In-room Celebration

I'm thinking about adding the "Mickey Mouse Grand Welcome" in-room celebration to our stay at the GCH. I think the look on my 4-year-old son's face would be priceless and memorable.

It seems like there's been only positive comments - appreciating there's a cost - but anyone have a recent experience with this in-room celebration?

I booked an In Room Celebration for my husband and I during our last trip in October for our first wedding anniversary. Although, I did the From Mickey & Minnie with Love celebration, we really enjoyed it. It would definitely be something I would consider if I had kids.

I have a link in my signature to my thread with pictures.

Thanks, Kristan - that's very helpful!

I just need to figure out how to bring the goodies back via plane. They said the contents may change but I guess I can prepare for that as well.

Thanks again!

Well worth it for me - my son's expression was awesome! Highly recommend if it's in your budget.

I didn't get the Celebration on our last visit because of the price, but I did get the less expensive $15 cake (in a treasure chest) and balloons for my son who was 6 at the time. He LOVED it! In fact he still remembers that cake 3 years later as one of the high points of the trip ;p

We're going this year to celebrate his 9th birthday and I'm eyeballing the Celebrations for this trip, but I don't know if those prices are worth it. It's $400 for a few presents and stuff?? I was thinking about asking the hotel (GCH) if they'd be willing, if I sent them a few wrapped presents, to put those on the bed of our room along with the cake and balloons for me. It would save a lot of money!

But I'm undecided. I'm looking forward to the input in this thread to help with my decision as well! :)

The amazing folks on the Creative DISigns board http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105 do some fantastic Grand Welcome type things that you can print out at home. They're really friendly about personalizing materials. When we went last year I had treats 'coupons' and notes for my daughter every day and only spent money on printing.

The staff here at GCH seem very helpful so I think they would do that. I think I saw a thread where someone did do a great job in putting together some cool stuff on their own. It looked very Disney.

It's hard to say if it's worth it from a purely product perspective. The plushies, balloons, toys, candy, banners, Tinkerbell light, etc. are all from Disney so they are costly. So I would guess if you bought them individually, it would still be costly. However, if you bought these things elsewhere or made them yourselves, it would be cheaper for sure.

For me, I don't have much time as a single parent and having a busy career - I'm still doing work on the laptop after my son is in bed. More importantly, I don't have the talent or creativity - LOL!

Would love to see pictures if you can post...

My DH and I are heading back in July, and since it is his birthday, I'm thinking of doing one of the other celebrations for him.

Just curious, what type of pricing are we talking about for the in room celebrations?

A lot. Lemme see if I can find the thread with the pricing details.

Here's the thread I saw posted last week or the week before last (the weeks are really running together now that we're inside a month until DLR).
