In Our Prime

was40, I'm so sorry to hear about your water troubles this morning! How did everything go after you left?

I can't believe it's only 3 more days till you leave!!!

What extra-special activity have you decided on or are you going to wait till you get there to decide?

I'm thinking snorkling in St. Thomas.
I'm not positive yet though.
We will probably wait until we are onboard to book it though.
I've read that there are sometimes other excursions that aren't
listed online so I want to wait and see.

Snow, I'm glad you are enjoying the Harry Potter books - they are fun! I also miss the Gilmore Girls.

was - good luck with your plumbing problems.

Ilove - how are you doing?

Hi everyone!
DH had a lovely day with the water damage guys.....(he can work by phone, sort of, so it wasn't a total loss of work time for him)

They were here from 8-4
and left us eight fans and five dehumidifiers
all of which are rather noisy:confused3

3-5 days they say for the dry out phase
and then the repair process begins

Half of the house is sealed off, plastic covering the doorways
so those rooms can dry out

The whole house is a disaster zone right now
but I am just saying "it could be worse"

I will post a few pics....if I have battery life (no new power cord yet)

We got an ice storm today, covered everything with "pretty" ice
I had to chisel it off my van to leave work....

This is where it all started...the supply hose to the toilet
just "blew off" during the night

This is the ceiling of the family room, one floor below the bathroom (and not directly below, either.....(ugh)

The piano is fine (yeah) but the living room will look like this for the next 3-5 days or so....

Half of the rooms of my house look like this now, quarantined:laughing:

My new sink is now doing double duty as a drain for dehumidifiers

misplaced furniture (and this is one of the neater areas of my house)

Most damage is to the carpeting and walls, new paint and new padding
some of the carpet will be salvaged (they ripped out the padding)

They had to cut one hole in the ceiling in the basement to let water out
the other ceilings will just need painted (as long as they don't crack)

We had to get a new blower on the furnace, as water went into the furnace, too....

DH spent the day with five restoration guys and two furnace guys.
The restoration company will come back and adjust fans and such every day until it is dry, maybe five days...

DS and DD13 can't sleep in their rooms
because the fans and dehumidifiers are so loud
and are supposed to stay on constantly

DS is going to one corner of the basement
DD13 can bunk with DD10

(my room is fine):worship:
