A friend just informed me what days the parade is being taped ABC and its of course the day were in MK first on the 9th. There is no changing that. Has anyone been in a park when they taped this, Does it ruin things or make it more difficult to do things? Will they be taping before the park opens because I scheduled a ADR for 8 that morning for CP so we would be in the park early to experience this. Our plan that day is breakfast there, then head to adventureland, frontierland and that side of the park and peter pan FP. That night we are doing the Christmas party. I'd assume that the taping wont be going on for that? I knew something wrong was bound to happen :confused3

They typically start taping a couple of hours before the park opens. So Main Street could very well be blocked off before you get there for your 8am ADR.

I'm in the exact boat, I have a 830 CP res that I was so excited about on the 9th! But I'm hoping it means crowds are very low on the rides. We have a breakfast at CRT on the 7th but it's not prepark... Maybe I need to start stalking again to see if I can change it.

This really upsets me. I purposely choose that ADR so we could be in the park early. Now we'll walk into MK for the first day and Main street will be a mob scene. How will we even get to where we need to go :( at least we have BBB at 8am on Friday so its our second chance of an empty Main street. UGHHHHHHH

I think the only neat thing about this is we can see the taping for a bit then on Christmas day when we watch it on TV my daughter will be pretty excited to know she was there when it was being taped. Luckily we have our 3 FP and reservation even though its early and taping will happen. But we will just make the best of it. I am assuming this does not go on all day? And why would it be more crowded? Do people get in free to see the taping or something or more people come because of it? I'd think people would want to avoid it?

The backstage routes will be open to bypass the Main Street section where taping occurs. You'll be able to get to your ADRs. Another option is to walk through the stores,

You have to have tickets to watch the parade taping along Main Street. You should be able to see bits and pieces from the edges of the Hub.

We're in the same boat. We're doing the Steam Train Tour from 7:30-10:30am, will eat, then have FP's all over the park. Have no idea how the parade will affect the timing of getting where we need to be. I read somewhere that people won't have tickets this year, so you arrive early, will they just let you in??

Some people will be there specifically to watch the parade, which is why the ride lines can be shorter than expected. The only bad experience I have had was a year where it rained Saturday and Sunday, so they taped on their backup day of Monday. Of course, no one was prepared for the taping to be taking place that day, so not only did you have the parade crowd, and the normal Monday crowd, but you had people who had avoided the MK all weekend thinking they were avoiding the taping who showed up as well. That was kind of a mob scene (kind of like July 4th crowds).

At least with some (although not much) notice, people who can and want to change their plans to not be in the park will do so, and it shouldn't be horrible.

I miss the days of the live parade on Christmas Day. We set the VCR to tape the parade, went to MK and stood right across from one of the cameras, and had quite a bit of screen time. That was fun!

We are in the same boat. Our MK is planned for 12/8 because originally the taping was supposed to be the 5th, 6th or 7th. Got all our FP's scheduled including one for BOG lunch. Oh well, I am sure my kids will be excited to be there during taping although we will not go to it. No way am I standing in that mob for hours!

They announced Dec 8 & 9. Most likely one day is for the parade and one day is for the stage shows. They probably are not going to have the parade performers in the park 2 days.

Glad I noticed this change. I knew about the earlier dates and scheduled around those. I'm sorry for those that are impacted. :faint: I'll be on a DCL cruise thankfully and missing it.

How do you get tickets? Do you have to purchase them?

They usually give them to cast members and their families. Not available for purchase, although I'm surprised they don't considering all their "pay extra" events lately.

Don't expect LOW crowds for rides......

(I've been 3x during parade taping.)

Main Street will be THICK with people, but the rest of the park is largely unaffected.

I heard that tickets are NOT being issued this year. Your park ticket gets you in and if you want to watch the taping, you line up on main st.
