In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Hi gang..

thinking of you all and reading everyone's posts.... work has me crazed today, but will post later when I get home from a friend's birthday dinner...

Food wise - I am doing good today...

B - JC cereal w/ raspberries, skim milk and a cup of tea
L - JC panini sandwich, yogurt, celery w/ PB and a banana
S - my daily apple and vitamin bar...

Love you all and my quick thoughts (not complete, but quick)...

E - don't need to have a holiday themed picture for your card... go with something that makes you smile... I like it when I get cards with everyone in the picture and not just the kids... oh and tell J to get over it... he is sick, be a man and deal with it....

Steph - I have ideas for your party... will send them later tonight....

Liz - glad to have you posting again.... you are such an inspiration... will have to try the haystacks...

Lyz - just love you for being you...

Dawn - sending hugs and prayers.... I can't be at Raglan Road for dinner, but I will stop by for drinks... I will be at the Candlight Processional concert that night... I'll call when I leave Epcot and we can catch up... I so need to send you all my schedule for that week so we can figure out when to get together....

Paula

Honey, I love you. :goodvibes We need to chat re body image sometime soon, sister.

I second the motion!

Oh and Liz I have had them with butterscotch chips mmm good and I think she had mini marshmallows in them too!

I bet that is super yum!!!

Hey everyone!!

So, I got my LR in today. Well, since I had DD in her stroller, it was more of a wog, but I did do about 7 miles in about 1:40. Obviously way slower than usual, but ok. I thought I only did 6.5 ish, but since I forgot to turn my garmin back on 4 times after stopping it to cross roads, I used mapmyrun when I got home to check distance and was glad to see I had done 7 miles. I don't usually take DD on runs at all. ( I am selfish about my runs, I view it as my alone time) Her stroller is not technically a jogger, it is an all-terrain (it has the 3 wheels like a jogger). It worked ok. I may look on craigslist for a true jogging stroller. I decided the weather was just too nice to get on the dreadmill today. I sacrificed some speed, but at least I got the distance in. Only issue I had was a pain in my right leg. All the way down and it wasn't muscle pain or cramping. I hope to do some pilates and crunches while I watch TV tonight.

I also mopped and vacummed, 3 loads of laundry AND made chili for dinner!

Erika-I hope all goes well with your DD's appointment and testing. :goodvibes I also love the picture. It reminded me that I need to think about what I should do for a card this year.

Liz-I :lovestruc weekday drinking. I will be trying the haystacks next week. DD might even eat those.

Steph-Nothing wrong with boxed wine. target sells a great boxed sangria. And I am a sangria snob.

Everyone else-

Well done, Amy! I never go out when I have my kiddo, and I am impressed you did. :goodvibes

Um, weekday drinking AGAIN. Right now. I have leftover champagne! Must be drunk!

I do know and I am so grateful for it.

I am fine now. Things were definitely hairy earlier, but Kel is at my mom's and everyone else in my house is asleep, so I am much more centered now.

Okay - so I have internet at the hospital and am gratefull to let you all know what is going on...

Baylor's leg started oozing today through the bandages and so we headed to the burn unit again to get re-bandaged....

The look of the nurses face was enough to say it all when she unwrapped his leg...

The doc came in and confirmed it was "not going in the right diretion" and thus the need for surgery tom at 11am

He wil have skin taken from his upper thigh and it will be taken off in several layers so they can use it in sheets to cover his whole burn area on his leg.

When Chad was burned in 1990 they put his skin through a mesh like siv in order to stretch it and that created a waffle pattern on his grafted skin..

Baylor's will not have that look...simple sheets of skin...but they will graft the whole burnt area....not just the few spots of 3rd degree because it would create more of an odd pattern on his leg to have some grafted, some new growth and his original skin...

This way it will only have a fine, white, line like a surgical incession for a scar and that will just be on the outer edges where they attach the graft...

From what I understand the donor site will be very painful..takes 10 -14 days to heal...leg should be okay in about 2 weeks as well...

He will have to wear compression socks on his leg for about a year to make sure the skin strengthens...no contact sports for many months...so no phy ed...no snowboarding and no hockey..but maybe soccer this late spring...summertime...

Literally it will be a year of progress before this is going to be mended...he will be here in the hospital for at least 5-7 days...laying still for at least 4...no flowers or live plants on this floor...we are seeing some kids with their whole heads wrapped...so he is understanding how "fortunate" (his word choice) he is....

Pastor was here earlier...I think that helped Baylor more than anything...

(On a side funny note..cause ya gotta laugh at some point...he finally had a bm earler -pain meds blocks ya up like no other.... - and since..has been releasing toxic odors that would gag a maggot...he is laughing...I am dying...festering inside his body for 6 days was not a good thing...

Anyway...the blood sucker came to take a vial (hi steph) and he had just released one...so here is me and Treyner and one of Treyner's friends just dying cause Baylor is so embarrassed...the guy ducked in and said he would be right back...in the 30 seconds that remained...Baylor was trying to get the smell away from him...including..blowing out of his mouth like you would a birthday candle...

I think it was the first time I saw him laugh since all this began...

He is nervous about tom...so am I....please everyone..think of him...pray for peace in his heart and for him not to be so worried..and me too..:lovestruc

Dawn and Erika , :goodvibes ,prayers and Good thoughts for both of you!

Liz, since you brought it up I must confess to some more weekday drinking too. :rolleyes1 I have to admit I am pretty impressed with myself for getting out there with DD today. I am hoping to do 8-9 miles next week.

EriKa - sorry. Reality Bites. Poor J. Hope the kiddos don't get sick too. Or you! Thank goodness for grandma.

Dawn - super sorry for you. Sounds like you are in the right place tho. Baylor - ugh, poor fellow. Not only is he physically hurting, but I bet the emotions of it all are hurting too.

Tomorrow I will be praying for your two families.

I am sure many of you already know this, but it is worth posting. This is an AMAZING deal. If you play your cards right on this one, it cuts the price of your Disney trip about in half. I just did this for one of my friends and saved her $1450!!!

Free Nights Package Offer for January-June 2009

Disney is offering a fantastic "free nights" vacation package offer. This is probably the best offer I've seen since 2003. It is valid for stays January 4 through June 27, 2009 (with April 5-18 blacked out).

Here are the details:

* Buy a 4-night/4 day vacation package, get a 7-night/7-day package. That's 3 FREE hotel nights and 3 extra days on your theme park admission tickets!

* Travel between January 4 and March 29 and you will also get a $200 Disney Gift Card, redeemable for dining, souvenirs and more at Walt Disney World! (Travel after March 29 does not include the Gift Card.)

You can stay longer than 7 nights (up to 10 nights) with this package, but there is a maximum of 3 free nights and 3 extra days per ticket, per stay. You can stay less than 7 nights, but you still must purchase 4 nights, so you'll end up with less than 3 free nights/extra days: stay 5 nights, get 1 free; stay 6 nights, get 3 free. Obviously a 7-night stay is the best deal.

You can add the Quick Service Dining Plan, the regular Dining Plan, or the Deluxe Dining Plan, but you will pay full price for your dining plan (no free days of dining).

You must book this special package by 12/20/08.

IN-SANE day for me. Read everything, I'm really sorry for not responding to each individually...

ERIKA - holy crap, woman! Talk about reality slappin' you HARD! So sorry J is sick - my vote is for the flu, 'cause God knows we need that liver action (and while I'm always willing to pinch-hit, I'm already the designated drinker for Amy! ) I'll be thinking of you and Kel tomorrow...prayers on the fast track in your direction!

DAWN- you get "fast track" prayers as well (I think us PK's must have some kind of privleges!:woohoo: )...not a fun deal. At all. But the gas *is* funny. Sorry - but I have the maturity level of a 13 y.o. boy myself :rotfl2:

Steph - I'd love to talk wine :lovestruc

LIZ - fiber one...."keeps you moving" :rotfl2: can't you just see their new marketing campaign?? Too much of that, and I could give Baylor a run for his money! :scared: (God - I'm even competitive when it comes to flatulence! )

I had a kick-a$$ run today - 4.6 miles/45 minutes

Food -

B- kashi go lean, dried blueberries, milk
Sn - yogurt, peach, protein powder smoothie
L - salad with turkey, dried cranberries, ff rasp. vine....FIBER ONE BAR ;)
Sn - 2 toasted lite rye bread, with appox 1 TBSP goat cheese (yum), small apple
D - chinese out
Sn - (yikes) small sliver of that cake the kids gave me last night with a scoop of low fat mint chip ice cream.

Again - not enough water probably...but more than yesterday

OH!!! and I figured out my "headache" issue yesterday! Such a seemingly stupid, benign thing....It was because my NECK hurt, due to the apron I was wearing at work yesterday. It was a different one than the kind I usually wear - the fabric is a bit heavier, and the "neck loop" is....LONGER....so it was hanging funny. I realized that today when I put on my usual style...and was thankful that the dang thing wasn't pulling down on me and drivin' me crazy all day!

Nancy - weird such a little thing can throw you off.

Ok, Wakeup! (I'm waking up the boards. I know it's a technicality, since E is busy, but whatev. I'm taking it.)

I have a busy day. Got to do everything I put off all week, espically since Monday is a holiday and the banks will be closed.

I'll check in. Baylor and Kel:hug:  and their mammas

Oh and if you are wondering about my diet and exercise, cause that's the thread theme, well, it ain't. K. Bye

Nancy - weird such a little thing can throw you off.

I know, right? :confused3 But I know that when I wear a lanyard around my neck - even one that has barely anything attached to it - it bugs me. Strains my neck and gives me a headache :rolleyes1 Hubby calls me "princess and the pea"...

D/B & E/K....special thoughts and prayers for you guys

So - guess what I managed to do! I was able to wrangle the day off from work today. AND (it gets better...) in the month of November we are CLOSED Monday & Tuesday (with the exception of Thanksgiving week, of course!) SO...I have off until WEDNESDAY!  OMG does my house (and my LIFE) need some serious attention!

I'm off to the gym...Be well everyone. Have a happy, healthy day!

Erika, thinking of you and Kel and J. Hoping it isn't Hep A. Call/text if you need anything, or just to vent, okay?

Lyz, I feel ya. I weighed this morning. Not pretty. Size 14 jeans are on today and tight. Bleah.

Nancy, what do you do again? Trying to think what needs an apron...

Here is food and exercise for yesterday (thanks Liz for telling me to go to the gym!):

B: Half english muffin w/ sf raspberry jam (60)
L: Salad (100) + turkey pita (150) (and no free pizza, yay me!!)
D: 4 oz white meat chicken (120), 4 oz dark meat chicken (150), steamed broccoli (30?)
S: 1 bag ff popcorn (200), 3 or so beers (500?)

Total for the day, ~1300-1400. Exercise, 25 min on the elliptical trainer and 50 crunches.

And, got up at 7:30AM to take cat to the vet for the 2nd time this week, this time for an ultrasound. She has a UTI again, so we are afraid her bladder stones are back...

Sending hugs, prayers and good thoughts to Dawn, Baylor and the rest of her family and to Erika, J, Kelly and the rest of her family....

Going through medical issues is never fun, so laugh when you get the opportunity...

I think I posted this story in the first round of this thread, but I think it is worth repeating...

JAR OF LIFE
A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks right to the top, rocks about 2" diameter.
He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them in to the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. The students laughed.
He asked his students again if the jar was full? They agreed that yes, it was.
The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed.
The pebbles are the other things in life that matter, but on a smaller scale. The pebbles represent things like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else. The small stuff.
If you put the sand or the pebbles into the jar first, there is no room for the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, material things, you will never have room for the things that are truly most important.
Pay attention to the things that are critical in your life. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal."
Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter.
Set your priorities: The rest is just pebbles and sand

As much as we all get hung up on life's little things, it is during difficult times that we remember that the rocks are what matters...

Remember that one today gang.... your health, your family, your faith those are the rocks in your life... everything else is just pebbles and sand...

Hugs,
Paula

Lot of good thoughts Erika and Dawn and for your families!!:goodvibes

Nancy, get ready to be my designated drinker starting this sunday!!!

Kat, hope your cat is ok. :goodvibes

Food for yesterday:
Breakfast-oatmeal and coffee
Lunch-low sodium ham, small mozzarella and tomato salad
Dinner-chili and spaghetti

Snacks-Fruit snacks during my long wog.
Drinks-water, G2, one diet soda, one glass of wine and cider

I am busy getting ready to leave for girls weekend in west palm!! I did get in 100 crunches this morning and a bit of pilates, but DD took me laying on the floor as an invitation to climb and sit all over me!!!

Have a good weekend! there is some potential for drunk posting from me at some point.

Nancy, what do you do again? Trying to think what needs an apron...

I work at a local apple orchard, where I cook in the farm store kitchen. I make pies, breads, cookies, cakes, soups, quiche....all kinds of yummy stuff, and I try really hard not to perform too much "quality control" :rolleyes1

Being that it is an apple orchard - our real busy season is fall - when the fruit is ripe and we have "pick your own" apples...but we are open all year round - and most of the year I only work 3 days a week....In the fall - I work MUCH more. And while the paycheck is nice to get, it causes havoc in the rest of my life because I simply do too much! :confused3

And, got up at 7:30AM to take cat to the vet for the 2nd time this week, this time for an ultrasound. She has a UTI again, so we are afraid her bladder stones are back...

Poor kitty! Hope all goes well with her...

Remember that one today gang.... your health, your family, your faith those are the rocks in your life... everything else is just pebbles and sand...

Thanks Paula - I needed that today :flower3:

My workout was good....now I have to attack the day! My to-do list is beyond long!! But....I'm evaluating, prioritizing....and will do the best I can!

HI all...

Baylor was just taken to surgery...early...he freaked out a little...the same doctor who did Chad's grafting will do his - that's a change but all the nurses say he is th ebest doctor Baylor could have...most seasoned...

I am sorry not to be responding to everyone...it is all I can do to read it seems..I have been crying more than I thought possible...Baylor is such a tough kid and he has cried more than I have seen in 13 years total with him...

E - praying for your whole family...

Okay - will let you know after how he is doing..they still say we are a go for Dec...praying no infection or setbacks...

Isn't it funny how a trip about Christmas lights will end up being a trip about what the meaning of Christmas is..love and faith and family...and tying it together with some pixie dust as well please...

Financially I am praying for a miracle....need to get a crud load of book parties since I can't leave his side..working on that next week...one step at a time...

So good mid morning to all of you
  for Dawn and Baylor and   for Erika and Kel

Ok I may just have to go to target to get that sangria! i think I am going to do the Minimal stuff cheese and crackers and maybe a few veggies! i tend to go all out for these. Not going to do it this time! I don't have the money and most of these people probably won't show! I never have a good turn out for these things!

Ok so for sick men ... yeah I have one to! Stephen has been in bed since 730 this morning! he is freezing .. guessing he has a fever, guess he was sick last night don't know I was at work. I am trying to make him a grown up, notice I didn't say MAN because men are babies when they are sick. Although a plus for him he was up this morning and did get the boys breakfast and then when I got up he went to bed. I know he is sick he didn't even want to help his brother with his 8 point that he got! So now the only one in the house that hasn't had it is Tyler!

So again I have to work tonight! God it's such a drag!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I guess I enjoyed my two days off to much! Ok off to finishe picking up the kids messes! I swear they just can NOT make a MESS. I also think I am the only one capable of doing dishes and laundry in this house! So I have three loads to fold and probably 5 to wash and be at work at 215! I am tired already just thinking about it!
Have a great day!
Liz if there is anything Dire about Kel or Baylor can you text me!

Food yesterday!
B~yogurt-2 pts
L~ 1/2 turkey sub and a handful of dorito's 8 points
D~ chicken strip and mashed potatoes 10 points
I also resisted a dough nut
but then came home and had a slice of pizza and a beer! YOU GUYS ARE RUBBING OFF ON ME~:rotfl2:

Just for fun. I have been on facebook recently and have reconnected with some college friends, so we have been scanning and sharing old pictures. Here is one of me circa 1997, halloween as an 80's girl. Note the jelly shoes and charm necklace and big hair. good times.

Steph, definitely get the sangria. I think the biggest box they have (they have 3 sizes) is equivalent to 4 regular bottles and is under 20 dollars! Can't go wrong there. And if you don't finish it, it is good for up to a month in the fridge.

I just got a text from E, good news and bad news. Kelly's kidney is doing fine so no transplant, but she may need another surgery anyhow.

Nancy, holy crap!!! I would so not be strong in that environment.

Sorry so short, trying to finish something up at work.
