In & Out Burger

Nope. Umami, while good ingredients, is just too expensive for the slider size sandwich they call a burger.

There's a a location on Sepulveda just north of LAX, but due to corner that it's on it would require a car. The closest In n Out is on Brookhurst and Orange Ave. I'm not sure if ART goes there, but it looks like if you take OCTA you'd have to transfer at Ball Rd or walk to Ball. You should ask at your hotel, they would know if there's a direct bus that goes to another In N Out, like the one in Fullerton.
Yes, the OCTA #43 bus goes north on Harbor and has a stop just past Orangethorpe that is steps from the Fullerton location. For best results just tell the bus driver you want to get off at the In-n-Out stop. Bus fare is $2 each way.

Thanks for all of the feedback. While I would love to try an In N Out it seems like it is going to be more hassle than I'm willing to put forth. This is our first trip to Disneyland and I just don't see us making the trip again for many years however I can easily see us handing back to west coast when we might be able to more easily hit up an In N Out. Plus, it is not like we don't have a ton of great burgers in the ATL and I'm not talking about 5 Guys.

Also, Raising Cane is not bad but Chick-fil-A and Zaxby's are both better in my opinion.

Back in 2008 me and my wife were out in San Fran and decided to watch the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party at a Georgia bar in the city and someone drove over an hour out of their way to bring Chick-fil-A for everyone watching the game so it would be like being back in Georgia. It was really cool.

I don't know how big the burgers are at that place mentioned. But if it's the size of a slider, that is not a regular burger size.

And you don't have to be overweight to want a normal sized hamburger for a meal. Especially if you're paying a hefty price tag.

The slider comment is an exaggeration on the other poster's part. Photo from yelp with a human arm next to it for reference:

Definitely not small. People seem hung up on portion size these days.

$10 for a burger with no side and you think the size of those burgers qualifies for that price tag? Im not saying that the burger isn't big enough. I'm saying it's overpriced for what you get. For reference:

$10 http://blogs.ocweekly.com/stickaforkinit/2011/10/umami_burger_laguna_beach.php

$3 ($5 with fries) http://www.silberstudios.tv/blog/2011/03/in-n-out-burgers-secret-menu-finally-photographed/

Cost is not directly related to size. The types of meat used combined with the house made bun and house made condiments and other ingredients on the Umami burgers, plus it is a "sit down" restaurant all contribute to the price. In n Out is fast food. While they do use quality ingredients, it isn't the same. You want a big $12 burger, go to the Counter and maybe you'll be happy? I have never finished a burger from there before. But, I don't want some giant burger that will kill my gut and increase my pants size. Moderation, friend. If Umami isn't not enough food for you to have in one sitting, maybe you should re-evaluate your eating habits?

That's fine, darling. But for me if it came with fries or something small on the side I wouldn't have a problem with it. What it comes down to is personal value. If Umami is a good value to you and you're willing to pay for it, hey great for you. However if I want a burger, I'm probably in the mood for something quick and easy, hence In N Out being a better value to me.

And while I love the insinuation that I'm probably overweight and have nothing better to do than gorge out on cheap greasy food of gargantuan proportions, I'll just throw a little peace sign up for you as I finish my next half marathon.

only half?

In n out is fast food. Umami is a full service gourmet burger restaurant . You're comparing two totally different things. When you go to a steak house do you whine about sides not being included? Umami is not a value at all. It's a splurge. All I'm saying is the portions are not small as you have claimed. You've been trained to have your burger come with fries and you're annoyed because umami does not do this. Hey, the Habit burgers don't come with fries or as combos...

And back to the size thing... Umami's burgers are physically larger than in n out.

Ah, thanks. I'd never heard of that restaurant and I assumed it was some fast food type place.

Squeeze In, the one from Truckee, Ca? We have 3 in Reno now. I have never had a Burger there, but their breakfasts are the Bomb! Where is it in Sacto?

We have 5 Guys, and Fat Burger, In & Out... I like In & Out, but I think Fat Burger is better....... IMHO!

Original one was in South Sac, now they are all over the place over here.

3 in Sac, Galt, Vacaville, all burger joints. Cheese skirt around the burger, heart attack on a plate.

Squeeze Inn in Truckee is not affiliated with these places, but you are right, they serve up a mean breakfast. We specifically stop there on the way to Tahoe/Reno.

Thanks Chris, good to know next time I pass through to DLR, or my brother's down by Napa! :thumbsup2
Yes, the breakfast at Squeeze In is hard to beat, but next time you are in Reno/Sparks, try Pegs Glorified Ham and Eggs, my Squeeze Out, Squeeze In... they are great too for breakfast!

Carry on with the burger's....:wave2:

Thanks Lori, sounds good.

Last week, we drove over to the Peppermill just for Biscotti's Sunday brunch-the king crab legs and gulf prawns are amazing and the desserts-ooh.
