready for the heat and humidity here!!! Where are you staying?

Just did a bunch of squats, push ups and crunches! Once I take my vitamin I will be good for today!

Just did a bunch of squats, push ups and crunches! Once I take my vitamin I will be good for today!

We're staying 3 nights onsite at Universal, and then 4 nights offsite on International Drive.

Do some more squats, push ups and crunches for me, okay? I don't want to do any! :cutie:

Hi! I heard back from Treyner and he threw up twice and ran the 2 miles in about 14 minutes. Was supposed to do it in 12. 80% of the team did not and as a goalie - he is not a runner to begin with. All the kids who did not make it need to run an hour before breakfast the next two weeks. Not fun since they have 8 hours of practice after. Hopefully his sinus infection gets better because he will need a clear head to have a prayer of making it. I have never heard him discouraged before in any athletic event and he is hating himself right now. Since I have 0 running experience - I need some advice:

The college is at about 6800 feet above sea level - we are at about 725 so for all you excersize junkies out there - how much does that affect a run? His coaches had said that it takes almost a month to get altitude adjusted.:confused3 Any advice for him besides sleep and lots of water?

Dawn: first of all, you can tell Treyner that only in my dreams would I be able to run 2 miles in 14 minutes!! I don't know much about the altitude stuff, other than that it just takes time to get used to it. I imagine because he is sick on top of it that it probably feels even worse. And the hydration is a no brainer regardless of where you are. I would love to train for a race in a higher altitude and than come back here and run at sea level!!

 <--- that's me right now!

LisaZ - Hi! So nice to hear from you!

I am basically following MFM run/walk plan.

There were a lot of people that I saw at the Disney marathon who were doing the run/walk interval plan. Seems like a pretty solid way to train!

Dawn - no real advice from me either. But I *do* know that it's gonna take a while to adjust to the altitude, and the resulting decreased oxygen levels. The first time Stephen & I were ever in Denver, I went for a run....felt GREAT. Then...I crashed. For the next few days I felt like I had bronchitis - just not enough oxygen entering my system....

Howdy!

It's the first day of school eve and the kiddos are driving me nuts. Ryan had football practice tonight and he is so exhausted (missed it because of work). That's a good thing. Taylor starts kindergarten tomorrow and can't wait. My babies are growing up. I hate that school starts in August here. If I was in charge, I would at least factor in a fall break.
