question about eats in your state room. how long is room service available in the evening? what about "doggie bags" from the resturants? i read on a few threads about bringing back desserts, what about heavier fair (dinners)?

Room service is available 24 hours a day, except for the last night of your cruise.
I am sure you could bring food to go from the restaurants, too. Myself, I've only brought desserts back, or food from the quick service outlets (chicken fingers with honey mustard...yum!).

On our Eastern cruise DS fell asleep at the formal dinner Sunday night. Our servers wrapped up his entire plate with foil to look like a swan so that he could enjoy it later on. On the last morning I went down to the dining room to request a plate of pancakes for the kids for breakfast since they don't eat donuts or anything else that was at Topsiders. It came out fast & covered with no problems. I honestly believe that our servers would have prepared anything we had asked for to take to our rooms.

Yes you can do both, desserts and dinners from the dinning rooms. On our cruise, one woman from the table was having a tough nite with the 'rocking and rolling'. The servers told her husband to pick out what his wife would like for dinner and they would get it ready and send it to her. I think someone delievered it to their stateroom because hubby left without it. I was stuffed after our meal but the double chocolate fudge cake was just too much temptation for this chocolate freak. I could not finish it. Never the less it was wrapped up with fresh silverwear and a napkin as a bow. I found myself up at 4 am sitting on the vererandah finishing my cake. Boy, that is living.

Room service is also available 24 hours a day (except on the very last morning).

We had problems with the norwalk virus on our last cruise and our servers sent my dinner to the room on the 1st night that our son was sick. After that, we were all quarantined, so we went down and picked off the menu about 6 oclock and they sent it to us when we asked for it.

Room service also went out of their way to make us things that weren't on the standard menu (like plain pasta or plain chicken broth) for the sick kiddos. Luckily, I never got the virus, so I could eat anything I wanted (in case you're wondering why people with a stomach virus would actually want to eat!).

tkd lisa - thanks for sharing that with us. I can imagine how awful it was to be quarantined, but thankfully, DCL came through in that way!

So sorry to hear that story though -

Rae

We were so full the thought of getting more food never crossed my mind.
